I don't think any of us can truly predict that. My philosphy has always been to buy a boxset within two years of its release as there's no guarntee it will stay on the market forever. Given that the DCAU has a somewhat limited fanbase the odds that the boxsets will still be availabvle ten years from now is slim as opposed to say Seinfeld, Golden Girls, Buffy, etc.

If you're concerned about the quality of discs detiriorating most discs hold up pretty well to standard watching for longer than ten years. (I've had CDs longer than ten years that still have relatively few scratches) So if you bought them now, handled them with care, and avoided heavy use (Ie; Pausing a disc for three hours, etc.) they should be fine.

If and when HDTV takes off, imagine they'd begin re-releasing DVDs in high-def format...though probably be years (if not a few decades) before we'd see DCAU stuff re-released to said format.

</ignores his dislike of the way HDTV is shaping up as feeling like some sort of financial ripoff just for a sharper screen/the various digital-rights-management issues surrounding it>

Don't count on that. DVD discs are quite different than CDs, and there's not really any conclusive studies/evidence to show that DVDs will last long-term the way CDs have, last I checked. I know burned DVD-/+R discs have a somewhat shaky reputation, I'm sure factory-pressed DVDs hold up better but I don't think anyone really knows with any definitiveness.

I don't follow this topic that regularly though so if anyone knows more about this feel free to chimein or correct me.

-B.That's only if the original series were shot on film and or the original video masters were high enough resolution.

And HD is not a ripoff for anyone who has seen it at its full potential.
