The romantic threads in X-Men: Evolution seem to be among the show's most interesting aspects amongst fans.

What was your favorite romance in the series?

Were there any characters that you would've liked to see get together? Logan/Storm and Kitty/Colossus anyone?

If anyone has anything to add to the poll, or you feel it needs adjustment please state so. I realize Rogue and Scott's little romance was one sided to Rogue's crush, but I felt it deserves to be listed.

Shame on you Screw on Head. This is my schtick and you totally know it. (Of course, it could be your revenge for my thread on character designs... which is your schtick.)

I liked the Rogue and Scott hints. I liked them even more after Frank Paur elaborated on the couple in his interview, but I still think Lance and Kitty made for better television.

Granted, I'm a mark for the Brotherhood. Most shows (post-Season 1) I liked them more than the X-Men.

I would say Spyke and Callisto but right now i go with Kurt and Amanda.

One sided or not, Scott/Rogue is still more of a "romance" than that Stockholm-Syndrome-reeking "romance" called Romy. (which, I am amused to note, is not included as a choice. ;) )

Rogue and Scott was so unexpected that I just had to love it!:anime: Everyone knows that Scott and Jean are going to end up together, and everyone knows Rogue and Gambit are going to be together. Who'd a thunk that Rogue and Scott would actually have some sexual tension? Bravo, I say!:D Bravo!

lalala-la-la!Romy forever!

Even if it wasn't "official" I think I like Romy the best and refuse to listen to
those who disagree saying the characters are too different to be together.
I don't think they're different,I think they're actually quite similar.
Gambit wasn't actually Mr.Merry Sunshine,and Rogue was...Rogue.They
compliment eachother perfectly!

As for a real Evo-Cannon couple I think I like Lancitty the best, even if
I'm not Lance's biggest supporter,I'm certainly Kitty's.Also for it's
equal cuteness,Kurmanda, though that couple didn't get a lot
of screentime, the idea was quite attractive.
Jott fits in there someplace, since Blind Alley is
a fave episode of mine, but I'm not a huge fan of Scott or Jean individually.(I gotta be in the mood for any Jott stuff, really.I like it if it's not shoved in
my face and I can web-browse for it on my own time.)

An Honorable mention goes out to Todd and Wanda, who, though they could never get together without ruining them being eachother's foil, still make me
laugh with thier antics.I'm also surprised the "relationship" was even used,
since in the long run it strikes me as something that would be a forgettable
part of comic-cannon.

Romy? Kurmanda? Have we really become too lazy to type two names?

This trend could get out of hand quick: Jott , Tonda (I think I prefer Wadd, actually), or how about Jed for that episode where Blob was all hot and bothered about Jean.

And what is this talk of Callyke (Spyllisto?), Shantosh? I do not recall them doing as much as batting an eyebrow.

As to Romy, I've found many of the fans of this couple are fans of the comic pairing also; so they do not necessarily like the couple on its own merits.

Kurmanda: I say "meh." They never developed her character. All we knew is that she liked her man blue and fuzzy. Consequently, she strikes me as a fetishist.

lol, she probably draws Furry fanart XD

But I think they developed her enough for us to know that she fell in love with Kurt and is able to look past his strange appearance and still like him! Plus she discovered his secret BEFORE the world knew of mutants, so it must have been quite a shock (I need to see that ep again >< is it available on a DVD somewhere?). She obviously doesn't hold from her parent XD. I wish there had been a bit more confrontation showed there... but I guess it would have made her parents look like jerks ^^;

I like Kurt and Amanda because the fuzzy-one is too nice not to get the girl :p andi t's an interesting couple in the context of the show.

lance and kitty get my vote just because they were a cute couple who sadly never really got together . I also like kurt and amanda since its impossible not to root for the fuzzy one , although I do wish it had gotten more screentime or even have her go on the cruise in cruise control since that was mostly afluff episode we should atleast get some blue fluff:).

