The article says this move reflects 4kids pushing away from anime licensing.

Ah, the notorius Summit Media branch which was once quoted in an article that was picking on CN for some of it's anime picks IIRC.

Glad to see that piece of their shellgame die.

Y'know, ever since Pokémon moved to KWB, I hadn't heard a peep out of this thing until now. I can see why it was shut down.

You mena the people behind "Sushi TV" have closed up shop? Aww, too bad.............not. Anyone who tries to sell a network on MD Geist with a cheap "model" like that is asking to be shut down

This better not be the lot that did Man'Kin.

SK's dub was better because it was handled by TAJ (same VA pool, better directors).

I think in 2007 FOX will drop its 4 Kids TV deal after 5 years with this idea plan:
* The FOX 4 Kids TV block on Saturdays will be dropped in favor of a FOX News Saturday show for the network and 3 hours of syndicated E/I shows for its local stations (unless some FOX stations plan to air Saturday morning local newscasts like some FOX stations do).
* The FOX owned My Network TV will strike a deal with Canadian animation studios Cookie Jar and CineGroupe for its own 4 or 5 hour Saturday morning kid show block with shows old and new produced by Cookie Jar (like Spider Riders which currently airs on Kids WB, but not Arthur or Postcards from Buster which are still under contract with PBS Kids) and CineGroupe (like maybe reruns of previously aired on FOX/ABC Family What's With Andy and reruns of previously aired on PBS Kids Sagwa the Chinese Siamese Cat). But will Bratz stay on the new My Network TV kids block if it is a CineGroupe produced show and not a 4 Kids show? Maybe the 2007-2008 Pokemon season could be acquired by Cookie Jar or CineGroupe to be aired on the My Network TV kids block.

Are you serious? Anywhere I can find that article?

What's Sushi TV?

What's Sushi TV?

It was an very ver lame attempt by Summit Media to sel lthe dregs of CPM's catalogue for TV broadcast using an asian lady who's apparent occupation was of a decidedly "adult" nature.

An almost exact quote. "I want an ultimate man like M. D. Geist":ack:

Dead serious, but the article ran years ago, and the archives for the newspaper that ran it aren't free (http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/nydailynews/318781801.html?did=318781801&FMT=ABS&FMTS=FT&date=Mar+27%2C+2003&author=PHYLLIS+FURMAN&pub=New+York+Daily+News&desc=KIDS+TUNING+OUT+CARTOON+NETWORK), but here's an editorial from TZ's own Jeff Harris that references the incident: http://www.thexbridge.com/check2.html

Here I thought you were talking about the bad TV Guide segment where they make fun of Japanese game shows.

You know, I actually remember seeing a one or two sentence synopsis of a show titled "Sushi TV" about ten years ago or so in a TV Guide fall preview issue. I remember it basically just said it was anime movies, not really describing anything else about it. I checked my listings but never actually found the show. Did it actually air on any affiliates?

As far as I know, no. I think MD Geist already had a sterlin reputation as a total waste of every resource put into it and no one took the bait. At least, no one I ever heard of.

Nope, not at all Duke.

I fail to see how this will lead to the ultimate demise of 4Kids Entertainment. It's going to take much more than 4Kids moving away from anime licensing to see them crumble.

Getting them away from anime is all we need. Outside of anime, they're a pretty good business financially and even content-wise, they tend to do better as well.

Outside of anime, they're a pretty good business financially and even content-wise, they tend to do better as well.Well, in addition to anime, I'd prefer to see them keep away from European properties, as well, after what they did to Winx Club. But, yeah, when they focus on developing their own properties, everything about it tends to be better.

And that's why we all need to hope that One Piece starts failing at some point, that TMNT regains popularity with Fast Forward, and that, regardless of what you think of it, that Viva Pinata becomes successful. The more their original properties succeed where their acquisitions fail, the better off we are.
