Aqua Teen Hunger Force: In the opening you see them going on adventures that are a lot more amazing than the ones they go on in the show.

Gadget Boy: He's a much more competent crime fighter in the opening.

Same thing would apply to Inspector Gadget, looking somewhat more competent and exciting.

Gundam 0080's opening differs from the actual show because it's a long panned out image sequence that has at first glance little to no bearing with the show at all. Apart from the standing title of Gundam 0080, if one caught it right after the title had faded out and moved to the credits, one may not even know it WAS a Gundam series.

That's not what we are talking about. We're not talking about scenes in the opening that never happen in the show, that's common, we're talking basically about MISLEADING openings.

Ever saw the opening to 2x2=Shinobuden?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7_bY3ZYGoR4

There'S this point in the opening that leads you to believe there will be this huge brawl betweem Shinobu's gang and ninjas lead by some sort of evil twin of her... and NOTHING like that ever happen! In fact there's more plot in the opening sequence than the ENTIRE serie! The ending was just a stupid way of saying "Okay we're done with the non-sense, it's the end of the show bye!" and with no resolution of anything. There was no villain, no huge action sequences, no real excitement, just comedy with LOTS of shojo-ai undertone oO. It's an hilarious show...but it would have been better with an actual PLOT!

The 2nd Littles opening misleads you to think they fell in a suitcase at henry's house and he found them in it right away. The movie tells it different with them falling in the suitcase, going to the uncles house, and them eventually telling henry they exist.

The Family Guy opening implies a wholesome,family-friendly sitcom, which the show is far from.

the second opening to Savage Dragon was AMAZING and none of that quality was ever seen in the show.

Well openings are usually better quality since they'll be reused all the time.

The open to Thundercats was awesome. Fluid animation with all the bells and whistles...wouldn't be surprised if it was TMS.

Then the episode itself would start, and....ugh.

The Littles was the same way. And SwatKats.

(Hell, there would be numerous examples of this...)

I dunno if this counts but the animation in the opening titles of the Duck Dodgers series originally gave me a false impression of what the actual show was animated like.

The Littles was the same way. And SwatKats.1) Some people who worked on Thundercats now work for Ghibli.

2) The Littles was done by TMS, not Thundercats, that show was done by PAC (Pacific Animation Crop.) & KK C&D Asia.

And 3) Can't say about SwatKats (I never saw it).

Seth's said the opening is supposed to be taken as parody, since the initial idea behind the show was parodying all those family sitcoms.

Some of the images in the titles were on the actual show, but I can definatly see the point.

Well a lot of the stuff (unfreezing Dodgers, the Cadet with the huge machine gun, Dodgers with the nunchucks) are animated in a very different style than the rest of the show. I've heard there's an actual story behind this but I forget what it was.

In the DuckTales opening, Scrooge is seen floating in space, reaching for a dollar bill when an alien snatches it away. I never saw any such episode :)

Full Metal Alchemist, the opening they played during the last few episodes on Adult Swim. Not to say that the show didn't have action, but if the show actually had fights like that...oh baby!

Happy Tree Friends! There is no indication of graphic images, blood, gore, violence, horror, death etc. It's awesome!

The Fairly OddParents: In the opening, Vicky can see Cosmo and Wanda granting wishes for Timmy, but in the show that would get Timmy's fairies taken away from him.

hmmm, about ATHF. I wonder if the original intent of the series was to solve mysteries. Seems they abandoned that premise quickly into the series. Frylocke even joked about it in...Kidney Car I think. Perhaps they planned on dumping the mystery motif from the get-go.

and how about those Dr Weird intros. You'd think he was the ATHFs archnemesis. Instead, those segments are more like short vignettes that occur within the Aqua Teen universe. Judging by the photo in Frylocke's room, there is some coorelation between the two...perhaps they'll explore that in the movie...whenever they release it..if ever. It's the [as] way

lesson here is never take an [as] at face value

I mean, there's barely any chickens in the damn thing :p When I first
saw this show and the title, I thought It was about him being a superhero for
adults, not an antmated stop-motion sketch comedy show.
