This is the talkback thread for "Bleach" to Air in Early September (http://news.toonzone.net/article.php?ID=11470).

Saturday's quickly turning into "Shonen Jump Day."

According to Adult Swim's new updated schedule, it's gonna premiere Saturday, September 9th at 11:30 p.m with a "mystery show" at midnight and Eureka Seven being pushed back to 12:30 a.m and there's rumors going around that the "mystery show" is supposedly Trinity Blood (since it was on the schedule last time and then it was quickly covered up.. but we're have to wait and see..) but i can't wait to see how the Bleach dub turns out

Please Adult Swim, let the mystery show be Ergo Proxy and not Trinity Blood. :-/

I suppose this is the last Adult Swim will speak of it until mid September.

I was hoping they would have realized how stupid airing Bleach on AS is by now(I can't think of a less adult show), but evidently they haven't.

Maybe they'll get smart and Yu Yu Hakusho it.

C/S. From what I hear about Trinity Blood, it isn't all that hot.

I've seen the first four episodes of Funimation's dub of Trinity Blood (We had a screener) and it seemed pretty decent to me so far. I dunno how it turns out later on though. Here is the review Karl Olson wrote:

I'm surprised they didn't put it on at just eleven, then it'd kind of be like a SJ block, what with OP and Bo^7 at where they are now...

And don't forget that two Narutos are right before One Piece and Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo!

Wow, three hours of back-to-back Shônen JUMP Animé, to bad it didn't happen...

Well maybe Futurama's return wont be very strong and Bleach could get 11PM. But there is no doubt in my mind Fall should have had 2.5 hours of JUMP in a row.

Prince of Tennis, Naruto, One Piece, Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo and Bleach. Despite One Piece's bad dub that would have been glorious.

They might yet be able to pull off that starting at 9PM though. Infact now if Bleach is at 11PM they could very well have 3 hours of different JUMP shows.

Beet the Vandel Buster, Naruto, The Prince of Tennis, One Piece, Bobobo-Bo Bo-Bobo and Bleach. The JUMP fanboy in me drools over such a possibility. Hey... the 3 B's at that. Beet, Bleach and Bo-Bobo. Just imagine if the mystery show is really Black Cat (which isn't that good but still more JUMP). Then it's the 4 B's of JUMP heh.

It's very unlikely Bleach will pull a YYH even if the youth ratings are better than the adult but of course I'd welcome such a thing because reality just doesn't seem right with Bleach going to Adult Swim. But I digress... they should at least have it right after Toonami. But as far as JUMP is concerned... they're all on CN on Saturday night and being on different blocks doesn't make a lick of difference.

And as for Saturday becoming Shonen JUMP day... There's still more potential JUMP out there like Hunter x Hunter and the soon to be anime D-Gray-Man, Deathnote and Buso Renkin among others. And we all know One Piece, Naruto and Bleach will be on Saturday night for a VERY long time (well that's speculation with Bleach, it may not be as long as those two get). And if Bleach is a success on Adult Swim you can bet at least the likes of Deathnote will be going there (Toonami couldn't air that one anyway, too pyschological and full of murder).

The mystery show's Trinity Blood, as confirmed in another thread on the forum.

I guess I'll have to start giving Saturday's a looksie again when Bleach hits the air. I've heard mixed opinions of the show, I've heard it's a little like Yu Yu Hakusho (which I love), and then I've heard it can drag on like DBZ (I'm not a hater of the show, but it's not my "cup of tea.")

As for the mystery show... PRYOR'S PLACE!!! (They really need to pick up that show. :D)

We've already established that it's Trinity Blood.

And what the hell is Pryor's Place? It sounds like some sitcom that's probably on Toonami UK. :p

http://retrojunk.com/details_tvshows/948-pryors-place/ Here's the intro to the show. :)

Anyway, it does have some adult material. Police brutality, child abuse, and adults helping kids steal items doesn't necessarily fly on children's television. Plus, controversial comic (god rest his soul) Richard Pryor is the star of the show. ;)

Its likely that the youth ratings will be better, I mean it has that coolness factor to it.

And about fit in AS, in my opinion it fits perfictly with AS and the time its slotted. Simply since the series gets quite nasty later in (not as bad as Naruto and maybe DBZ got, but there is plenty of the blood in this series). I'm not at all a fan of putting it in a earlier slot.

That's Nice, But I think it should be on Toonami, Toonami would promote it better while Adult Swim will just ruin it in promotion and also mock it's fanbase like they did with Inuyasha.