Kitty & Lance

I also liked Scott & Jean....but I was getting bored with their "relationship" after season 2:shrug:

Lance/Kitty for me. It was my interest in this pairing that got me really invested in Evo to begin with, so you could almost call it my gateway drug. :) Their on-again/off-again relationship was very compelling because it was something that hadn't been seen before. It was a source of so much great development for both characters; Lance was transformed from an angry Judd Nelson clone to a complex, conflicted character that was more interesting than some of the X-Men, and the subplot allowed Kitty to mature beyond the "ditzy valley girl" that many viewers thought she was. It was a very cute pairing. My only wish is that we could have seen them discussing and coming to terms with what happened in Northbrook.

Scott/Rogue is another interesting "what if." The connection they shared was very bittersweet and believable, and I think the "You truly are an angel, Kate" scene was much more romantic than any of the moments between Scott and Jean and Remy and Rogue. Frank Paur's hint about their future together filled me with much glee.

I think Kurt/Amanda is a nice pairing, but unfortunately she was never much more than Kurt's official arm candy.

As to Romy, I've found many of the fans of this couple are fans of the comic pairing also; so they do not necessarily like the couple on its own merits. It's not just the comics; it seems that a lot of Romy fans grew up on TAS and liked the Remy/Rogue romance on that show so much that they keep trying to push Evo!Rogue and Remy into the same mold. Back when I still read Evo fanfiction, Gambit was constantly being written as a heroic X-Man who spoke in the third person and didn't have a bowl cut. In short, it wasn't Evo Gambit at all. I know I've harped on about the awfulness of "Romy" way too many times on this forum, but since this is a couples thread I'll say it again: the Remy/Rogue romance was one of the biggest missteps in the show's later seasons. The show gave us a reason why Kitty would fall for a boy who nearly killed her, but there was absolutely no reason (short of Stockholm Syndrome) to believe that Rogue would be so forgiving of a man who stalked her, abducted her, used her, and then gave her a ridiculous, "Well, I had a bad childhood too" excuse for his behavior. Mardi Gras couldn't have been that fun.

To be honest, the Lance/Kitty relationship was the only one I didn't like in the show. I'm not big on romance in the first place, but I didn't mind the others. And I liked the Toad/Wanda thing, that sure was good comedy. The Lancitty thing, however, never made a lick of sense to me (and yes, I've seen the scene in "Growing Pains"). Could I see Lance falling for Kitty? Certainly, but not visa versa. Lance hurt her friends (and her) too often in the past-- and after they started their relationship-- that I couldn't possibly see someone of her personality being taken with him. I only saw one possible reason for why Kitty would have gotten together with Lance, which I elaborated on in the first fanfic in my Evo series (shameless plug, I know)-- that she saw the potential he could have had to be a good person, and tried to bring it out in him, but to no avail. And even then, it admittedly doesn't explain everything about said relationship-- like how it lasted beyond the first couple of episodes that he still attacked the X-Men after the relationship started...

The Rogue/Gambit thing... I dunno, I saw that as more of a cautious friendship than anything else. Definitely not anything serious, in my mind-- and the Frank Paur interview confirmed my hunch, it would seem.

Scott and Jean. Yes, of course we know that they are going to end up together, but the way in which it happened was creative and interesting. Introducing Duncan as Jean's initial boyfriend was a good idea - it emphasised the "teen-ness" of Jean, who, as the most popular girl in school, was of course going out with the most popular boys. The Rogue/Scott relationship was also very interesting to watch but I'm glad it never developed into anything further than a short infatuation Rogue had for him - they do have a lot in common, but I think that's a good reason for them to be close friends rather than anything more.

When Jean and Scott finally did get together in Blind Alley, it was great - it introduced their psychic link and meant the completion of a Jott relationship that was new to new X-fans and whose progress had been presented with some creative twists to those who had seen Jott time and time again in the comics, previous shows, movies etc. etc.

