The new Batman cartoon has been compared to BTAS a lot, so I thought I would try something different. Both The Batman and Batman Beyond are both cartoons about a younger version of Batman, which one is better?

Well, you KNOW Beyond is going to win this considering that's how this board is...

I'll go with Beyond. I've only seen the first season (and some later random episodes MANY years ago), but it seems A LOT better than The Batman.

Do I need to say it?Ah what the heck,Batman Beyond is obviously 100000000000000000 times better.

I tried to sit through the first season of The Batman and couldn't do it.

Another point for Batman Beyond. :D

Batman Beyond had the same intelligent, dramatic story material as B:TAS and TNBA. It even continued a few story arcs from TNBA. It had crossovers with Superman, Static Shock and Justice League Unlimited. The action was intense (blood poured, bones cracked), and the drama felt real (Terry's father being murdered, Bruce gradually accepting Terry, Bruce and Barbara's failed relationship, the rift between Bruce and Tim, Terry and Melanie, Terry and Dana, ect).

The Batman contains no such material. The drama is contrived and cliche (with the possible exception of the Ethan Bennet/Clayface story). The storys are dumbed down for children, the action is very weak and nobody ever gets hurt (let alone killed).

Don't missunderstand me. I am not dissing The Batman. I am merely stating from the adult entertainment outlook, Batman Beyond is FAR superior.

However, from the children's entertainment outlook, The Batman is far superior. It's all about perspective.

B.t. and his team were working under late-1990s WB broadcast standards, which were MUCH more leniant than they are now. Even if Duwane Capuzzi wanted to use guns and blood, he wouldn't be allowed to. If Batman Beyond were being made today, it would more closely resemble TB than TNBA.

The storys are dumbed down for children, the action is very weak and nobody ever gets hurt (let alone killed).Uh... many things The Batman may be deficient in, but I don't see how you can say it has weak action sequences. The fight choreographers know what they're doing, even if the writers don't. And people - especially Batman - get hurt all the time, with a handful of implied deaths.

Not to say it's better than Batman Beyond. Which it most certainly is not. Old Bruce is awesome.

Ok we really don't need another one of these threads. They're about as usefull as "The Batman vs. An Apple" thread.
