View Full Version : "WWE The Great American Bash" Prediction Thread

The Penguin
07-21-2006, 11:11 PM
The Great American Bash is this Sunday on PPV!! Predictions cannot be made or edited after 8 p.m. EDT on Sunday. Please observe the note about the Cruiserweight Championship match.

The Bash has 7 scheduled matches, so everyone's total will be out of 7. If you refuse to pick on principle, Kippy has no clue who you want, or you just plain miss it, you will get it wrong. For example, if you refuse to pick a winner in the U.S. Championship match because it seems pointless without Lashley in it[/rant], then you will get it wrong. Get it? Got it? Good.

World Heavyweight Championship
Champion Rey Mysterio vs. King Booker with Queen Sharmell

Batista vs. Mr. Kennedy

Punjabi Prison Match
The Undertaker vs. The Great Khali with Daivari

United States Championship
Champion Finlay vs. William Regal

WWE Tag Team Championship
Champions Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. The Pitbulls

Four-Way Diva Bra & Panties Match
Ashley vs. Jillian Hall vs. Kristal vs. Michelle McCool

Cruiserweight Championship
Champion Gregory Helms vs. Mystery Opponent
*You are predicting the winner, either Gregory Helms or his unknown opponent. Picking the identity of the opponent correctly or incorrectly will earn no points. Picking the opponent to win you will get it either right or wrong, no half points.

Please remember this thread encompasses anything to do with predictions. Should you feel the need to tally up your score, "challenge" people, or tell the story of the "match for the championship" that is going to fit in here, not the talkback thread for the event which will of course be posted Sunday.

Champion Rey Mysterio vs. King Booker with Queen Sharmell
Rey Mysterio- I believe they are building up to a Rey vs. Batista match at Summerslam. Unless Chavo turns on Rey at the match, then I don't see it chaning hands.

http://www.wwe.com/content/media/images/309846/336252/3013800/20060719_gab_batistakennedy.jpg
Batista vs. Mr. Kennedy
Batista- Make way for the new #1 contender.

http://www.wwe.com/content/media/images/309846/336252/3013800/20060707_gab_punjabiprison.jpg
The Undertaker vs. The Big Show or The Great Khali with Daivari
The Undertaker- I don't care which opponent they throw at the Deadman. He has a score to settle with both of them after SNME and ECW. If they do crossover matches at Summerslam, I could see Undertaker vs. Big Show with the deciding match there.

http://www.wwe.com/content/media/images/309846/336252/3013800/uschampmatch.jpg
Champion Finlay vs. William Regal
Finlay- With Lashley out, there's no reason to have the title change hands.

http://www.wwe.com/content/media/images/309846/336252/3013800/20060713_gab_tagteam.jpg
Champions Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. The Pitbulls
The Pitbulls- I can see this feud continuing after GAB, and what better way than having the rematch at Summerslam as the champs try to regain their crown.

http://www.wwe.com/content/media/images/309846/336252/3013800/20060719_gab_brapanties.jpg
Ashley vs. Jillian Hall vs. Kristal vs. Michelle McCool
Michelle McCool- She won at SNME and seems to have most of the momentum heading in.

Cruiserweight Championship
Champion Gregory Helms vs. Mystery Opponent
Gregory Helms- Unless it's Matt Hardy or Chavo Guerrero, I see no reason for them having the title change hands.
They don't have a picture for this match-up yet. If they get one posted, then I'll also post it here.

In the meantime, here's the TWE Tag Team standings with Backlash removed:
(C) Two Man Power Trip (Kippy & The Penguin) - 21/32
The M and V Connection (VCXZX and MDawg957)- 19/32
Spike Mcdougal & Kasumi- 18/32
Zero Signal & Jewelz- 17/32
Deadman & bigddan11- 17/32
The Headliners (Rattrap & PTurkey)- 12/32
Evenflow (Kametsou & The Dork Knight)- 11/32

As a result, TWE Commissioner Kippy has determined that there will be a fatal fourway tag match between The M and V Connection, Spike Mcdougal & Kasumi, Zero Signal & Jewelz, and Deadman & bigddan11 for the #1 contender's spot. All but Zero Signal & Jewelz have owned the tag team gold before, though bigddan11's run was with Mike Spartz. The winner of the fatal fourway will then face off against the champs for the championship before the TWE Main Event.

