Apparently it's an action RPG and not turn based, and seems to be on track to be a fine addition to the exisitng portable RPG line-up and possibly the first good RPG to grace the DS since PiT. It's actually a Pokemon themed spin-off of an already existing series in Japan. But since the US never got the Fushigi no Dungeon series, it's new to the US.

Anyways apparently you answer a bunch of Psyco-Analasys questions before the game turns your main character into a Pokemon, the type of pokemon you get turned into depends on how you answered the questions and the version you are playing. The Dungeons are randomly generated and being that Blue Rescue Team is for the DS and Red Rescue Team is for the GBA you get some weird corss connectivity thing that they planned on doing.

I think it may be along the lines of Zelda Oracle of Seasons and Ages, being that pokemon trading wouldn't be a viable option considering your main character is a pokemon

You also get a house IIRC that you can probably furnish with the junk you find on your ventures, I mean they wouldn't give you a house unless you could furnish it

There's a heavy story element throughout the game supposedly, so there will probably be alot of references from the Pokemon mythos. However in the Instance of the Blue version the the stylus really doesn't play a signifigant role and it's pretty much just a Map and Menus which is pretty much the same things on the GBA Version just Type B instead of Type A in terms of how you acess them.

Neither of the games are in 3D though, so it's not like a Monster Hunter:Freedom ARPG but it seems more or less along the lines of the GBA Sword of Mana game in terms of actual combat for both version. It's also a very forgiving RPG in terms of consiquences when you faint and enemy difficulty. I just hope it's not TOO easy. I also hope they fixed that nasty data erase error that destroyed the gamed ata when you connected the two versions

I'm thinking about getting both in case I need something new. And I heard it that it IS turn-based, but hard to tell at first.

I'll have to try it first. So far all the other Pokemon spinoffs have stunk, been too short/easy, or both.

Umm, these are the ONLY games in the Dungeon series. One for GBA, one for the DS (I beleive Red is for the GBA, and blue is for the DS). I wonder why Nintendo decided to to change it from Mysterious Dungeon to Mystery Dungeon though.

If you hook both the games into your DS, you're rewarded with all sorts of goodies.

I'll get the GBA version, but my lack of DS means that I won't be getting the DS game.

I could be wrong, but I think Torneko for Playstation was the only one to make it to the U.S. These dungeon games are the first of the Pokemon variety, maybe that's what you mean?
