These are picture sof almost all the RPGs I have(a few are MIA), but RPGs are not the only genre I play but they are one of my favorites. But in terms of Microsoft and Nintendo, it just so happens that Sony releases far more exclusive RPGs than both combined and on a regular baisis as well.

I may be missing a few noteables from the assorted consoles and handhelds(i.e. I own no Installations of the Wild Arms Series or Tactics Ogre), but I've got the majority of the noteworthy ones.

the RPGs in the pictures total 101, but as I said before there are a few games in my library that went misplaced

But this all started with Final Fantasy 8 when it was originally released and violenty grew into this amassed library

I don't have XBLive, so Multiplayer Chromehounds is lost on me

You should just get Live and Chromehounds... VERY, VERY fun... Why don't you have Live Gold?

I've got no place to connect my 360 in my room, the only other place is the basement, but all the other electronic non-game playing equipment is down there, I'd need to rearrange the massive TV screen to get close to the modem.

did the 400 dollar Deluxe 360 come with gold or just silver?

Uh... Pokemon Stadium isn't really an RPG...

It's more of a fighting game.

Meh I thought it was close enough since it's Turn based

seems more akin to an expansion pack to the GB games if any with the Transfer pack and all

This says you aren't a Sony fanboy how? You surely are aware that you have more Sony console RPGs than any companies console so unless you balance that out with other kinds of games for other systems then yeah...

Speaking from a collector's point of view - you definitely have a lot of RPGs.

As a fellow RPG gamer point of view - you definitely own more bad games than you should.

quite a few I got for only a few dollars to satisfy mu curiosity

Also Sketch, this is just RPGs. I mean if the games arn't there on the release scheduel the games just arn't there, it's a nomadic view with really no personal bias or anything like that, Lost Kingdoms II and FF:CC are the only other GC RPGs that I have that's MIA. And the only other RPG aside from that is Phantasy Star CR(but you need online to beat it) and Evolution Worlds(really really not all that fond of it when it was on the DC)

also herlock what games would you deem as bad? I'm, curious because There are quite a few that I certainly know of to be bad, but I don't think it's the majority of them.

Well PS2 has more RPGs, because everyone in Japan is in love with PS2.

It's the transitive property.

If Japanese ♥ RPGs and Japanese ♥ PS2, thus RPG ♥ PS2.

Well, more like PRGs are abundant on PS2, but you get the picture.

From what I can read:

- Metal Saga
- Lost Kingdoms
- Lunar Dragon Song
- Magna Carta
- Ys (Ps2)
- Monster Rancher
- Generation of Chaos
- Jade Cocoon 2
- Summoner
- Xenosaga II
- Atelier Iris
- Suikoden IV
- Front Mission 4

I'm lukewarm on:

- Growlanser Generations
- The .hack games
- Star Ocean 3

Just personally I think those are the bad ones. But I don't know if you're going for a collector type thing, or you bought them to actually play and enjoy them. I can honestly say Magna Carta is in the top 5 worst RPGs I've played on Ps2.

I'd pretty much agree with that

I bought Magna Carte full price because the intetnet feedback was essentaily "ooooh looky perchance of a game akin to Legend of Dragoon"
The battle system needed multiple bars, supposedly they reworked the battle system for the Japanese .5 version

Metal Saga was supposed to be this innovative nitche masterpiece, but it wasn't, the innovation tooka way from the Gameplay experiance as was the same with Lunar DS, however MS can be beaten within a minute or so...

Xenosaga 2 I got for 10 bucks

Lost Kingdoms I got for free

YS I wanted to try since the older games were supposed to be good

Summoner I got at PS2 Launch because I wanted to see what RPGs would be like on the PS2(hence I learned Launch games never do the system justice)

Jade Cuccoon i got for very cheap

Monster Rancher was an oddity, it was one of the first games I got for the PS1 when I bought the system used from a neighbor, I really enjoyed the battles but didn't fully understand the concept until after I played Final Fantasy 8 a year later and realised "oh now I get this turn absed business". I just fooled around with the CD switching monster summoner.

I bought many of the NIS games out of their Nis'ness and how theyw ere supposed to rival Square Enix...it's been a mixed bag aside from the SRPGs which seems to be better than SE's offerings like FM4, so I'm wary of videogame fanbases because I've been lead astray a few times

Pretty much all these games have signifigant play times on them, I have a high number of games because I play them not because a title is rare or what not

It comes with a free month of Gold. No CC needed... Just make an account and it should let you do the 1 month of Gold free. It's definitely worth the $50... Especially if you like XBLA, since you can play MP... SF2 online is out next week, actually.

Actually, XBL Arcade is avaliable to XBL Silver members, so is Marketplace (you still need to play for the content, but not the service subscribtion). The only extras that Gold members get are online play and video chat.

Get a wireless router. They're like 50 bucks for a cheap one and you've obviously got the money lying around. :p

I got the re-issues

I said it all began with Final Fantasy 8

then i got the re-issues and compilations as they came out and pretty much have the majority of older generation RPGs

I got Breath of Fire 1 and 2 which were originally the only Pre-Ps1 BOF games with 3,4, and Dragon Quarter coming during and after the PS1. They're still pretty much the same on the GBA.

The Phantasy Star Collection is PS 1 to 3

Final Fantasy origins is FF 1 and 2

Final Fantasy Chronicals is FF4 and Chrono Trigger

Final Fantasy Anthology is FF5 and FF6

The only other compilation would be Dragon Quest 1&2 and the re-issue of 3 for the GBA, but I don't have legal copies of the earlier DQ games and early RPGs like that really didn't age well, but they'll probably be available for download in some form or I could always get the legal GBC copies.

I really prefer the Original Phantasy Star and Phantasy Star 2 to FF1 or 2 or DQ1&2, I think that did it best with the older RPGs

There is Ys, but the save batteries are probably dead by now and I don't have an SNES to play the installments

Shining Force, legal copies are rather pricey for that series and the bettery replacement is also an issue

Shining Force may have a few series spots on that upcoming Sega Compilation that's supposed to hit the PS2 and PSP later this year

There's the Final Fantasy legends/SaGa GB games, but those batteries are probably dead by now as well, so that's something to wait for a re-issue

I'm noticing a severe lack of RPGs pre-PSone.

Given how expensive/hard to come by most of those games are that's pretty acceptable especially given that a lot of the more notable ones were ported later on, and there are "other methods" of playing these games anyway.

He for instance owns Anthology and Chronicles which are far more cost effective ways to own Final Fantasy IV-VI and Chrono Trigger than seeking out the original carts. I paid around the original prices (70 dollar range) each for the original Super NES Final Fantasy III and Chrono Trigger, and the latter only for the cart and the former only had a tattered, incomplete manual.

Edit: Artimus already responded to Chad, but my post still has some value.
