I'm watching the early pokemon eps, geez..they did NOT have the voices down (James sounded like Tracy...[same actor...]) Meowth sounded even worse than usual...

Hehe..

oh yeah, Team Rocket was semi-competent..

Maybe it's just me, but James started getting fruity once the show went to Kids WB. You know wearing chicks clothes.

I actually prefered Meowth's old voice. As for James, he was a little more competent early in the series, but he really started dressing in drag in later episodes.

All of the Pokemon had much more developed personalities back then too, :(.

Actually, the St. Anne ep(with TR in the schoolgirls get-up) was the first one aired in the US

It's always interesting to see how actors do in early eps. One of the worst performances I remember was Dr Bashir in the first few eps of DS9.
Yeah, TR do seem to have fallen. At the start, they were true villains. But as the show went on, they became wash-outs

Pokemon was in syndication before it came to Kids WB. Kids WB started Pokemon with season two.

did your local station have contests where you had to know the first pokemon in the rap?

Hey kiddiesunshine, judging from your title and where you used to watch Pokemon, I'm guessing you used to watch Samurai Pizza Cats on channel 50 also (I used to get up at 6:30 just to watch it). Those were the good old days of WPWR before it became UPN 50 (even though UPN kids was good for the couple of years it was on).

A year or two ago, pokemon was a huge thing in my house. We never missed an episode and loved even watching the reruns. I still watch it, but usually only in the background while I'm doing something else. It's just not as interesting anymore... :(

I did the same thing. And by the way, the Chicago UPN is UPN 50 too? It's the same thing up here in Michigan (by Detroit).

Samurai Pizza cats was such a cool name for a show.\
Ever play the Pokerap backwards? It's scary.

Anyone heard a Japanese PokeRap... Those are pretty weird too. The main guy who does it is called Imakuni. (http://www.geocities.com/fanofboth/imakuni.jpg)

Watching the episode this morning that introduced Brock, I can see now that the animation was a lot better also. Even if the electric parts were slowed down for the U.S. (they were weary of possible seizure claims), it was still interesting.

This is how I think the show should end:

Brock goes back home to visit his family, meets a girl that actually likes him back  , marries her, and they have ten kids (like father like son).

Misty finally gets a replacement bike from Ash (the louse), goes back to her sisters and their gym and takes it over.

Ash wins the Johto league championship, goes back home, wins the Indigo league on his second try (but has to beat Gary in a tough match), then opens up a gym. Along the way all his wayward and discarded pokemon (primeape, butterfree, Charizard, squirtle) come back and help.

The head of Team Rocket goes to jail, but Jesse and James are granted leniency for testifying against him, and have to do community service. They don't mind because it beats being hungry, tired, and blown to hell every other day.

In Japan, "Ash" is only a badge or two from beating Johto. I think the tv movie that was on a couple weeks back there might be a pilot for a new series this April.

Anyway, I dunno if the dub's gotten this far... I did see this ep over the summer and all. "Brock" does meet a cute boy-crazy girl who starts chasing him... The whole thing seems to imply that either "Brock" deliberately pursues women who'll say no, or that the right one is right next to him the whole time but it's a few years off before much happens between 'em. I have more ideas 'bout the future of Pokemon and I hope to get 'em up in fanfic form someday....

Last I recall, Ash just beat the Ecruteak city Gym leader, so now he basically has 4 badges left: The one from Olvine city (Steel-type Gym leader), Cianwood City (Fighting-type Gym leader), Mahogany town (Ice-type Gym Leader) and Blackthorn City (Dragon-type Gym Leader...gamewise, there IS a connection between her and Lance the Dragon-type Elite 4 member, though it'll be nice to see the connection the show has for 'em).

On a side note, I kinda want to see more of another Elite 4 member, Agatha the Ghost-type user. Gamewise, she use to at least date (ex-wife?) Prof. Oak   :o

There, my Pokemon fan side has been satisfied for today :p :D :p

I've got a question, what happened to Ash's Heracross?

He snet it to Prof. Oak to get his Toros in the ep where TR gets Wobbuffet. Oak asked him for Heracross cause he wanted to study it.

Besides, Ash needed a slot for Noctowl

He meets her, but doesn't get a badge until sometime after the beating the guy across the water with fighting pokemon. There's a whirlpool islands arc
