Please excuse the incorrect title. But commuters in Atlanta probably go by this place too.
While it's true that we've already talked about the recent billboard campaign CN is having, I thought this picture (from an Atlanta newsblog) would be pretty amusing. You've got to love the placement!

I went by that billboard less than two weeks ago. But at that time, it was a Venture Brothers advertisement. This ad is just stupid and pointless. CN's new ad campaign had annoyed the crap out of me.
Cartoon Network.....YES!!!!
That has to be the stupidest slogan for any network on television.

I actually think the billboards and related campaign is some of the best stuff to come out of CN in quite awhile. It's simple, gets people asking questions, and it is something that no one else is doing. Additionally, the related animated adds are character based, something that is definitley good as it gets back to one of the roots of a good cartoon. It's much better than some of the more bland ad campains that have been put out there.

I want to know how Cartoon Network is going to attract new viewers, if none of it's "Yes" billboards have the Cartoon Network logo on there (I could not find it anywhere). It's great that they're trying to get more attention, but how will these billboards build their audience?

You think "I pooted" will actually stir up interest? And the only people who actually understand the ad are the ones who regularly watch the show that contains the quote. Anyone else who sees it could care less. Especially the "I pooted" ad. I don't even think the kids in CN's target demo would respond in the way CN wants: OMGLOL! HE JUST SAID HE POOTED!!!!11

It said in one of the articles that as the weeks go by, stuff will be added to the billboards (including an actual identification logo, lol).

Including some "Cartoon Network sux" graffiti by local kids with spray cans.

The one thing that I'd like to know about that picture though is what the KFC people there think about it. You tihnk it might give them some more business?
Vague ads like this are no rare occurrance though. In my area there have been ads for Firestone car care centers and Suncom wireless plans that were vague for a few weeks but eventually had the logo and information added to them during the time. The thing is, with more companies using practically every form of media to advertise, it is easier to identify an ad style with a certain company.
It's much better than some of the more bland ad campains that have been put out there.
Exactly, it could be worse.

We had one in our area with "Look! I have a meat beard!" which just recently had Lazlo and the CN logo added to it. Now, the first time I saw it, it took me a few moments to remember that it was from Camp Lazlo, so you can just well imagine the average Joe asking "WTF does that mean?" :p

In Tampa we have had the I pooted sign up for a few weeks recently they added Cheese and the CN logo. It cracked me up the first time I saw it. There is also a Bloo sign that says "I'm a hot toe picker." I don't remember the Bloo reference though, I must have missed that episode.
I also saw cheese running across the screen making noises and saying he pooted in the pre preview previews at the movies recently. I thought it was pretty funny.

It's a recent episode. There's a scene where Bloo is watching the weather report, when the meteorologist says "It's hot in Topeka". Bloo somehow turned that into "I'm a hot toe picker".

i saw two other billboards just like that in new york. one said "Look, i have a MEAT BEARD!" from camp lazlo's "meatman." also, i saw another one that said "shiny, shiny, pretty, pretty," from gym partner's a monkey. it's completly weird, though. everyone knows he says pretty pretty shiny shiny and not the other way around.

I second that emotion. Never before have I wanted this strongly to found my own television network and buy the broadcast rights to "Foster's" away from Cartoon Network. The show is too smart for a network this stupid.
(I'd also have to buy all the other shows that got a bad rap from their networks - "The Looney Tunes Show", "Futurama", "Invader ZIM", "Whose Line Is It Anyway", "Mystery Science Theater 3000", etc. etc. etc. - but I digress.)

But what you gotta remember is that it's the network's goal to get thier channel message out there, and the YES campaign is thier BEST on-air campaign to come across the network ever. Yeah, you could say it's stupid, but it's smart in the sence of getting people's (more importantly KID's) attention.

i saw the weirdest thing when i was being driven down a certain street. it was a cartoon network sign that said "Shiny, Shiny, Pretty, Pretty," only it was different from the others. this one actually had a picture of jake spidermonkey wearing a bucket on his head, with a crystal doorknob on the bucket, and flashlight lighting up the doorknob. it was an actuall picture of jake's outfit in that very episode! not only that, but they are showing the CN logo on the corner of the billboard. it looks like cartoon network is finally showing drivers just who are making the weird red-and-yellow billboards.

the i pooted sign above the KFC is hillarious, now only if i have a spray can to change pooted to puked..
anyway, this is a really nice ad campagin, and it is funny, and it is stiring up intreast, as you see with the multiple articles and pics like these, but i think they should've always had the cn logo and etc on it to begin with, so peopel know what it is. And i think ithis is actually gonan have a negative effect on some people who sign the sign, who think it is crazy and blah blah lame excuse blah blah blah
i wish i could see soem of those billboards where i live

I saw an "I'm a hot toe picker" ad with bloo and the cartoon network logo on it in my area about two weeks ago. The logo did say "Yes" underneath it. But my mom saw that, and said it was disgusting. Will this have an opposite effect? Well, I think so. Only time will tell...