Leaving tomorrow morning, I need to get my picks in... (don't worry Kippy and VCXZX will have you covered next week ;) )

World Heavyweight Championship
Champion Rey Mysterio vs. King Booker with Queen Sharmell
All hail, King Booker!! Mr. & Mrs. T have been built up huge the past several months and Rey Mysterio has been a terrible Champion almost since he won the title. Starting Sunday night, Booker T recaptures all of his former WCW glory and gives Batista someone to chase until probably Armageddon.

Batista vs. Mr. Kennedy
Batista ...Batista.

Punjabi Prison Match
The Undertaker vs. The Great Khali with Daivari
Can we make this feud go to No Mercy? I think so, Khali.

United States Championship
Champion Finlay vs. William Regal
Finlay I really hate the concept of this match because now the two will just fight, but I don't think they're going to just switch the belt between the two.

WWE Tag Team Championship
Champions Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. The Pitbulls
London & Kendrick This is a tough one. Kash & Noble really should be built up more.

Four-Way Diva Bra & Panties Match
Ashley vs. Jillian Hall vs. Kristal vs. Michelle McCool
Does it matter? I guess I'll say Ashley.

Cruiserweight Championship
Champion Gregory Helms vs. Mystery Opponent
Helms I'd hate to think WWE is saying "hey, Helms beat the record" and then have him his lose it almost as soon as he does. Let's make it mean something!

Punjabi Prison Match
The Undertaker vs. ???
There's still nothing about Khali being removed over at WWE.com. If it is still Khali, I'm picking Undertaker. But if the Big Show replaces him he gets my vote because it becomes a nothing match which will further be used to put the ECW Champion over.

United States Championship
Champion Finlay vs. William Regal
Finlay.

Champions Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. The Pitbulls
London & Kendrick

Four-Way Diva Bra & Panties Match
Ashley vs. Jillian Hall vs. Kristal vs. Michelle McCool

Unless Tajiri got bored at home or they lured someone semi-big away from TNA, there's no reason for Helms to lose.

Helms - My bad! I thought Super Crazy was the #1 contender thats why I thought he was in this match.

Jin Kazama
07-22-2006, 02:11 AM
World Heavyweight Championship: Rey Mysterio v. King Booker - I had read somewhere that Batista/Kenedy was #1 contender, but WWE doesn't mention it, so I'm going with Rey Mysterio.

Ken Kenedy v. Batista - Batista. It was Batista when it was Henrey, and it's Batista with Kenedy.

Undertaker v. Kahli - I'm going out on a limb here and saying Kahli. Taker wouldn't have put him over so cleanly if he wasn't in this feud for a little bit.

United States Title: Finlay v. Regal - This just seems...off. I've seen two faces wrestling, but two heels? Who are supposed to be partners? Finaly either way.

Tag Team Titles: London/Kendrick v. Pit Bulls - Another odd choice, but I'm going Pit Bulls. Only London/Kendrick get the rematch at Summerslam unlike MNM.

Diva Match: Ashley v. Michelle v. Jillian v. Kristal - Ashley.

Cruiserweight Title: Helms v. The Mystery Box~!!!! - What the heck happened to Psicosis? I haven't seen Smackdown due to pre-emption, but I heard he won a #1 contenders match on it. Helms either way.

My predictions:

Booker (even though he sucks as a heel and the fact that Rey is my favorite SD! wrestler.)

Batista (even though Mr. Kennedy has a better finisher, he ain't winning.)

Undertaker

Finlay (even though he's technically British and not Irish, I still like the guy)

London and Kendrick

Ashley

Helms

The Dork Knight
07-22-2006, 03:35 AM
Booker T - Which leads to Booker/Batista at SummerSlam. Personally, I love Booker T, but I hate the whole King Booker character. I hate that when WWE finally decides to give him a big title, the also strap with a crappy gimmick.

Batista - Obviously Batista will win this one. However I see this being the main event of the show and features a run-in at the end from Booker T.

The Undertaker

Finlay

Noble and Kash - I refuse to call them The Pitbulls as they never got permission to use the name from Gary Wolfe. I really haven't watch SmackDown that much, but have they even given reference to the original Pitbulls?

Ashley

Mystery Opponent - For some odd reason, I see it being one of the Hardy Boyz. It could be Jeff as he's been planning a WWE return for quite some time or it could be Matt as they are currently pushing him as a singles competitor. All I know though is Helms will not be walking out of GAB with the title.

