Warning: There is some violence and a little bit of harsh language near the end.
I must say, it looks really impressive. To me, it's like a mix of the Boondocks and Samurai Champloo. Only with a really high budget.

That looks pretty sweet.
I guess the only problem I have with this show so far is just how much like a Samurai Champloo ripoff it seems like. Even if I love everything about the show thusfar, the whole "samurai setting with a hip-hop atmosphere twist" is such a unique concept that anything that tries to use it is going to come off as a blatant ripoff, regardless of how close or far away from Samurai Champloo the end product is.
But I'll get over it eventually. That high budget certainly shows through in the animation quality, that's for sure! If nothing else, it will be one pretty looking show.
I gotta' ask, though, what of the "mother f****" at the end? Is Spike actually gonna' let the f-bomb fly on the show?

At SDCC, Spike promised to air the show as late as possible to keep the cuts ot a minimum. That said, it will only be a 22 minute show vs the 25 minute version the DVD will have due to time requirements, so it's hard to say what they will do. Comedy Central has their "Secret Stash" block where they can show uncensored (uncut != uncensored) stuff, so it is not unprecedented.
THe show's budget is $1 million per episode, and it isn't really a show, but more of an OVA. Spike is calling it a miniseries, as it only has 5 episodes at this time.
In regards to the show being a Champloo ripoff, the original manga it is based off is over 10 years old, therefore pre-dating Champloo by a number of years. I'm sure the complaints from the otakus will rise before then as interest in the mini increases due to them calling it a ripoff.

Hello 4th favorite show on Spike TV. ( first is always MXC) Its looks really good I cant wait.
Back-to-back with Blade, and you've got the most adult block on basic cable.

Saw the trailer. Impressed with it.
However, I always figured that this show would be a knock of Samurai Champloo ever since I read the original press release a couple years back.
I'll still watch it anyway because it just looks so ridiculously good! :)

Yeah, I did. But like I said, I figured it was a Champloo knock from a couple years ago when I read the original press release and didn't know that there was an Afro Samurai manga from years prior.

Don't worry, Champloo will come to Canada someday.:)
Anyway, I enjoyed the trailer. The animation was well done and I enjoy RZA's music alot.
I can't wait when it airs on Spike TV.
