This is the talkback thread for SDCC: New "Afro Samurai" Details Revealed (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=11692).

It was also confirmed at the Con that the Wu-Tang Clan is indeed not to be, well, uh, we'll say "messed" with.

...$1 million per episode?
How exactly did they manage that? >_>;;;;;;

I'm betting music rights and Samuel L. take a pretty big cut.

Otherwise, they'll "Bring da Ruckus!":p

Anyway, $1 million. I believe Futurama was $1.2 million, so we should expect good animation.

It's too bad that Spike TV has to edit three minutes out of each episode. Hopefully, it will be scenes that have no importance to the story. I wonder if that would have been the case if this was airing on AS?

Also, that soundtrack is sounding pretty nice.

I'm annoyed with three minutes of edits. That's Adult Swim level bad. I hope that it's not important.

With the budget, music by the RZA, and just...everything, I don't see how they can mess this up. The soundtrack will no doubt be rich.

I can't remember the last time Adult Swim edited 3 minutes out of a series.

Maybe it's the opening and ending sequences that will be edited.

If they took em of completly (going by standard anime OP/ED lentghs) that would be 3mins.

I don't like this 3 min edit. How can you just chunk out 3 mins of a show? Only way it could work is if each episode had little vignette/joke segments like a Tachikoma Days, or Bleach Golden Cup thing that tacked onto each Japanese airing.

I don't think they're going to take 1 3-minute chunk out of the show. More than likely they'll take chunks made up of seconds out of the show. Kinda like what 4Kids does with the time cuts with their anime.

Well, to be honest, there are apparently parts of this show that are so violent and sexual (yes, at the same time apparently) that their is no Spike can handle it - it's just waaaay past their S&P. And given that the RZA did the OP/ED, that ain't getting cut.

Also, as far as funny questions asked, I think the best one was aimed at RZA:

Con-goer: Is Wu-Tang, in fact, something to *explitive* with, or not to *explitive* with?

RZA: WU-TANG AIN'T NOTHIN' TA *explitive* WITH!!!

*Thinks about it.*
