Dragon Up!!!

Note: If you think Acne's bad.. be thankful you're not a Dragon....

Ah Adolescence... Everybody experiences it once in their life time..(and it's the magical time where you have everything happen to you.. both good and bad...)

The good things include going out on your first date, getting possibly that first kiss, and yes you slowly go through all the benefits as you go from Child to Full grown Adult.

But with the good comes the bad as well, 'Yin for Yang' as they call it. And perhaps one of the worst things most teenagers go through or rather suffer through is the dreaded 'Zit fest', the 'Pimple party' or what Medical people just simply call ...

Acne...

(Already I can see a lot of folks wanting to try and keep their Dinner in..)

and with Adolescence you do get all this... the good and.. the bad. Like I said Yin for Yang.

But when you're a teenage dragon, you don't get zits, you don't even have to worry about pimples.. in short acne isn't a major problem....

But 'Molting' is...

But as we've seen, Jake does get "Dragon Breath" (Whew!) and now that he's gotten a bit older well Dragons do get their version of Acne. (Someone last time asked how on earth Dragons get Acne, and in fact they don't get Acne..which is a relief to Jake..

But when you start to 'Molt' as a dragon, much like a duck or any bird molts their feathers, well let's just say that Jake would rather wish he were a teenager with just plain Acne...Because when Dragons Molt.. It's a full blown condition where the skin tends to peel off (Much like Snakes shedding their skins..) So in a way Jake's Human Form tries to shed it's skin and leave him with the full blown Dragon part..

So believe me, if you're squeamish to Molting.. well then I suggest you don't watch..(but I bet the curious do want to know about the life cycle of a dragon, so Like I said, be warned.. You might just almost lose your dinner here (Much like Spud and Trixie might), when we go through perhaps a most troubling time known as ...a case of Dragon

Breakout.

But what's worse? Imagine fighting the Huntsclan while having a full blown condition of Molting.. It's not Pretty.. Not in the least. Just ask Jake.

So let's stop talking about Adolescene and cut right to the chase.. after all Like i said, you only go through Adolescene once.. and for Jake..

once with Molting is quite enough..

According to TV.com here's the 411 on Breakout:

Breakout- (208) - Jake suffers from a vicious case of dragon acne (Or rather 'Molting'). Meanwhile, Jake and Rose must avoid being seen together by Numbers 88 and 89, while teaming up to stop the Huntsman plan to get rid of all magical creatures.

Notes:

Rose and Jake, together again.. (Kind of)-- well they're back together, But Jake and Rose (Huntsgirl) have to play a game of "Not seeing each other.. After all there are Huntsclan Spies all over the place.. and two of them are:

The Return of #88 and #89: Yep, these Two Huntsclan goofballs are back, the Jokers of the Huntsclan, the Silliest Duo the Huntsclan can throw at Jake and Rose, and it makes you wonder.. What craziness will these two goofballs come up with this time?!

and of course the reason why Jake and Huntsgirl are working together?: There's a hidden Agenda here... and like Steve (Loeter) said.. it's the worst case scenario that the Huntsclan can cook up against all Magical creatures. The Elimination of all Magical creatures. (Even Fu Dog is a target now, after all he's magical as well.)

I watched this at disneychannel.com, and I must say I was very impressed. This is right up there with The Academy, quality-wise. One of the best episodes yet, and I'll be watching it again tonight. 9/10

OK, here are my thoughts:
The Good:
-More Jake/Rose action. Rose seems to make the episodes [that she appears in] incredible.
-Interesting plot. You've got the expected continuing of the Rose story, but then there's the "dragon molting" stuff thrown in there too. It ended up okay, but you can look below for more on that.
-88 and 89. They're great. I don't like their character designs, but they have great chemistry and make a great comedic team.
-The episode's conclusion was great. The dream charms will surely come in handy!

The Bad:
-In my opinion, they rushed the revealing of the Huntsman's plot. They really should have waited a few more episodes before revealing his plot completely. But, who knows, maybe they have some incredible plot twists coming...
-While it may have helped the plot a bit, the whole molting thing was sort of pointless. What we really cared about was the Jake and Rose story. They should have focused more on that.

