I am trying to get myself a rather unique ringtone preferably video game based that not everybody might know. But I cannot figure out how to do it. I have a Samsung model phone and Cingular is my carrier. Does anyone have any suggestions?

And while we're on this subject, I'm looking for a Final Fantasy Victory Theme monophonic ring tone for my Motorola.

I believe you can download any ringtone off the internet, and if you have a USB cord to connect your computer to your phone, you can upload the ringtone to your phone. I'm sure they have video game based ringtones out there.

Mine isn't unique, but its "Have you ever" by Incubus

I just emailed an MP3 of the main theme to Pac-Man World (which is a jazzy remix of Ms Pac-Man's Act 1 intermission theme) to my cell phone, and it works fine. I just don't hear it very well in loud areas.

And yes, I know that sending messages to my phone will cost me some, but my phone doesn't come with a USB cable or software to manage the info. I hear the major phone companies don't like that.

Doing it off the net would be your best bet. I used to have the Codec noise from MGS as my ringtone but then I got a new phone. Right now it's "Bat Country" which is a kickass song but not as unique as the codec.

Dude, I am going to download that MGS codec noise. I didn't know they made a ringtone of it! * googles it*

Ok, so I downloaded the .wav file. Can you guys explain to me how you email it to your phone?

With my old Nokia it was easy, it had little memory sticks that fit in the sd/xd/whatever it's called slot on your tower and you just dragged and dropped like you would to a floppy.

if your phone has an email or multimedia messaging service, you can use that.

if you have web access on your phone, you should be able to upload the song a website, then type that address into your phones browser and download it.

you should compress your wav to mp3 first. IIRC, foobar2000 has a good mp3 encoder included/easily added.

Thanks all. I converted it to a .mp3 file, using WinLame, and then I sent it to my phone via email. Still waiting for it to be sent.

Ugg, turns out I can't get it on there because my "plan doesn't support that feature". I suppose I'll have to find another way.

Well, if your plan supports text messaging, use this site. It's free (and it usually doesn't take as long as it says)

Oh, and your phone needs to be able to connect to the internet, too... to download the tune.

Right, that's the problem, I have a prepaid phone, so it doesn't support connecting to the internet. I think the only way now is through the USB cord.

Ah, free composer converters! Finally found my ringtone.

http://www.srtware.com/ringtones/

RTTTL format (Nokia):

32d6, 32p, 32d6, 32p, 32d6, 32p, d6, a#, c6, 16d6, 8p, 16c6, 2d6, a, g, a, 16g, 16p, c6, 16c6, 16p, b, 16c6, 16p, b, 16b, 16p, a, g, f#, 16g, 16p, 1e, a, g, a, 16g, 16p, c6, 16c6, 16p, b, 16c6, 16p, b, 16b, 16p, a, g, a, 16c6, 16p, 1d6

copy and paste this into the box for Motorola and I get a specific keypress map that I can type in.

It seems to change octaves when it shouldn't, but it's still a cool program.

If this works, for my phone, you friend are in need of an internet. :D

BTW I'm trying to have 'Cats on Mars' from Cowboy Bebop as my new ringtone. :)

I create the mp3 ringtones from sounds I own. For instance, I have a soundtrack, I pull the song, take what I want from it and tidy it up on audacity, then bluetooth it over from the mac to the phone. I love technology. No net required.

Am I the only one on the planet who still has a simple *ring...ring* on his cellphone?
