"Ghost Files: Yu-Yu Hakusho" is about a boy (Yasuke) who's sort of a bully at his junior high school, due to having a rough childhood under an alcaholic and abusive mother.

One day he spots a child about to be hit by an oncoming car. He pushes her out of the way and is killed. When he wakes up, he finds himself in the Spirit World, being led by Botan, a messenger, to the ruler, King Yama. By twist of fate, the King is on vacation, and his son Koenma is in his place.

Sensing Yusuke's self-less bravery, he grants Yusuke a second life, as long as he takes the role of a "spirit detective", which basically means 'kick demon butt'.

'Yu-Yu Hakusho" has had an average 20 million viewers per episode in Japan. The only show more popular than Yu-Yu was "Dragonball Z". It was also ranked #6 of the Top 100 Animes List put out by Brutus (a popular Japanese magazine).

"Pilot Candidate" is a 12 episode series set in space (boy, Cartoon Network gets a lot of space animes) with robots and the usual character soap opera. Think "Evangelion Jr."

The opening narration reads, "In the year 4084 A.D., humanity brought upon itself a planetary crisis where many planets were destroyed. Zion, the only remaining planet had to be protected by humanity from the alien species known as Victim until the day of hope."

Zero, Hiead, and Clay are rare boys who possess the special abilities that make them eligible for entrance into G.O.A., the training academy for Pilot Candidates to learn how to pilot mechas called Goddesses. (Pilot Candidates are simply candidates chosen to pilot mechas. Get it?) However, en route to the facility, there's already trouble brewing both outside and within their own ranks. While Zero gets lost, he finds himself inside the Ingrid hangar and suddenly he finds himself inside one of the Ingrids!

Plot summary of "Gundam 0083" from Gundam Project:

"The most epic of the non-Tomino Gundam stories, Gundam 0083 attempts to bridge the seven-year gap between the original series and the followup Zeta Gundam. As well as depicting the creation of the fascistic Titans, it combines huge naval battles, colony drops, massive nuclear attacks, monster mobile armors and top-quality animation into a fan-pleasing smorgasbord. The series was created by an all-star team of Sunrise regulars under the supervision of Takashi Imanishi.

On the last day of the apocalyptic One Year War, the bloody Battle of A Baoa Qu draws to a close. Learning that Zeon leader Gihren Zabi has been killed, Colonel Aiguille Delaz decides to withdraw his forces from the battlefield and fight again another day. With him goes Anavel Gato, the ace mobile suit pilot reknowned as the "Nightmare of Solomon."

More than three years pass, as the victorious Earth Federation rebuilds its shattered fleet and launches a secret Gundam Development Project to create advanced new mobile suits. Meanwhile, damaged space colonies are transferred to Side 3, the former Principality of Zeon, to ease its overpopulation. And at the asteroid base Axis out beyond the orbit of Mars, and at Delaz's hiding place within the Earth sphere, the remnants of Zeon begin planning their revenge against the Federation...

The thirteen-episode video series, subtitled "Stardust Memory," was released in twelve volumes from 1991 to 1992. In the "GxG Unit" promotion, a preview version of episode 1 was released in December 1990 as a special bonus with purchase of a Gundam F91 movie ticket."
