The Blue Ridge Mountains better prepare for some rage in the cage when Friday Night SmackDown rolls into Roanoke, Va.
Since colliding in the King of the Ring tournament last month, Bobby Lashley and King Booker have been at each other’s throats. Over the past six weeks they have clashed four times, with each man winning twice. Last week, it was Booker who was victorious by disqualification when Lashley was forced to use a chair to fend off a 3-on-1 attack.
Every time Lashley and Booker have met, the King’s Court (Queen Sharmell, William Regal & Finlay) have gotten involved in some way. In Roanoke, however, that won’t be a problem, as General Manager Theodore Long has ordered that the United States Champion and the King hook it up inside a Steel Cage. With the unforgiving steel keeping Booker’s backup at bay, will Lashley finally vanquish his royal pain once and for all?
Also last week, The Great Khali continued to destroy everything in his path by wiping out both Tatanka and Simon Dean. He went on to cross Dean’s arms over his chest and mock Undertaker’s signature taunt, surely infuriated the missing Deadman. Will Khali claim more victims this week?
Plus, Gregory Helms will defend the Cruiserweight Championship against Super Crazy. Crazy has been having issues with partner Psicosis in recent weeks, and the two even came to blows after a loss last Friday night. Will Crazy be 100 percent focused on the task at hand? And if not, can Helms exploit that to his advantage and walk out of Roanoke with the gold still around his waist?
Find out all this and more Friday night at 8/7 CT on UPN.

Egads, no pre-emption!
Man, I really hate having the Diva Search on Smackdown, especially when it's the same exact thing as the Raw one. Not that I like it on Raw either...
"Hmm, Bobby Lashley's too exciting. Let's put him in a suit!" The end of that promo was awkward.
And here's Matt "Bawkbagawk" Hardy. Has he been eating too much chicken at Cracker Barrel?

That Ashley/Kristal segment was very painful to watch. I mean horrible acting. I wonder if they're going to turn Ashley. That would make Heel Linda Mcmahon like Ric Flair.
I loved the in-joke of JBL not being welcome in Germany. I bet few people caught that line.

Chalk up another messed-up catchprase for Mr. Kennedy. I fear we've heard the last of the good version.
Another Great Khali match is just what the doctor ordered, I always say!
MICHAEL COLE: "That's what the Undertaker does!"
Yeah, we get it.
Thank God UPN is less tolerant of buttocks than USA & SciFi are. But why do they keep booking this stuff lately?

The WWE scored a hat trick with male buttocks this week. All 3 brands had at least one male ass on each of their shows. A record.
As for Vito, the only positive was JBL's manic commentary. That's how great he is. He makes crappy segments worthwhile. I can't wait to see him bury the Diva Search segments.
Main event was so-so. I will say they're doing a great job building up lashley. He's hugely over. And he's very powerful. His main weakness is still the mic as shown by his awful promo tonight.

Overall kind of a lackluster show. They had as many matches as they needed, but most of them were pretty boring. Batista will need to work some magic next week, because right now I think their recent roster losses are really showing.

I can play along with alot of things that the heel announcers say because that's their job but calling the face a coward for grabbing the ropes is the stupidest thing to say on commentary, it was stupid when Jesse Ventura said it 16 years ago it's still stupid when JBL said it.
While Smackdown has suffered as far as it's roster is concerned it's nice to see the show go out with the winner of the last match celebrating instead of the disqualification/beatdown/screwjob/no contest/ass flashing stuff Raw's done lately

