Is Tenchi an action cartoon?

Tom claims that ALL of the Toonami shows are all "action cartoons"

But Tenchi... Give me a break!!!

The OVA, maybe, but Tenchi is primarily a comedy.

Tenchi is an action cartoon, sure. I mean, how can you watch that sword fight between Yosho and Kagato (in Ep 5, I believe) and not think it's one of the coolest action scenes ever animated? There's also the battle between Ryo-Ohki and Ayeka's ship, and of course the space battle between Ryo-Ohki and the Souja...

Of course, Tenchi isn't only an action 'toon. It's a romantic comedy too. But if you're looking for action scenes, you don't have to look too hard. (Although I'll admit they're kind of hard to find in the second OAV...)

tom's right. think of action/adventure/comedy series u most likely fit drama in there too. Tom knows he just never says the whole thing. i've read this at tenchi interviews and on websites

Batman/ superman labeled action/adventure series.

Universe and Tokyo do too, especially all those goofy monster battles in Tokyo. Not the typical action fare, but its action nonetheless.

I'd say that it's mostly comedy, but there's no denying that it has its share of action. If I had to put it in just one category, it'd be "comedy," but I don't see any reason why it should have to be put into a single category.

Primarily Tenchi is a comedy (there's no disputing that), with a high tendency for action at times. Between the OVA's, Universe and Tokyo I'd say there are enough action sequences to justify Tenchi's spot in the lineup.

I'd say that the OAV is half action, and the other two are definitely full-fledged action cartoons.

Since there is no "both" option, I'd have to say 'no' as well. Its got some action, but the majority of the series is sci-fi, comedy, and drama. It has more qualities of a sitcom than an action show.

I heard tat Tenchi is both a miof comedy and action becaus usually the beginning episodes are basically for comedy, but later on, it starts to ge into action.

I think Tenchi is an Action show. There is some action,but not ACTION ACTION you know what I'm saying? It has different action,not the blood and guts action.

Is Tenchi a comedy cartoon? Yes.

[indent]There is no reason it can't be both. Their may be a lot of comedy in the series, but 90% of the episodes have at least some action in them also. The overall plot is of the series is action based also. They have to defeat the bad guy and that usually involves some sort of battle. Overall Zoids is probably even less serious than Tenchi and it is definitely an action series.

Zoids is not as serious as Tenchi, that is true, but it has one or more zoid battles per episode. Thats definitely a lot of action. Most of the tenchi series does not actually have any real action. When I think of action, I think a duel, a war, etc. When I think of tenchi I am reminded more of a sitcom than an action show. It has action, but more drama and comedy than action. I'd say its about 70% sitcom, 30% action. So if there is no both option then the numbers speak in favor of it being a sitcom, not an action show.

Um..you didn't read the other posts did you. There IS action just more in Muyo than Universe and Tokyo.
