It has been one year since the Earth was defended by the DinoThunder Power Rangers. In that time, the forces of darkness have gathered under the city of Briarwood and it's Black Forest. Five teenagers turned sorcerers, aided by the mysterious Xenotome and their wise mentor Udonna, have defended the city and the magical forest, protecting civilian, fairy, and dragon alike, having defeated the evil Morticon. Now, with the Solaris Knight and a magical genie on their side, and former ally Calindor now the evil Imperious, they must save the day with their legendary power. They will attempt this goal with the magical source, Mystic Force!

Imagine a world without color, without music, without happiness... without the Power Rangers. Thanks to a wish from the vile Imperious, reality has been shifted. The Mystic Force does not exist. The Rock-Porium is gone. Udonna and Clare do not know our heroes. The Rangers must save the day, and the world, from the grip of Imperious and his evil warriors. Will their greatest ally in this fierce battle be the Solaris Knight... or the Knight Wolf?

Now, the question must be brought up. Rumor has it (and commercials show it) that "Dark Wish" is in widescreen. GoGo Sentai Boukenger is also in widescreen.

Should/do you think Disney will make Power Rangers Operation Overdrive widescreen?

Movie #3 / Episodes #591-593
Mystic Force Episode 19-21 "Dark Wish"Actually, it's 1618-1620 or 590-592. And I wouldn't call it a movie just because Jetix decided to edit three episodes together. Of course, we could always be surprised and find out it's actually a movie, but that seems less than likely.

Should/do you think Disney will make Power Rangers Operation Overdrive widescreen? If Dark Wish does end up being widescreen, I think that's a mistake. I'm all for widescreen PR seasons, but three episodes out of thirty-two wouldn't make any sense (though it would confirm Kalish had a movie in mind for these three episodes). As for next year, I'd love to see a widescreen PR even though I haven't made the leap to HD yet (and probably won't for years). However, I doubt Disney will go for it. Toon Disney doesn't have an HD feed yet (right?) and they're probably not too concerned about ABC Kids. IF they do widescreen, it'll probably be a future proof multiple formats thing; they film it in widescreen, but make sure nothing important happens outside the middle area so they can cut the sides for now.

The Jetix schedule has become erratic again, so here's a list of upcoming premiers. Don't worry too much though; as long as you get Toon Disney, there's plenty of chances to catch new episodes.

1621 - Koragg's Trial (TD: July 24, 7pm) (ABCFam: July 22, 10am)
1622 - Heir Apparent, I (TD: July 29, 6:30pm) (ABCFam: July 30, 10:30am)
1623 - Heir Apparent, II (TD: Aug 11, 8pm) (ABCFam: ???)
1624 - The Light (TD: Aug 14, 7pm) (ABCFam: ???)

If they air one new episode each week, we'll likely see a two-part finale aired October 2nd. I see two likely possibilities: 1) they mix in a few reruns like normal and we get the finale sometime in November, or 2) they air an extra episode one or two weeks and we still get the finale on ABC Family. I'm hoping for the latter just because it means more episodes quicker. Given that they've aired five episodes in June and five in July, it's certainly possible.

Of course, there are some fake iTunes listings for it already. Hell, I woulda probably bought it.

wow i've been kind of out of the loop with Mystic Force, I think Fire Heart was the last episode I saw in order after that I did see a little of the episode where Claire is revealed to be a powerful sorcerer, will I be too lost (or spoiled too much) if I watch Soul Specter and Rangerdown and then Dark Wish tonight or should I just wait for reruns to catch up?

Dunno, as Dark Wish hasn't aired yet, but nothing too major happens those two episodes...

Well, it looked to be three parts to me. Those fade outs without ad breaks at 8:30 and 9:00 were where the suspense filled "to be continued" belonged, so the breaks indicate a three parter combined rather than a movie to later be broken up. Plus different writers...

Seriously, why hasn't Toby fired them yet? So for the entire episode Toby was up on stage stalling?

Really, Jenji? Haven't the rangers figured out that he's worthless yet? It was obvious that using him would backfire, but that being Imperious's goal the whole time was a bit of a stretch.

The five teens and Koragg remembered the old timeline. I'll believe that on the grounds that Jenji bent the wish to help the rangers, but why does Koragg remember both timelines (knowing the rangers + "I found the egg...") and the rangers only remember the original?

At least Leelee didn't turn into a bug this time...

Too bad part three was a few minutes wrapping up the story and a whole lot of "wow, check out our new powers." And a "no cape!?" comment from Chip about Legend Mode would have been great.

My weekly Toby requirement has been temporarily satisfied...

Not a blockbuster, but good nonetheless. A-

...should I just wait for reruns to catch up?I wouldn't recommend it. There are marathons every morning on ABC Family (7:30-9:00am) this week that you could use to catch up, but I think waiting anytime after this week would be a mistake. Dark Wish will air again next Monday, but it might be awhile after that. The August schedules indicate Jetix will be skipping Dark Wish in reruns at least in the immediate future, likely as a way to increase DVD sales (like Wormhole).

This wasn't a filler though, so they'll have to put it in it's place eventually.

Dark Wish Airs on TD Friday and Family Saturday. I suggest <<-(SDP)->> should see it once you see Scaredy Cat, Long Ago, Inner Strength, Soul Specter and Ranger Down (Next chance is on Family on Friday)

Well, it wasn't excellent, and it wasn't a movie (no widescreen + awkward episode breaks + standard budget), and some parts kept throwing me off (okay, why were the powerless Rangers completeley B&W, but Koragg had hints of purple, yet the promos showed shades of light color. Late edit?), but it was an enjoyable three-parter.

I do gotta ask... if Koragg found Fire Heart in this timeline, how did he break the code?

thanks everyone, I finally got up to date on Mystic Force, except for the vampire two parter,
I'm enjoying MF alright, even though i'm not big on the 'mystic' theme this year, then again I wasn't big on 'police' but liked SPD a lot not just 'alright'.

Dark Wish was ok, it had its moments as well as its stinker ones, I really hope this was not the reason we got less episodes as speculated since it wasn't worth it for that...

I really hope this was not the reason we got less episodes as speculated since it wasn't worth it for that...Nah. This was just a regular three-part episode. Nothing in it even seemed to indicate a larger budget than is usually given to important episodes. Most likely, Dark Wish was created as three episodes in an arc long after the 32 episode order came from Disney. More probable reasons for the smaller episode order include Jetix's move away from ABC Family, ABC Kids having a hard time keeping up, or just simple regression to the mean of 26 (for kid shows overall, obviously the mean for PR is more like 42).