I guess this is the right place to post this since this pertains to the Bash. Another top name out from wrestlingobserver.com:

The story is all being tied together regarding WWE's decisios today. The shows were canceled because Vince McMahon made the call early in the day that Big Show will replace Great Khali on Sunday, against The Undertaker, in the Punjabi Prison match. Khali also has a diseased liver and is expected to be taken off the road.
So basically it looks like the Smackdown Curse has reached epic proportions. I don't get how 2 key injuries can not be revealed till Friday night after the show. It makes this week's show very obsloete (and I'm from the NYC area where smackdown isn't shown till Saturday)

I wouldn't be surprised if Kahli is forced to not wrestle again.

And now my picks:

1. KING BOOKER becomes the new World Champ. He deserves it after years of looking on the outside. This is one of Booker's better roles in the WWE. He's entertaining etc. This couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Sadly this reign may be short-term.

2. BATISTA will win. This will be more of a squash than Batista/Henry. Apolgies to fans of Mr. Kennedy. Kennedy. I think Batista will get the title very soon. Most likely, Summerslam.

3. You know. I think I'll go with SHOW to win this match. They need the ECW champ to be one who survives any kind of match, and this is the perfect setting for an extreme win. I guess Styles/Tazz will shoved the fact that Show can survive any extreme match down our throats. As for Khali, its a shame that this had to happen since this was the most high-profile match he's ever been in.

4. I'll go with FINLAY to retain. Thanks to help from my favorite and hopefully your's, the Little Bastard. This match has jumped 100% regarding a match I would go out of my way to see. Since both are great brawlers, and they had great WCW matches. Perhaps Lashley's injury was a mixed blessing. Hate to say it but its true.

5. I think the PITBULLS will become the new Tag champs. This feud should hopefully not end.

6. ASHLEY will win. Though like the old adage goes (which I say every month) "The fans are the winners." This feud should hopefullly end.

7. ? will win. I'm betting its Super Crazy. So that we get a Super Crazy/Psychosis cruiserweight feud which should be outstanding.

World Heavyweight Championship
Champion Rey Mysterio vs. King Booker (King Booker will win the match, but will he get the title?) with Queen Sharmell

Batista vs. Mr. Kennedy (Bats, I mean come on...)

Punjabi Prison Match
The Undertaker (Wrestling cliche #345: When two wrestlers have an extended feud, and one guy wins the first time, the other wins the second time. UT has to win this time) vs. The Great Khali with Daivari

United States Championship
Champion Finlay vs. William Regal (Wiht Lashley out, it has to be that darn Finlay and leprechaun and shallileigh)

WWE Tag Team Championship
Champions Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. The Pitbulls (Heel tag team for once)

Four-Way Diva Bra & Panties Match
Ashley vs. Jillian Hall vs. Kristal vs. Michelle McCool (I'm saying Ashley here, FF when you get the disc, if that happens at all)

Cruiserweight Championship
Champion Gregory Helms vs. Mystery Opponent(Gotta give it to the 'Mystery')
*You are predicting the winner, either Gregory Helms or his unknown opponent. Picking the identity of the opponent correctly or incorrectly will earn no points. Picking the opponent to win you will get it either right or wrong, no half points.

GABPOS Pt. 3: Will it be better than the first two of this iteration? Will Vince give our troops a good show? Who knows. PUNJABI!

World title: King Booker over Rey Mysterio. This one's a no-brainer.
US title: Fit Finlay over William Regal. You know the leprechaun will get involved.
WWE tag team titles: Brian Kendrick & Paul London over the Pit Bulls. Noble & Kash have followed the same blueprint the current champs used vs. MNM. However, it's not yet time for a title change.
Punjabi Prison Match: Undertaker over Big Show (subbing for Great Khali). This will be non-title, of course.
Batista over Ken Kennedy.
4-way bra & panties match: Ashley over Jillian, Michelle, & Kristal
Cruiserweight title: Greg Helms to retain. Over whom? I've got two possibilities. It's either Super Crazy or they'll call up Sonny Siaki from Deep South.

World Heavyweight Championship
Champion Rey Mysterio vs. King Booker with Queen Sharmell
Winner: Booker is my pick, but I just want to comment that this is a surprisingly decent setup either way, though. World Heavyweight Title Match
Rey Mysterio .VS. King Booker (with Queen Sharmell).

