Any thoughts on it? I really want it to be added to my Metal Gear Solid collection, but I don't want to buy the PS3 for just one game. But, I probably will end up doing that, when the price goes down. :p

It looks good, but if the the PS3 suffers from poor sales due to it's insane price then Konami and Kojima might just take MGS4 over to the 360 as well.

I dunno, they said the same thing about Brining MGS3:S over to the 360 since it was the first next gen system when the game was released for the PS2
nothing ever came of it.
And the price tag may not even last that long since out of the three companies sony is the most frequent with price drops. It's got PSP greatest hits even before Nintendo DS has Player's Choice. And another PSP system price drop is rumored to happen around the holidays.
Well, there is no telling how much money Sony will lose per PS3. A price drop would hurt them even more.

I'm obsessed with all things Metal Gear. Guns of the Patriots is my #1 anticpated game and shall continue to be until its release. I kinda hope that MGS4 is the final one, as it seems fitting to be. I would be entirely happy with that too.

I think its pretty much a lock to come out for PS3 no matter what. After its release, there's probably a possibility it could have a 360 port.

MGS3 was released on a system that guaranteed excellent sales. If the PS3 doesn't end up as a viable platform for exclusive third-party software sales, it's an entirely different story.

Given the huge negative profit margin on the PS3, this doesn't really apply. Unless the PS3 absolutely bombs at its high price point (and it won't), we'll probably see a very gradual drop-off in price compared to past Sony hardware.

I think it should be released for all the three new systems. I mean, if they did that, sales would increase for the game, and it would expand the popularity. Seems logical to me.

In a perfect world, it would. But the fact of the matter is that Hideo has stated that MGS4 is too big for one DVD, so that simply eliminates the Wii getting it.
I'm personally holding out for an Xbox 360 version, but I'm not sure what the likelihood is for that. MGS 2 got released on Xbox, so maybe...
When PS3 drops to $200 in the next 10 years, I'll be sure to pick one up for MGS4. :)

Exactly! Resident Evil 4 was at one-time to be a Gamecube exclusive but since they noticed PS2 was doing so much greater in sales with hardware and that Resident Evil 0 and 1 didn't sell as great as they could have probably done on PS2, this led to RE4 going to PS2 as well. Same goes with some of the other Capcom Gamecube "exclusive" titles.

Hey guys can we stop burying the PS3 just because it's 500-600 BuxZOMGZORZ
Seriously you want backbreaking prices you should really look into PC components, 600 bucks will just buy you a top end graphics card, never mind the other compoentns required to actually run a computer. And you know what the PC game market isn't dead, even though they've been predicting "the end" for about 10-15 years now. Really I think it's alot of bitterness related to "ICAN't AFFORD TEH AWSUM GAMEZ KONSOLE". This is coming from someone who's been waiting years to actually get the oppertunity to aquire a good top end Game PC to play many good PC exclusive games. I'm not bitter about not being able to play the games that were released far above my CPU means, I saved for years for one instead and kept my ear to the ground on what's worthwhile for the PC in terms of games. And it wasn't just money that was a hurdle either, while I do have multiple PC's in my house linked up, my faimly is not as technology skilled and therefore I could not have advanced set-ups and just had to keep it baisic.
Honestly look at the PSP if it's any indication on the PS3, the hardware is making a big profit for sony despite the fact it costs 70 bucks more than the DS now and that the UMD discs are not a viable format for movies and are strictly for games. Software sales take awhile to warm up, but that's traditonally been the case with Sony consoles, PS1 and PS2 did not take off until after their first year.
Blu-Ray however they are pouring alot more money into than any other format they produced before it could work or it could not, personally I could live without blu-ray, but there's no option to get a system without it, so i'm getting the 500 dollar model since all i want is a game console. It's 100 bucks more than the Deluxe 360 but pretty much comes with everything it had in terms of acessories, but has higher HD capacity and is more powerful. Yes things that are more powerful cost more, take a look at any of the PC graphics cards, cards that can run PC games like Oblivion perfectly on high settings cost more than cards that can't.
All systems thus far have had good exclusive games to their name, no system has absorbed another's syetms entire library of exclusives, unless you're counting backwards compatibility. As it stands MGS4 is a PS3 exclusives as is Final Fantasy 13, Heavenly Sword, and such. Anything could happen since the Wii and the PS3 arn't even out yet it's not even fair to predict the winner in the console wars. 360 is bombing in Europe and in japan, if anything that's a greater concern since America is it's only profitable base, they havn't even made a profit on the X-box line of systems since it's introduction but within the next year or so they hope to turn a profit in 2008.
Comparing MGS4 to Resident Evil 4's situation isn't even viable, since Re4 came much later in the Gamecube's life compared to MGS4 which will be released almost a year into the PS3's life if all things go on track. The PS3 will still have aways to go before the overall quality can be judged.
Also we don't even know all that much about MGS4 other than a short intro of the story, the cast of characters, and some gameplay elements. We don't even know about any of the boss battles or other level stages. I mean hell we all thought Snake was going to be the main character for the entire story of MGS2 and that the Tanker was just one variety of levels when instead it just took place in the Hexagon from there onward. Even in MGS3 before it was released there were alot of unexpected things people found in the game in terms of levels and enemies.
