View Full Version : What Games are you Embarrassed about?

Everyone has this. There is one game genre or series that you love, but are embarrassed to talk about in public. Mine would have to be the Gals Panic series.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/4/4f/Galspanic_s_screenshot.png
For those who don't know what this is, it's a Qix puzzle game where you're a little gem that has to uncover pictures of girls without getting attacked by witches, dogs, devils, boxers, skeletons, teddy bears, dragons, or anything else that's just plain weird. Sometimes the game will change the picture at random and you'll have to uncover a different picture like a ninja or a frog. The problem I have with this is the game is an H themed series. Yet I don't care about that aspect.
It's one of the most addicting puzzle games I've ever played. I'd rather play more games in this format and the closest we've ever got here on our shores to this type of puzzle game are Qix and Cacoma Knight in Bizyland. However Qix is boring and Cacoma Knight in Bizyland is slower, but it's the same basic game.

Embarrassed..?
I don't get it.
...I'm not really embarrassed about anything. Especially not a video game.
I dunno, maybe it's just me.

I really enjoyed playing the PS2 version of Legaia. My friends all say it's an awful and uninspired game but I can't help but love playing it. Final Fantasy X and X-2 can only be played so many times after all.

I'm a huge Kirby fan. There's nothing more emasculating than admitting you like to play a video game staring a pink puffball. That and I'm also really good as Peach in Super Smash Bros. Melee. Also there's playing as Toad in, well, anything.

You want an embarrassment. Play E.T. on Atari and enjoy it. LOL! Or Pong on Comodore 64.
But nothing's as embarassing as Strongbad's duck feeding.
I'm just kidding I like peacebyanymeans am not embarrassed by anything especially games. If I was embarrassed by those things I probably wouldn't watch cartoons.
I at one stage owned Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3.
I at one stage also owned a fishing sim.
TOP THOSE!

Space Channel 5, I guess. I'm not really embarassed by it, but the way people talk to me when I say I like the games can have a temporary effect of embarassment.
There is no shame in loving Kirby, though, because Kirby is @#$%ing badass.

Just how Mortal Kombat is embarrassing? Granted, when we were younger, we'd go around screaming "GET OVER HERE!" and whatnot.
I'm embarrassed about DDR, to be honest. When people say that it's for girls, I normally say, "Well, funny you should say that..." and I get embarrassed for people when they are stomping on a poor arrow.
Other than that, nothing else.
I loved the 2D MK stuff don't get me wrong (still haven't had a chance to play anything 3D other than MK4) - even SubZero Mythologies was alright.
Ulimate Mortal Kombat 3 for the SNES was a real waste of space, I was taken hook line and sinker.

I actually enjoyed that game. It's too bad that I can't find my copy of that game, because it would be great to play it again (Plus, I would also get to hear Booger Man fart again :D).
Anyway, even though I don't think it's all that embarrassing, some people may find it embarrassing that I own a copy of The Powerpuff Girls: Relish Rampage for PS2.

You forgot Volfied.

Well I did.
You might as well add these to the list:
- Barney's Hide and Seek for the Genesis
- Teletubbies for the PS1
- The Simpsons Wrestling
- Dual Heroes for the N64
- Paperboy for the N64
- Atari 2600 Pac-Man
- Mickey's Mousecapade
- Mario is Missing
- Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring for SNES
- Wizardry

Dino Riki
I made consistant efforts to conquer this seeminly unconquerable games that had ungodly frusteraiting difficulty
and when I beat the last level, I just ended back up at the first. Yes the game had no ending and was just a constant loop to see how high you could get your score, not to mention it had 8 levels and half of the levels were just negative colored versions of the first four.
Also it had hardly any dinosaurs
I have plenty of games i should be embarrassed of liking (apparently) but i dont care.

