Reliable Source

Hello, everyone, this is Reliable Source checking back in. It's been awhile, but I think you'll agree that this latest scoop is worth the wait.
Since my last post, I have been trying in vain to get some dirt on Cartoon Network's breakaway hit, Justice League, the latest incarnation of Bruce Timm's animated version of the DCU. Unfortunately, the execs at CTN have much tighter lips than the WB folk did. It took every trick in the book, but I finally managed to get the scoop on some episodes involving the much anticipated Injustice Gang.
It seems there was some confusion about the actual Injustice Gang roster, due to conflicting reports from different websites as to who actually made the cut. That's because more than one version of the Gang will appear on the show. The first version is a rag tag bunch that features Lex Luthor, The Joker, The Shade, Star Sapphire, Felix Faust, Calendar Girl, Luminus, Josiah Wormwood, and Farmer Brown.
"This original version of the Gang gets their collective (expletive deleted) handed to them by the League pretty quickly," explained my source. "It's almost laughable. We decided to bring in a lot of second stringers to emphasize the point."
The first Injustice Gang is the brainchild of Lex Luthor, who sets out to destroy Superman once and for all after he gets cancer from a chunk of kryptonite that he has taken to carrying around with him.
"The Gang is reformed down the road. We already have the script written, but it probably won't see production until the second season," my source explained. The second arc sees Darkseid forging a partnership with Ra's Al Ghul, as Darkseid is convinced that the Lazarus Pits somehow hold the key to the Anti-Life Equation.
"Ra's and Darkseid know that you can't (expletive deleted) around when it comes to the Justice League, so they pull in the heavy hitters."
The second Gang features Luthor, Brainiac, Talia, Clayface, Gorilla Grodd, Sinestro, Cheetah, Bane, and The Riddler.
"There's one in-joke in the second arc that the fans should really watch for," advised my source. "Although everyone that considers Batman Beyond to be an 'Elseworlds' type deal will probably get pretty pissed." Apparently, the flashback sequence of Return of the Joker takes place sometime between the first and second Injustice Gang arcs.
"Everyone is speculating as to why the Joker wasn't called back to be in the new Gang. And Clayface goes, 'Crazy clown tried to kill Robin or something. I heard he slipped in a puddle and got electrocuted.' Then Riddler says, 'No, no, that's not what happened at all! I heard Robin shot the poor guy!' And everyone else is like, 'No way!' It's just kind of a funny reference to the whole ROTJ debacle."
Sounds like some good natured ribbing to me, and with the upcoming release of the uncut ROTJ on DVD, soon everyone will be in on the joke. That's all for now, and of course, more as I hear it.