Although Can't wait for Trinity Blood.

Bleach fan base isn't as prone to the mockery as the Inuyasha fanbase was.

Sheesh, its like they were asking for it.

And putting it on Toonami would mean editing out alot of um...blood. And I mean ALOT. It would suggest that when Ichigo fights, he literaly sweats buckets whenever a sword or sharp object cuts him.

And exactly how is Bleach going to be torn to bits by Adultswim? Seriously.

Jin
07-18-2006, 01:43 PM
No one said it will be "torn to bits." What we're saying is that Adult Swim will give it no promotion (they'll air a 15-second clip of random scenes slapped together five minutes before the premiere) and will move it to the 1:30 slot when the ratings fail because no one knows it's on. Of course, they'll just blame it on the show itself, saying, "The ratings failed because no one likes anime," or something. All they care about is their precious Futurama and Tom Goes to the Mayor. The only good show that gets any respect is Family Guy. To the people at AS, if it's anime, it doesn't deserve to get promoted, which is the stupidest attitude ever.

What's the purpose of promotion here?

People know Adult Swim airs anime, people who watch anime will know it's on atleast a week before it airs, people who don't, won't, but they wouldn't consider it anyway.

The thing is AS does the EXACT SAME song and dance for every anime promo.

No matter WHAT the show is about, the ONE promo AS will make for an anime is a 30 second mishmash of action scenes set to techno.

Clearly, this type of promo has worked wonders.;) Eureka 7? Let's not talk about the world and the story, show stuff being blown up. Samurai champloo? Story or background? Nah, stuff being cut and sliced. GITS? same thing.

Three radically different shows all having the same type of promotion. They all are presented as the same thing in promos. Blowing Stuff up, but now with Homunculi! Blowing stuff up, but now with Cyborgs! Blowing stuff up, but now with Hollows!

This is completely the opposite of what toonami does. They always have Cullen describe the show and it's premise clearly, interspursed with actual DIALOGUE.

This gives the viewers a sense of what to expect when they watch it.

ASA gives the equivalent of chucking a bunch of screenshots in your face, then leaving.

No wonder shows of both high and low quality get equally bad ratings. ASA presents them all as the same show in different clothing.

Hey, if anyone's good at video editing, maybe we can make a Bleach promo for the guys at AS. I'll provide narration.

Yeah, right, they'll watch it and say, "Nah, no one cares about the story. Let's scrap this garbage and show random shots of Ichigo slicing Hollows to techno music."

Here's a rundown of AS's anime promos:

Fullmetal Alchemist - random scenes of Ed using alchemy
Stand Alone Complex - random scenes of Kusanagi beating up enemy cyborg terrorists
Eureka 7 - random scenes of the mechs flying around
Samurai Champloo - random scenes of Mugen slicing enemy samurai (although they did have a pretty good Toonami-esque music video a while back)
Wolf's Rain - random scenes of Kiba and Co. biting people
Cowboy Bebop - random scenes of Spike shooting and beating up thugsDon't expect much for Bleach. These guys don't know how to promote quality shows. Their crappy ads only work for Tom Goes to the Mayor because the show already sucks. But when you slap together a bunch of scenes and throw in some techo music from some random artist who lives down the street in order to promote a quality anime program that you want to get good ratings, it doesn't work.

If your dissing on the first Samurai Champloo promos, I'm inclined to disagree. They had Psyche Origami make some original music using sounds and voices from the show, and it wasn't bad at all. The promos didn't show any backstory, but it had some of the style of the show.

Though even then I agree we need promos that show off the backstories, characters, what have you. In Adult Swim's defense, they made an FMA promo back in it's early days explaining Ed and Al's backstory. Unfortunately, that's about the only example I can think of.

You mean that 15-second ad narrated by Mark Hammil? That wasn't much.

That and inuyasha are the only ones that get varied promos. They are also the 2 most successful anime AS has had.

But It would retain it's TV-PG rating alltogether and It deserves to be on Toonami, Adult Swim is known to mistreat anime.

Heh, so Uryu is going to sound like ken and Ichigo like Vash. DSP can do a serious charachter like that because of Chaos from Xenosaga, but it'll be wierd to see JYB in such a role. He always does nice-guy charachters.

I always pictured Ichigo with a deeper voice because of his rugged design.

No voice for Chad?

In a way, yes, but at the same time its sad seeing people get their news elsewhere, especially when the site they are getting it from got it from us initially.