Actualy, I'm not ashamed of playing this game. I just wanted to tell you I had more fun playing Bonkers instead of this. vvv

Wake up the following moring in these girls bed's. No not the real spice girls, these girls, especially the blonde in the middle. I'll be scared and it wont because I slepted with another girl and I straight up man lover it'll be because they're hideous. Infact, the whole reason why I ended up renting this game was because...I dunno I rented everything else that was worthwile at 1998 and Smash Brother's was rented out.
Speaking of hideous the gameplay was abysmal. It was like playing a game without a objective, at least ET for the Atari and Shaq FU had some goals. Spiceworld was this:
1. Create a video out of parts of songs and pre planned syncronized dance steps. NO EXPERIENCE POINTS, NO CONFUSING THOUGHT PLANNING, NO SKILL, NO LEVELING UP, NO BRAINPOWER NEEDED.
Unfortunetly in my household if you picked a game, and mommy rented it, you better pretend to like it and play it. Therefore I was forced to be tortured until my mother returned it back to Blockbuster, if she bothered to return it in a timely fashion.
Years later as I'm typing this I began to think about the mid to late 90's in the videogame indrustry where they were trying to appeal to the girl market thru some game consols and PC games. Ok, the Spicegirls was all about girlpower or whatever and the Spicegirls hired some guys to create a game that's clearly marketed to preteens, young teenagers, and girls that doesnt require no brain power except create pretty dance moves and dance to the song. Mind you EVERYTHING is already thought out for you.
I think a lot of creative girls including me could have done well without the predisposed dance moves. In fact, I belive we could of handled playing a more well thought out, more difficult game that made it so we couldnt lose.
Did the creators of this game actually thought we would loose our "already dwindeling self esteem" if we didnt planned the right quarter step right? That we were incapable of playing a game that had difficult game mechanics like RPGs and ECT? Or that they think that we would enjoy a crappy game just because they plastered some popstars on the front cover and we like it easy?
Shame on you Spicegirls for not overseeing the developers as they created this monstrocity, same on both of you for belittling you fans and the gaming community and shame on us for buying us in. I just wanted a nice dancing game to play. And a big SCREW YOU to the developers from me because your game save somehow ERACED MY WHOLE MEMORYCARD when I saved your savefile! I WAS CLOSE TO BEATING FINAL FANTASY 8 AND I STILL HAVENT TO THIS DAY!
Some might say I'm probably reading into the crappyness a bit too much, maybe I am, but I can see thru this BS game and I think this game is offensive to all girls, gamer or not, because the creaters thought that we dont like a challenge.
I'm embarrassed I played this game but at least I have the satisfaction that a lot of us feel the same way too. And I cant get the loop of Who do you think you are? out of my head for seven years straight.

You know there is a code to make them all nude. Yet again since it's not a popular series nobody seemed to care about it and we'll be punished with Hot Coffee. :o

Nude right before the title screen, not the actual game.

Hmmm. I'm usually never embarrased to admit I like playing any video games, but I guess the closest I could get to that would be the fact that I still occasionally like to play DIDDY KONG RACING on the N64. And for whatever reason, I usually play as Pipsy. :D
Kingdom Hearts. That's a game that I always look around before turning on.

well if you count PC games, I got a few I'm embarassed about.. Try Aurun's Trainz Train Simulator 2004 (yes it's a railroad Simulator, where you can build your own railline (as big as you want it!) and drive trains.. Sadly you can't derail the trains unless you're a bad Tracklayer..
Then there is Sim Tower (yes Maxis and EA Games Strike again) Any "Sim" game I'm embarassed about including The Sims 2, but heck it gives me a look at how (Not) to build a house..
but then there's the original SimCity by Maxis/EA (No not 2000, or 3000, or Sim City 4... the Original game!)
And Finally... Microsoft's Flight Simulator (2004) believe me, I don't mind flying a flight simulator but when you got a roommate who asks you to get it "Realistic" well you can try all you want.. but Now I tell my Roommate.. (Get a Plane..)

Nintendo Power isn't too thrilled about it either. In their 100th issue, they had a top ten list of their worst games, and Bebe's Kids came out on top. In a later issue, readers even wrote in and talked about how horrible it was.

I think the worst game I ever played was Commando for the NES. It's an overhead view where you just shoot enemies that head towards you, and the levels scroll up. Most of the levels are rather repetitive as well. I actually finished the game the first day I played it though. Quite surprising even for me, since I found the game to be wicked hard.

There are a ton of games like Commando by SNK, Capcom, Namco, Taito, and Sega, and other old school companies. So it's really hard to compare and it was a big hit back in the day.
