Coming as completely no surprise whatsoever, The WB has committed to a second season of Smallville. The announcement was made yesterday, Tesuday, by Jordan Levin, president, entertainment of The WB. The WB also picked up the critical hit Gilmore Girls for a third season. The show has been drawing in good ratings in it's new Tuesday slot. It aired on Thursdays last year.

"Our goals for this season were to reinvigorate and freshen Tuesday night and break a comedy, and we've accomplished both," Jordan Levin said. "The combination of Gilmore Girls and Smallville has been a huge success on Tuesdays both creatively and financially, and we are confident that this lineup will continue to grow."

Smallville is The WB's highest-rated program this season among adults 18-34 (3.5/9), men 18-34 (3.6/10), men 18-49 (2.8/7), males 12-34 (3.6/11) and male teens (3.7/13). The show has also been steadily beating it's other "weblet" competition on UPN. It's been totally destroying the no cancelled Roswell and has occasionally out-performed FOX's hit series 24. Smallville is expected to stay on Tuesday's night in the coming season.
