View Full Version : Demo Disc Trends That Suck

Who else is annoyed at how difficult it is to exit game demos nowadays? I remember the simplicity in the early PS1 days- just press Select and you're back at the main menu. Now, it boils down to one of three methods:
-Pressing a bunch of buttons at once (L1, L2, R1, R2, Select, Start)
-Pausing the demo, selecting "Exit level", and then at the game demo's menu, pressing "Exit demo" (when you add loading times onto it, it's a long process), or...
-The most annoying culprit: The demo that doesn't let you exit out of it unless you restart the console. Whoever thought of that annoying trend needs to be caned. Or atleast branded. Ex: Pac-Man World Rally, Timesplitters 2, Soul Calibur III.
And while I'm on the subject of demos, why must some demos auto-exit after only a few minutes of play? That's just as bad as not being able to exit, because now it's like Beat the Clock to play through a game demo. Don't give me "It's an incentive to make you buy the full game". Bull honkey. I paid for the demo disc, I deserve to play a demo as long as I want.

360 is easy. Guide then Y button.
Infact... that's for any game... DVD's as well.

360 is easy. Guide then Y button. I gotta get that. I guess I was mainly talking about the PS2 Jampacks, which have gotten progressively worse every half-year.

I was gonna comment on the XBox 360's awesomeness of it.
Download a demo while you're playing a game, play a little bit of it, hold the Dashbutton (does it have a real name? I like Dashbutton), and exit.
Really, I tend to hit that button more than pausing now...

The main screen is called the "Dashboard", the button is called the "Guide button."
I also like how I don't have to get up to turn the system on. Infact, I only have to get up to change discs. That'll all change when the media becomes entirely digital in a few years.

Well, I know it was the Dashboard; just didn't know what the Guide button was called. (Here's to hoping that the Wii's "Home" button functions similarly)

Infact, I'm not supposed to tell you this, but the home button... turns your home into a rave party.
You didn't hear it from me.
"Everybody's free-- to feel good!
Everybody's free-- to feel good!
Everybody's free-- to feel good!
Everybody's free-- to feel good!
Do do do doo! Do do do doo! Do-do-do-do-dododododo-Dun!
Everybody's free...
Bum-bum-bum DA DA DA DA DA DA!"
(God, I love that Venture Bros. opening...)