But people aren't gonna get it. These lines are from specific episodes, and they're put on the billboards totally out of context. And furthermore, when the billboards start out with nothing but the lines on them, people who don't watch Cartoon Network are not only going to be confused as hell, but they aren't going to know where to turn for an explanation. When the rest of the billboard finally gets added two weeks later, it doesn't help - people are going to equate this kind of stupid randomness with the network, and while most of its programming does fit that bill, "Foster's" does not. It's the smartest freakin' thing they have, and they treat it the same way they treat "Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi" or "My Gym Partner's a Monkey". And this ad campaign is just going to turn people off of it.
I just want "Foster's" to be on a better network! Is that too much to ask?

I'm surprised that so many people LIKE these!
You know, half of the people who see these are going to be repulsed and think "What idiots watch these immature shows?" I pooted... *sigh* When I first saw the Cheese commercial (though I dearly wish I hadn't) it was on Boomerang and the people I was watching with were responding to Cheese by saying stuff like "Get that thing off of [the TV]!" and in responce to "This is myyyyyy comercial. I like my commercial!", I don't! So it doesn't work on some people. And Fosters is treated like My Gym Partner is a Monkey, I agree, and it shouldn't be. Sad thing is Foster's will never leave CN unless it's like, 2040 and it's on Boomerang/Cartoon Network 2... After all it IS a CN original, so it's not like Disney'll air it or anything.

I know, that's what pains me. I try to block out all the ad breaks surrounding the show (the mute button usually helps with this), but I still can't eradicate the in-show bumpers and the credit squeezebacks...
This show needs to hit DVD in a hurry. That way, I can collect it by season and stop watching Cartoon Network altogether.
(Though it's not like the Disney Channel deserves this show either. And it wouldn't fit well on Nickelodeon either. Nor does it fit on any of the network channels' kids' blocks...oh, such is the curse of being such an unrelentingly, superbly, demographic-defyingly genius show like "Foster's" is. It's just too smart for children's television in general.)

Yes. Just a bunch of friends getting into various situations, with flat characters and a lot of plain humour and goofy gags. A perfect show for kids. It's goodlike to Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi or Camp Lazlo but still nothing special.

Liar! "Foster's" doesn't embody the cliches of children's television, it lampoons them. Who among you expected episodes like "Crime After Crime" or "Foster's Goes to Europe" or "Everyone Knows It's Bendy" or "Beat With a Schtick" or "My So-Called Wife" to end like they did? The people who work on "Foster's" realize the sorry state that Cartoon Network and all its programs are in, and they take that vulnerability and use it to satirize the hell out of it by grabbing these hackneyed plots and putting them in the blender until they become something new and unexpected. I can state without hesitation that no other CN show - nay, no other children's show, period - would ever think of doing episodes like "Partying is Such Sweet Soiree", "Duchess of Wails", "Dinner is Swerved", "One False Movie", "Land of the Flea", "Camp Keep a Good Mac Down", or "Squeeze the Day". The bottom line is, "Foster's" is brilliant, and it deserves better recognition for it.
It's people like you who don't look past the surface that don't realize how irreverent this show is. Get beyond the bright colors and happy-looking characters, and you'll find a universe of sheer, unadulterated brilliance.

I find it ridiculously overrated. I seriously can't see what's so "smart" or "brilliant" about it. No, I haven't seen every episode, but after watching a good portion of them I think it's more than fair to judge the show as a whole. I have called the endings for almost every episode I've seen. Coco getting the best present in "Store Wars"? Called it. Mac and Bloo joining to get rid of Berry in "Berry Scary"? Called it. Someone else hogging the attention in "Phone Home"? Called it. Mac and Bloo getting busted in "Adoptcalypse Now"? Called it. Mrs. Foster joining the party in "Party is Such Sweet Soiree"? Called it. Mac being in the classroom for being grounded and not a nerd in "Bye Bye Nerdy"? Called it a mile away. Neither Richie nor Mac winning the talent show in "Hiccy Burp"? Called it. Goofball John McGee being a REAL imaginary friend in "Imposter's Home..."? Called it even before the act break.
That's my opinion on the show, if you like Foster's, fine by me and good for you, but if there's a charm in this show then I don't see it, sorry. I also want to point out that I never resorted to insults, unlike you who called me a liar right at the beginning of your post.

There's a billboard in Nashville with Billy on it that says "Clowns hate tangelos." I like it. But I too wonder about their effectiveness. I definately think that using Cheese is a mistake. He wasn't that great of a character and his billboards are extra confusing. He's not even a main character.
Oh well. Here's hoping for a good Venture Brothers billboard (in an unrelated campaign).

I saw a CN billboard yesterday coming into Cincinnati on the eastside. It had Bloo on there saying that he was a 'hot toe picker.' Do you think little kids would pay attention to billboards? Coming from me, adults would pay more attention to billboards because it's mostly geared towards them.

I'm inclined to agree with you. I don't watch any Cartoon Cartoons, and after hearing about this campaign, I think I'll actively avoid them. I mean, I don't want to watch a show where the characters say retarded things like "I'm a hot toe picker." or "I pooted." But, then again, I'm not 8.

Yeah I'm heard about the Burma-Shave billboards before, but I don't think CN would ever try the Burma-Shave advertisements. Cars these days go by really fast and besides the government got into an arguement with Burma-Shave over the signs being so close to the road and being the same as standard highway markers.
I was just defending my arguement, tucsoncoyote. Most drivers look at billboard advertisements for info and other things to persuade to driver into buying it. Then again, kids could be involved too.