I think they changed the WWE opening. The audio was more muffled and I didn’t hear Bob Uecker’s timeless “Andre… the Giant” in there. I didn’t like it.
Mark Henry had time off because he lost last week? I think Chavo should have practiced in front of the mirror. The World’s Strongest Man didn’t need any practice to manhandle the two cruiserweights, but he’s had plenty.
JBL put over Gregory Helms in an awesome way by calling him SmackDown!’s ‘best kept secret,’ I just love how Bradshaw is doing. The match was a pretty good one and Psicosis made a smart move by kicking Helms when he got in the ring. If you noticed, Nick Patrick was raising Helms’s arm in a DQ victory in the background of the Super Crazy shot. The battle between the Mexicools should be a good one provided it is given a proper match or two.
Good to finally see Noble & Kash make what I believe is their official SmackDown! debut since they became The Pitbulls. I miss Velocity and hope we will one day get it back, but the first two matches on the card might have been pushed to WWE.com if the option was there.
Kristal didn’t take to kindly to Ashley bringing up how the Diva Search came out last year. Methinks there be some sore feelings there. I wonder how this could affect the Diva Search.
BOBBY LASHLEY, SHUT UP! His babyface Bob Backlund restatement of the facts once again took me right out of the game. There is no power, no intensity behind his words. You can be forceful and not sound angry. I’ve really started to connect with him in the ring, but his promos absolutely suck.
I liked the continuity of Finlay-Hardy from their last outing. If you’re fooled twice, it’s shame you though, Matt. I couldn’t believe he fell victim to the same move as last time when he went for the baseball slide. Little Bastard was great this week and I love JBL fawning over him.
Looks like The Miz represented the Real World and SmackDown! well on Fear Factor. He is strong competitor and I look forward to seeing that in the ring.
Kennedy made another step up this week facing off with Gunner Scott. Scott on the other hand took another step back. It’s like they have no idea what to do with him since Benoit went out. Khali putting him a bodybag is more proof of that (kickin’ it old school).
… …Yeah, so I think Vito was wearing a thong. …Yep, definitely a thong…
Anyone want to road trip to Montreal with me? Sylvan says it’s a good time.
The cage match was a great cap to everything that has gone on the past few months between Booker and Lashley. It had a good amount of time and the cage was effective in keeping Regal and Finlay out, but there involvement gave a great sense of overcoming the odds for the U.S. Champion. With Batista returning next week, this was a nice send-off to the main event attention these two have gotten.
Would be nice to see chavo beat the crap out of mark henry but that will happen next week,I expect this next week we will see Henry interacting with Batista.

Yeah, that line was just... "Huh?"

Please tell me Gary Wolfe has given his blessing to Kash & Noble. It's like Vince sending two guys out there and calling them the Dudley Boyz just because he has the rights to it otherwise.
Michael Cole may have had the line of the year with "They're gonna let you back into Germany?" he seemed to catch JBL off guard too if all he could come up with was "I had a problem there awhile back."
I love JBL. Not only is he hilarious on commentary, but he's also doing his damnedest to put over guys like Gregory Helms and Matt Hardy. I agree with VCXZX. I was once again dreading the diva search garbage, but if it's on Smackdown JBL could make them the highlight of the show.

Missed the show because I went to a baseball game with my girlfriend. In case you don't know, the bodybag was actually a subtle way of saying goodbye to Gunner Scott, as he's been sent down to OVW. Uncreative made him a jobber after Benoit went on LOA (leave of absence), and now they think he's not ready for a major push, which he might've gotten if Benoit stuck around.
If they're turning Kristal heel, that leaves Bobby Lashley & Teddy Long as the only African-American faces on the roster. Why is this happening?
They've christened Noble & Kash the Pitbulls (note the way it's spelled) 1) because of their size and 2) Vince probably owns the name "Pitbulls" instead of Gary Wolfe. They're your next WWE tag team champions come the end of the summer.
WWE's official result on Helms-Crazy was No Contest, so Patrick holding up Helms' arm was to indicate he was still the cruiser champ. Early indications were Crazy via DQ because Psicosis attacked him, causing the end of the match.
Next week should be better.

gold as jbl's been on commentary, i think they'll just stick him as the lawler of those segments. and if there's a god, they might even just stick to the brief taped studio segments and not even bring the divas into the ring until we just have the last one presented.(and hopefully kicked out of the ring by a ticked off edge & lita once again;) )
aside from the cheap pit bulls knock off gimmick given to an otherwise impressive looking team, i've got to give the smackdown golden moments to the great wisdom of micheal cole again;
cole: 'finlay just keeps to himself in the locker rooms. i don't think he has any friends at all on smackdown.'
of course, not only does finlay helping regal and king booker out for weeks prove this, but a backstage shot of all three talking in the back, plus the cage match really sells that line lol.....
