I think the original poster had a problem with how the world 'bull' was used, not the world itself.

Pff... Using "bull" in that context isn't even bad anymore. I mean... Even 4Kids used it in their Yu-gi-oh movie...

I guess 'bull' is acceptable for the same reason 'freaking' or 'sucks' is; it's a stand-in for something worse.

Well bull isn't (unless part of another word) but hell and damn are. Although there are a lot more inapproriate words in general you aren't allowed to say in TVY-TVY7 Programming, the seven main swears are the most well known. (And those are hell damn, bastard, b****, s***, f*** and ass). So Bull is perfectly fine to say just as long as you don't have the s-word attached to it, since chances are people just say "Oh bull" without the other word attacked anyway.

I consider "crap" kinda like "sucks".

It's not a bad word, but it's rare to hear it in most TV-Y7 cartoons.
