So I know what you are all thinking...is this some sort of bizarre coincidence or are we all doomed to seeing more of these types of movies with our beloved pop music stars?

I mean, we've already seen two of the NSYNC guys in their own movie, not to mention the ghastly thought of them in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, but let's hope their parts are cut from the final film. Samantha Mumba is going to be in the new Time Machine movie, but that's actually a legit role in a legit movie so props to her, but I wonder what Christina Aguilera & Jessica Simpson are up to? Perhaps we will be treated to their brilliant acting performances in something like She's All That 2 or maybe something with more substance like a Can't Hardly Wait 2.

I'm not trying to put any of them down really because I do enjoy their music at times, but that's the point, I enjoy their MUSIC. It was bad enough that Mariah made a movie, couldn't they all have learned from her mistakes?

Don't feel bad about putting them down- I don't. I hate Mandy Moore for a number of reasons, but the one that tops them all is SHE CAN"T ACT!!! She couldn't act to save her life! I was watching a little of The Princess Diaries and happened to catch her in it... I about puked roght there at how fake she was... as for Ms. Spears, can't stand her either and from the buzz off her new one, Glitter may just be a better flick...

No need for bloodshed. I just hate that production companies waste resources on these "films" when they could go to something that has the potential to be good.

While I wish these movies wer eneevr made, it's just not cool to wish death upon these people. Show some respect. I would like to see some good movie sin their place, but the companies are just trying to cash in on the current (and seemingly neverending) "pop" craze. It would've been nice to see a good movie out of this (A.J's alcohol problem is perfect for a movie of the week) instead of these horribly cheesey flicks.

I think that when celebrities do career crossovers more often than not they either ruin their careers or hurt their reputations. Sometimes even crossing different areas of careers can be bad. There are many examples of this. I will list them.

1. Music to Acting (The Most Common)
a. Spice Girls (Spice World)
b. NSync (On the Line)
c. Mariah Carey (Glitter)
d. Mandy Moore (Princess Diaries, A Walk to Remember)
e. Method Man (Belly, How High)
f. DMX (Belly, Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds)
g. Britney Spears (Upcoming)
h. Eminem (Upcoming)

2. Sports To Acting
a. Shaquille 0'Neil (CB4, Blue Chips, Kazaam, I Am Your Child, Good Burger, Steel. He doesn't no when to stop!)
b. Dennis Rodman (Double Team, Simon Sez, Cutaway)

3. Changing to Politics

1. Jesse Ventura (Former Wrestler now Gov of Minnesota)
2. Ronald Reagan (Former Actor then bumbling US President)
3. Fred Thompson (Former Actor now Senator of Tennesee)

Thats all I got now.

What! Respect? These people have no idea what respect is! They're prepackaged trash who prey upon the stupidities and hormones of teenagers. What they do is legal because we live in a free society. They should show some respect and not spew forth talentess crap to further strangle our culture to death!

I don't care how they go, they must GO.

What about the category of Acting to Music? There have been unsuccessful attempts (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and successful ones (J-Lo, depending on who you ask).

And all this time we thought Hollywood was greedy, well I guess we were proven wrong if they're still wasting money on this crud. :p

Wasn't Aalyah (God bless her soul) also in Romeo Must Die? Or am I getting confused again?

And from what I've seen, there have been exceptions to the rules: Will Smith, for the most part, fared rather well in both music and acting (His strong point is acting though, IMHO). I've yet to see Ali, so I can't say how his currently holding up.

Another who sorta lived through both an acting and music career is Chayanne, a highly popular Puerto Rican pop star (term used loosely, especially when the guy can croone a nice ballad every now and then ;) :D :D ) who was the male lead in the movie Dance with Me (he co-starred with Vanessa Williams, who I think did ok in the flick.) There was also a homegrown film he starred in before, but seeing as most films made in Puerto Rico usually suck mucho balls, I haven't seen his work in it.

Others include Marc Anthony, a salsa/Merengue singer, has poped up in several movies(mostly action movies, strangely enough) and Ricky Martin (well, I recall him in General Hospital at least, though my mind is blurred on wether he's ever appeared in a film or not. Then again, there *IS* that one Menudo movie...)

Ok, shameless PR pluggin' done *wavies a tiny Cuban flag with the colors swapped, A.K.A. the Puerto Rican flag* Como yo, Boricua! :p :p :p

I have a friend who works for a movie theatre and they get in the concession stand junk for Britney's movie this week. I'm looking forawrd to a picture of her buring a large pile of leftovers and waste cups. :D

Hey, GC, or Deltamon, nice to see you around. :)

Don't forget the late Representative Sonny Bono, Republican, Palm Springs, CA.
And don't dismiss Reagan as "bumbling". He cleaned up Carter's mess, crushed Soviet Communism, brought prosperity and wealth to the nation despite being forced to live under the thumb of a Democrat Congress that opposed him bitterly every step of the way, and unlike Bill Clinton, never engaged in carnal trysts in the Oval Office, arranged the murders of his enemies, or had a veep that supported abominable casues like partial-birth abortions, taking away our guns, or the TV ratings system.

Of course Reagan did lead our country into a dizzing spiral of international debt.

Speaking of bumbling, has anyone seen the old SNL skit where Reagan pretended to be nice and docile for the cameras then when everyone was out of the room he'd sneak in some military advisers and be a fierce leader? It's good stuff.

I dunno, from what I've heard the Mandy Moore movie isn't that bad... and she can kinda act. Better than Britney and Mariah, anyway. Still, it's not a perfect world wherein they can get acting work and, say, the Jons from They Might Be Giants and Les Claypool can't...