Still, I give it a 9/10

Yeah this was a very good episode. The ending where Fu Dog explains some things about the episode was extra funny this time. 88 and 89 became Huntsman's apprentises because they put their video game records on their resumes.

This is the first episode of the new re-engineered "American Dragon" I've seen. And I have to say...that while I still don't like Jake's new dragon morph, I do like everything else. The animation is far far better - smooth and accomplished, the drawing is first-rate, and the redesigns (except the dragon, and it's really not all that bad I guess) work very well. Even Foo Dog is more likeable. The writing was a bit weak, but overall this was pretty cool IMO. Kudos to the people who decided that "Dragon" was worth a redo and relaunch.

Well after seeing Breakout, I can say that Steve (Loeter) has got the formula right for this series.. (In fact it's on the money..) and Breakout really is the 3rd or so Episode that entwines Jake and Rose into this game of "I'd like to be with you but I can't cause my uncle, who's the leader is suspicious..." Game

As for 88 and 89? Great Comic relief, and funny as all get out (Even the ending credit blurb shows really that they are goofballs! (Hey unless you're going to design video games, don't put your an expert at slaying things unless you really mean it!)

Now as for the story.. This now gives us the "What for" and the "Why" the Huntsclan is planning for "Magical Genocide" (Using Mystical Aztec Skulls to use in some sort of ritual (Do I have a deja vu of Hunter's Moon From Gargoyles here?)

But at least there are a few good parts here.. First Rose Vindicated herself with using Jake's Molted skin as the balance against her uncle (Much like she used the "Fake Death" Potion in The Academy. But you can see or even sense that Huntsmaster is very suspicious of Rose's claims.(You can see it in that one scene, as he's staring at the molted Dragon Skin. It's almost as if you can read him saying, "She (Huntsgirl)'s Lying to me".)

Now as for Rotwood... This guy as Principal (he's evil I tell ya!) is really going to really make things happen and not in a good way..(Namely when you hear him drag his nails across the chalkboard, can we say He's evil?) But I have a Feeling something is up and that's in an Upcoming Epsidoe.. and I think those Dream Charm braclets might be the key here..)

And Rose finally starting to understand Jake as a Dragon? and liking him for who he is under the skin? (Oh man she slipped him a Dream charm..(Can we say Shades of Deja Vu of Gargoyles with Goliath and Eliza all over again?)

But next week looks even more interesting (As it lookes like to be):

Episode 205-- Family Business. Next Week let's see Smart Little Halley and even Sun Park trust each other.. but Jake? He gets no respect and it may be Halley's turn to show what tricks she can pull out of her dragon form..(Hey this could get interesting!)

The Bottom Line for this ep? Very smooth, well written and thought out, and you can see that this "Dream Tag" between Jake and Rose" Might Continue (Though I think Rose Needs to stay out of Fu Dog's dreams..(Roller Disco Dogs?) Dream. Okay time to go skating!

Spud and Trixie I must say really had the right idea.. and Spud pulls another trick out of his bag of .. well .. if he had a bag it would be full of tricks (No not Trix the Cereal but Tricks as in hairbrained schemes!)

But my score? 9.7 out of 10.. (Too bad we've left the door open that Huntsmaster may figure out the scam.. and then everyone's in trouble!)

-88 and 89. They're great. I don't like their character designs, but they have great chemistry and make a great comedic team.

I have one thing to say about 88 and 89... Look out Jim and Tim Possible... You got Competition! (88 and 89 are hilarious especially 88 who's all "Jive turkey talking" and yet is afraid of a Little snake...(Oh wait.. that Aztec Serpent was something like 50 feet long!) But this is what the show needed.. A comedy team..(And since Trixie and Spud have been put to the back, I think 88 and 89 could actually do something surprising like:

Actually turn agianst the Huntsclan! Oh my did I say that? I mean can you imagine 88 and 89 coming in for the save when Huntsmaster is about to take Jake down personally?)

but still look out for 88 and 89.. I feel they're just warming up..

I enjoyed the episode, but I would like an episode with a little more focouse on Spud, he needs an episode of his own :)
