JLU was a good test bed for several lesser known DC characters to show their abilities.

yeah, and same goes for the doom patrol getting a movie. Teen Titans had to be a primer for that. right?

Nice. But what's this I hear about the Doom Patrol? I thought there was a series/DTV in the works. DP is getting a theatrical release?

update: just did some digging at shh and found the Doom Patrol article. Looks like DC is gunning for Marvel at the box office.

Not one of my favorite characters, but a good choice for a movie. I think he'd be one of the easiest characters and concepts to realistically transfer to live-action.

Deadman would make a great movie, I really think it'd go well with audiences, the concept would entertain them and it would never feel like a super hero movie. If they nail the ending similar to the JLU episode then I't d be a great smal twist in the end.

Perhaps they figure, since 'Deadman's Chest' was a huge hit, the whole guy should do well, too.

:D

:Dhaha lol.I hope this movie is made by 2009.I just want to see how they will handle him.It would be cool if Batman was also involved since Deadman has played a small part in the batman universe.

If there's a Deadman movie in the works, will Warner Bros. work on a Green Lantern movie or Hawkman movie next if this is a hit?

Whatever Deadman is, it's bound to be better than the last movie I saw named Dead Man.

I can't imagine a Doom Patrol movie going over well. Of course, my only exposure to them is Morrison's run, which would at best be a little cult film and not a box-office juggernaut.

No.

The next Batman is currently scheduled for a 2008 release. To meet that release, chances are the movie's going to have to start principal photography no later than summer 2007, and the movie already has a director, a writer (I don't know if the script is finalized, but I'm sure it's pretty far along) and is primarily cast. Deadman has, apparently, a director and a writer. That's it. There's no way that Warner is going to cast the film AND approve a final script in 6 months or less, which is what they'd have to do to release it alongside the next Batman film. File that in the "Probably not gonna happen" drawer.

Well it was just a feeling...

The movie probably will not have any comic book reference to any other DC characters. Call it the Blade of the DCLAU.

I just made it up (I think)Oh ok.Thats actually a cool term.If there were references,I'm sure Gotham City would be the common one.

My big fear with a Doom Patrol movie (which I would love no matter what, even if they were crazy & stupid enough to try to put Morrison's run on film) is that the public at large will dismiss it as an X-Men rip-off. Most comic fans know the 'happy coincidence' origins of the two series, but the rest of the world doesn't & the mainstream news (especially the allergic-to-fact-checking AP) probably won't say anything about it.

I wonder, will the Doom Patrol movie be the cheesy 60's superhero version like on Teen Titans cartoon, or the screwed up horrifying version like Grant Morrison's comic?

I hope the latter. But at least Dead Man sounds like it'll rock.
