Ah, Brian has given me a backstage pass and I've made it past Craig and Romey the bouncers, so Hatter has arrived! Anywho, the big B has told me to give my impressions, so here's Charlton Heston from Planet of the Apes. AAAAAAH! Get away from me, you filthy apes! Perhaps if you took a bath, you filthy apes would be significantly less filthy! Soylent green is people, I tell you! ...wait, he meant impressions of this board. Silly me. Well, here goes the comments of a guy who knows nothing of HTML and the hard work everyone's put into this:

Cool graphics blend at top! Then again, this place has always looked great with the choice screenshots. I also like how the board blends in with the style of the rest of Toonzone. Cool.

Hmmm... can't get private messaging to work, even though DG's online. Maybe it's not turned on right now?

Only three lines for biographical info? Waaah! I'm an English major, I wanna blather on for pages!

Wow, the typing area is... big. I'm using a little weenie Power Mac, and it's getting a little frustrating to have to scroll right and left just to see what I'm typing.

I like how a description pops up every time you consider using one of the buttons on top. The description's a wee bit small and tough to read, though. Let's press a button, and hope it's not the history eraser button...

Hey! I'm shouting!

Cool. Craig may not, but those buttons are handy for the HTML-impaired. Okay, that works, let's try the ole smilies...

Hee hee! Neat! It might be a good idea to warn the inevitable easily confused people that the text formatting, graphics etc. will appear as code while you're typing the text.

You all were right, the avatars are a great idea! I'm at work right now, buuuuuuut.... any of you happen to have a handy mug shot of The Mad Hatter, B:TAS style?

This place has possibilities... I like.

Ooooh, a spell-checker! Oh, thank you Brain! Er, Brian! Narf! It's a wee bit slow on my crap computer/internet connection, but hey, I'll take it.

Why thank you Hatter, that was bordering on coherence. Well, I know the "reply" drill now.

Hmmm... hey, what do the little envelopes on the left mean? Is it a way to differentiate between threads with new messages and ones that are old, stale, growing mold and getting nibbled by cockroaches?

Talk to Harl about that, I had a similar issue with the amount of space in certain parts of the user stats...

Really? The text box is itty bitty, and I'm only at 800x600...

Cool. Craig may not, but those buttons are handy for the HTML-impaired.

I find this whole vB code thing to be a huuuge pain. There's zip for functionality. And don't get me started on the buttons! They don't insert the tags where the cursor is, they jump to the end of the text! That'll have to be fixed. And the quote thing? What's so much harder about typing something like <HR>? Heck, it even takes less keystrokes, and you can customize it however you like! And what do you get out of using vB code afterward? With HTML, you've at least learned some usefull stuff afterward that you can use elsewhere...

Ah well, at least this thing logs hostnames. Now everyone can see mine by clicking the little IP thingy under my name. I mean, look at this...

rn1.res.WPI.NET

How spiffy is that? Espectially with my machine name at the front! Roman Numeral One, for those of you who don't get it. ;-)

Yeah, I know, all this new stuff and I'm most thrilled about having my hostname viewable... What d'ya want? I'm crazy.

Scrolling back and forth in the text box? Wow, that's tiny...'cause I have a 640 X 480 display and I just have to scroll right a bit to see the last three smilies....

Smaller than that seems really scary @_@

Well, in another post I noted that the text box on my home computer is really tiny... must just be a strange Mac quirk.