In the X-universe in general, however, I'd go with Rogue/Remy, but though I loved Cajun Spice the fact that the relationship had to be rushed and forced onto the screen so that it would be there before the series ended meant that it wasn't my favourite in the show.

I liked Jean/Scott a lot, too, it was sweet and fun, but it was also a little too...predictable. Scott/Rogue, one-sided infatuation it was, was much more interesting(and like I said, way better than Rogue/Remy. Guh.). I was quite happy to see Frank Paur hinting at a future relationship between the two. :D

But my vote went to Lance/Kitty. I couldn't get enough of it, I still can't. So Romeo and Juliet, minus the suicides. ;)

I'd have to say Rogue/Scott. I've never liked the Evo version of Jean. I don't know why, exactly. I just don't. I like seeing Rogue's softer side, when she's with Scott. Otherwise, particularly when she tries to act tough, she's kind of annoying.

Oh man, that gave me a good laugh.Thanks,dude.

Really, though,I've been doing that long before those hollywood couples came along. Not to mention I don't give a flying fig about hollywood couples, and that's not why I type them that way;it just comes naturally to me and saves time. And I think it looks kinda cute.

But I don't come here much anymore, but if I do have to talk about couples again, I'll try to type out thier full names as you said please and asked nicely.

Evo-wise, I prefer Lance/Kitty. They just seemed the most interesting to me and I liked the development that took place in both characters. Scott/Jean were okay, but at times rather dull and while I love Gambit/Rogue I didn't care much for them in this series. I like the attraction/friendship between Scott/Rogue but I don't think they should have went beyond friendship.

Agreed...psycho-stalker all the way.

I have to admit a soft spot for Todd/Wanda...poor Toad, he tries SOOO hard...

I'd REALLY have liked to have seen one they never showed in the series: Kurt/Wanda.

Well, they were bothy gypsies. And they had a kid in the comics... sorta... In one of those alternate dimensions--that seem to spring up like dandelions in my front lawn--Kurt and Wanda have a kid named Nocturne.

Not to tangent too hard, I would love to see the Exiles appear in an X-Men show.

I hardly ever saw X-Men TAS way back in the 90s but I still have some images in my head of Kitty&Colossus being in a romance relationship. I'm not sure of this but did they really had something like that in X-Men TAS? If yes, then how come Evo never managed to encompass their relationship.

When I stopped by a few of the more obsessive X-Men: Evolution fan sites it seems like the Kitty and Lance romance was the big one and I don't blame them. While it was disturbing to see some fans get really carried away with it it was a major departure for the cartoon and something the show established as it's own and made unique. It was the typical "good girl likes boy from the wrong side of the tracks" but with a mutant twist. It was handled well. If anything it was given the most air time for any of the romances featured on the show. I don't have any preference but I do like how the show toyed with the idea of a Scott and Rogue romance as I think they could have really had a great time with a Rogue-Scott-Jean Grey love triangle.

i wish they had put x23 in the series more. i would have liked her to have join the x-men, and then her and spyke could have had a lil romance going on. that would have been awsm :D shes my favourite character ever! and i loved 'evan daniels' in x-men evolution. i'm sure they would have made a great couple. :( :crying: sucks that its over

I know: because she's Ms Perfect Princess times oh....about 1 MILLION...need "puke" smilie...

I think it's a little unfair about what some people say about Evo Jean, about her being the annoying "Miss Popularity" and taking everthing away from Rogue and all that. Whilst she did make a stupid choice going out with Duncan and it was a little unjustified for her to be jealous of Rogue giving Scott a Christmas present, these things were probably done to emphasise how she is a teenage girl, and part of her becoming an adult is changing her attitude towards guys. She didn't thank Rogue for saving her after her powers went crazy, but that was because she couldn't remember much of it.

And she was the one who was shown reaching out to Kitty and Rogue before they became X-Men. So it's not like she's some superficial high school queen-***** picking on the "lonely goth girl" all the time. Evo was about the X-Men as teenagers, and that it how Jean was shown.
