One of the greatest things I've ever watched. Just finished the last DVD an hour ago and my mind was royally blown.
I can't even really put it into words. But, in any case, who else loved it?

That's odd, I was reading "Cardcaptors Uncensored" and they mentioned this, and then I came here and it was here too.
I've been meaning to go back and watch this again. While it didn't blow my mind like other series have done, it was great fun to watch.

Is this the show where a girl gratifies herself during class? If so, I need to pick it up sometime!

Ah... lain. The show that introduced my fertile 13 year old mind to the wonderful insanity that is Yoshitaka ABe. I don't think a single series has come to that level of quality in the last 7-8 years or so.
Oh and yeah, the ending's still pretty wack.

As in bad or simply weird? I thought it was a beautiful ending.

There's no "during class" involved, but... well, I'll just let you wait and see. :p
Yeah, totally adore this series. Fascinating to watch.
Of course, I was disappointed when I read the director interviews, but I try not to let them sway my own personal enjoyment of "SE:L."

Unique and strange anime about an eccentric girl who ventures into virtual reality. Saw it on Tech TV years ago and recently picked up the DVD set.:D
It was pretty good though gets a bit confusing at points. Sometimes it is slow-moving but the ending makes watching the series well worth it! Recent dark anime series should be like this.

First "philosophical" anime I've ever seen! Loved it!
I could watch it again if I didn't let my friend borrow my DVD set.
I saw it back when TechTV aired it, and loved it. It's how a philosophical anime should be, equal parts mystery and action. Great show, highly reccomended to anyone who likes to think while watching anime.

Chiaki J. Konaka rocks, espiecally with Lain. Beautiful, distrubing, and yet interesting. Postcyberpunk, good philosophy without psychobabble, great theme song, and probably one of the more interesting protagonist I've seen.
Interesting Tibit: Bridget Hoffman, who voiced Lain (credited as Ruby Marlowe in the Dub), also voiced Juri in Digimon Tamers, also masterminded by Konaka. So it's probably no considence that Juri has a side ponytail that remicsent of Lain.

Along with Juri, two other female characters in Digimon Tamers share the same names as Lain's school friends in the original Japanese version of the show.

I've always felt that Lain was overrated, but that's just me. ABe-san's Haibane Renmei was a better title to me.

watched this through a bit ago...
I really need to watch it through again, 'cause I think I missed alot.
I was rather unimpressed with it honestly.... it just seemed SO... scattered, I am probably just missing something crucial and its not "clicking" yet.
