I'm now seriously considering buying one of these, is there an advantage to buying a regular DS or a DS Lite that I haven't considered yet
?

If you're not a big fan of handheld games, you don't have to get it.

However, I think the Nintendo DS is a very unique system. It has the special touch screen feature plus if you have GBA games you can play them on the DS(But not Gameboy games  ) So far, there's some great DS games to play with like The New Super Mario Bros.

I bought a DS Lite and I'm having a blast with it. Go for it, you're bound to enjoy it more than a PSP anyway ^__^

Get DS Lite. Same price, brighter screen, and you can actually put it in your pocket without your leg getting numb!

If you're asking this then you already know the answer,
you just want other people to tell you to go ahead and buy it.

The DS lite has weaker speakers. It's not a big deal, but I thought you should know about it, incase you like to keep the speakers blaring out.

I just noticed that today. I couldn't hear it over the TV and I thought I was bugging I thought there was a problem with the speaker because I used to the sound on my old ds. But heck thats not that big of a problem I just turn down the volume.

i actually don't mind the less booming speakers. don't need them in my opinion

if you can find a regular ds for cheap, you may want that, dalek, but if you'll be playing it constantly, you diffenently want a ds lite. brighter screen, bigger stylus, and if you're like me and have big hands, you'll thank yourself for getting a lite due to the pure comfort of holding it

Do you like Video Games?

Then buy a DS Lite. And since you're british, you can even get that fancy black one.

(There's a reason I own 26 games for it right now)

The DS Lite speakers don't have as high a volume output, but they have better audio clarity.

The one major disadvantage to the DS Lite is that GBA games will stick out from the GBA slot. Not a big deal while playing them, but annoying if you plan on carrying around the system with a GBA game inserted.

Overall, the DS is a great value. It has a fantastic library, and its GBA compatability makes it an awesome value if you don't already own a GBA.

If you are a liker of things good, get a Nintendo DS. I once felt handlhelds were the poor man's video gaming.

The Nintendo DS experience is now on par with any of my other consoles. I'm just waiting for the black to come out.

Another advantage of the oringal over the lite is that in the lite the GBA carts stick out HORRIBLLY... well ok they dont stick out much, but it still looks pretty tacky tbh.

Id still get a lite nevertheless tho. stylishness ftw!

Thrustmaster is actually cheaper IIRC

For the price of those wireless USB devices you can get a whole freakin' Linksys or Netgear 4-port wireless router for about $10 more. Don't bother with the USB stuff, I'd just go with the full on-router. One less program for your PC to run.

Speaking of routers, I got a Lite recently and am wondering what I need to do to go Wi-fi with my current setup. My brother and I have a cable connection for our internet and it runs through a Netgear router (WGR614 v5). I haven't tinkered with it much yet, but I recently got Animal Crossing for the DS and my brother has Mario Kart, so the desire for Wifi is slowly increasing around here. I looked up my router on the list over at nintendowifi.com, and was a bit discouraged to find a note that specifically states that my router "rarely connects successfully to the service."

Anyone have any pointers before I start tinkering with the settings on my router and DS?

I've got a Lynksys Cable/DSL Router for my Terminals

would I be able to switch to a Wifi Lynksys router and have no issues with it.

I did try and buy a Wifi Router once years ago and connected it to my modem and PCs but I wasn't getting a signal to get online, so I just bought the same model Lynksys

If Nintendo states it rarely connects, then I really don't know how you're going to get it to do so. Your best bet would to buy a new, compatible router if you want to go online with the DS.

No issues with what? Your Cable/DSL or your DS going online? Keep in mind that not all routers are wireless. If they don't have the black antenaes sticking out the back or state an internal wireless signal, then there, obviously, won't be one.

I've no idea what you just said.