Rey won on SD, so logic dictates that KING BOOKER! wins his first WWE World title (not counting his WWE-owned WCW title win) on a former WCW show, against another WCW standout. I see this being a good match, and I look forward to Chavo's heel run against Rey Mysterio, which will be Chavo's first real chance to shine on his own in a major WWE feud.

Punjabi Prison Match
Undertaker .VS. ECW World Heavyweight champion, The Big Show.

I have no idea who will win this, but if the ECW title is on the line, I see Show winning, possibly with help from Khali (who could do a run-in, presuming he wasn't taken off the road entirely). With this being an escape match though, Taker will probably win, since he's the faster man, and him winning would allow the stipulation to continue.

"Open Challenge" Match
Batista .VS. Ken Kennedy.

Looking back, Batista should have been the first man to pin Kennedy, but they couldn't plan for Henry's injury, so I'm sure they'll find a way to get Batista over strong here while protecting Kennedy. The best way to do it might be to have Batista destroy him while Kennedy does his own introduction. That would, like the Giant-Benoit squash at the August '96 Clash, be a way to keep a monster strong and protect the up and coming star.

WWE United States Title Match
Fit Finlay .VS. William Regal.

This is my most anticipated match on the card. I see Finlay winning since he just won the strap, but a Regal win would make me happy too, since I've always wanted him to win the U.S. title, and to me, when you win both the U.S. and IC belts, you become the king of secondary straps. I believe this is his first U.S. title shot since the Benoit matches, and I could see this bout surpassing those.

WWE Tag Team Titles Match
Paul London & Brian Kendrick .VS. The Pitbulls (Jamie Noble & Kid Kash).

I cannot wait to see this match. All four of these men have great chemistry, and this match will rule if it's given time. I see the Pitbulls winning since they're new, over, and Londrick was BUILT for the chase to the gold.

WWE Cruiserweight Title Match
Gregory Helms .VS. ???

I see Super Crazy getting this shot since he won the match on SD, and they'll probably give him the belt since he lost his last shot at it, and they can end Helms' longest CW reign ever, which they kind of lucked into as a draw for the title.

Bra & Panties Four-Way Match
Jillian Hall .VS. Ashley .VS. Michelle McCool .VS. Kristal Marshall.

Jillian, since they're pushing her on TV.

So Kurt Angle was drafted to ECW, Chris Benoit has taken a leave of absence, Randy Orton jumped to RAW, and Mark Henry, Bobby Lashley, and apparently the Great Khali all have health issues to deal with. SmackDown! has lost six top guys and Matt Hardy still can't get a push. How can that be possible?!

World Heavyweight Championship
Champion Rey Mysterio vs. King Booker with Queen Sharmell

WINNER: KING BOOKER. Batista is going to be wrestling for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam. I'm not 100% sure on this, but I'm going to guess that he's going to be facing the very entertaining King Booker.

Batista vs. Mr. Kennedy

WINNER: BATISTA. Kennedy has no chance. Batista will put him away with the Batista Bomb.

Punjabi Prison Match
The Undertaker vs. The Great Khali with Daivari

WINNER: THE UNDERTAKER. Undertaker hasn't won a whole lot of matches this year. He'll win this one, but in a way that still makes his opponent look strong.

United States Championship
Champion Finlay vs. William Regal

WINNER: FINLAY. Well the crowd is going to be quiet for this one. They should stick Hardy in this match so the crowd actually has somebody to cheer for, but that's probably not going to happen. Finlay will retain the United States Championship and hold on to it until Bobby Lashley is cleared to wrestle again.

WWE Tag Team Championship
Champions Paul London & Brian Kendrick vs. The Pitbulls

WINNER: PAUL LONDON & BRIAN KENDRICK. It's a shame that SmackDown! keeps killing its tag teams. They could have a pretty good decision if they'd just stop breaking up all of the teams. London and Kendrick will hold onto the belts, but this feud won't end here because they don't have anybody else to face.

Four-Way Diva Bra & Panties Match
Ashley vs. Jillian Hall vs. Kristal vs. Michelle McCool

WINNER: ASHLEY. It's time to make the Diva Search seem important. Ashley will get the win in this high-stakes match.

Cruiserweight Championship
Champion Gregory Helms vs. Mystery Opponent

WINNER: GREGORY HELMS. Unless they actually are going to go with somebody else, I don't understand why they didn't just name Super Crazy as the opponnent. I'm guessing it is going to be Crazy and he's going to lose after interference by Psicosis. Hopefully this match won't be as boring as their last pay-per-view match.

King Booker - Because he is the King of SD! and it's time that the King has some real gold!
Batista - Not really hard to guess huh? And I'm guessing his next target will be King Bookah~!
Undertaker - Oh stop making Taker look weak. He needs a win. I just hope this doesn't turn into a Taker/Orton '06.
Finlay - Shame. The crowd will be dead. How many people have to go down for Hardy to get a push? Hopefully no one turns in this match because that will ruin King Booker's magnificent court.
Pitbulls - Meh. You know SD! doesn't really have a tag division even if it's 100x superior RAW's.
Ashley - Every PPV needs it's own batch of useless fanservice.
Gregory Helms - He should be CW champ forever :D

3-4 here, and for the TWE Tag Team division matches:

Zero Signal & Jewelz won the fatal four way as Jewelz pinned MDawg957 with her feet against the ropes.

Kippy and The Penguin retained the gold by DQ as Evenflow ran into the ring and tried to avenge last months loss. Zero Signal & Jewelz get a no DQ rematch at Summerslam.

Your TWE Tag Team Champions are still. . . Two Man Power Trip- Kippy and The Penguin (32/46)
1) Zero Signal and Jewelz (28/46)
2) Spike Mcdougal and Kasumi (26/46)
3) Deadman and bigddan11 (24/46)
3) The Pimps of Inferno- Punisher and Shakezola (24/46)
5) The M and V Connection- VCXZX and MDawg957 (22/46)
6) The Headliners- Rattrap and PTurkey (21/46)
7) Evenflow- Kametsou and The Dork Knight (20/46)

Highest score for GAB = 11/14
Highest combined score for Venegance = 11/16
Highest combined score for Judgement Day = 11/16
FINAL TOTAL = 33/46

TWE TAG TEAM TITLE HISTORY
2006 - GAB- [Two Man Power Trip] The Penguin and Kippy

Well, it's good to have both of you back, but don't think that anyone is going to go easy of you with that logo and the desire for TWE gold. In fact, I think you should be entered into a tag team gauntlet match (Wah-ha-ha-ha!). In fact, why not make it official. We'll have a 6 team gauntlet match at Summerslam, with the winner moving on to face the champs (Two Man Power Trip) and the #1 contender's (Zero Signal & Jewelz) in the TWE Tag Team Championship no disqualification, pin falls count anywhere match. If you're interested in knowing your current standing, I've added it with the others up top.

Mr.HeathBell

Thirty-six people made predictions for the Bash, a decrease of only one from Vengeance. That's still one of our largest turnouts. Our overall prediction rate managed to increase by one percentage point to 63%. That's our best performance since last year's Survivor Series.

---------------

He is the new Intercontinental Champion...

cynic beau!! (86%)

Top Contenders
1. Kippy (74%)
2. Kametsou (73%)
3. TheEvilClown (71%)
4. cinreds (67%)
4. Punisher
6. Kasumi (65%)
6. The Penguin
6. Majin_Megabyte

cynic beau has returned to win the Intercontinental Championship. TheScarecrow failed to show up to defend the title, which allowed cynic beau to win gold for the first time ever. So far only one person has been able to successfully defend the Intercontinental Championship this year. Will cynic beau be able to become the second?

---------------

Ladies and gentlemen, he is the new World Heavyweight Champion...

Kippy!!! (115)

Top Contenders (163)
1. Kasumi (112)
2. The Penguin (103)
2. Jewelz

After four straight pay-per-views on the top, Kasumi has finally lost her grasp on the gold. I, Kippy, will be wearing the big gold belt for the first time since 2004. Kasumi is still in the hunt, though, as she is the new number one contender. Who will be the World Heavyweight Champion after the Survivor Series?

---------------

Thanks again and be sure to return later this month for Survivor Series!

The Intercontinental Title Champion is decided by a calculating who has the highest percentage of correct guesses over the three most recent pay-per-views. The Heavyweight Title score awards points for correct guesses (no penalty for wrong guesses) for the six most recent pay-per-views. The points system for the heavyweight title is weighted such that more recent pay-per-views are worth more points. Click here (http://www.rit.edu/~mdk8894/toonzone/thegreatamericanbash06.xls) to view the spreadsheet used to make these calculations. Please, please check my work!
