They advertised it, it was in T.V. schedules, but they pre-empted Futurama for two episodes of The Simpsons. What is wrong with them?
Well, besides the obvious.

I didn't even see Futurama in the listings here, just Simpsons re-runs. You know, this is a bad week to start rating the shows for Nielson. They already cancelled Tick, not to mention it wasn't on Thursday anyway, and now Futurama isn't even on. The two shows I was hoping to show my support for the most weren't even on. Rather disappointing.

They ran promos for it last week on their Washington D.C. affiliate (I have it on tape) and it was in my T.V. listings. The episode that was supposed to run was called Godfellas, and in it Bender was supposed to meet God.
But, alas, it was yanked at the last minute for some crappy game show called The Chamber.

When I saw the "Simpsons one hour EVENT" I mistakenly assumed it was an hour-long episode. Now I hear it was just two episodes.
This is another reason why the Simpsons should be cancelled and its memory wiped from the world. The more it does crap like this, the more it deserves to be cast into the world of terrible cartoons like "The Harlem Globetrotters" and "Pac-Man."

Yeah, here in Oregon after last week's episode they showed a preview for an all-new one to air this week, but NOOOOOO! How many episodes were ordered for this season. If it's 20 something, then they would have to show an all-new one every week from here on out to make it to May season finales.

FOX killed The Critic, and its shabby treatment of Futurama goes to show that this is one fox that never learns. Futurama premiered on Tuesdays at 8:30, at the same time as NewsRadio. NewsRadio was a great show which decreased in quality when Phil Hartman died. Incidentally, Phil Hartman was originally supposed to play Zapp Brannigan on Futurama. And I had to choose between both shows. Then, of COURSE, Futurama moved to Sundays at 8:30 AFTER NewsRadio was cancelled. Nice, huh? That was a good time slot even though its popular lead-in, The Simpsons, still sucked. Then when Malcolm in the Middle premiered, FOX pushed it by sticking it right after The Simpsons and moving Futurama to the unheard-of spot on Sundays at 7:00. And THAT'S where the shabby treatment comes in. Let's just forget for a minute that continually changing around a show's time slot ALONE is a great way to lose its audience. Can anyone think of a more asinine time slot than Sundays at 7:00? Who even watches TV then? It makes no sense. It's not even prime time. I remember tuning in countless times to discover the damn football game was running long, then they would cut into the BRAND NEW Futurama episode ALREADY IN PROGRESS. How does that happen? They should be thankful to have such a great show and treat it right, or they may not get the chance to run it into the ground, like The Simpsons. This reminds me of other shows FOX is misplacing.
Family Guy has no chance on THURSDAYS AT 8:00. This is when everyone watches Friends and Survivor. Obviously they need to put something on Thursdays at 8:00, but they should save a show as strong as Family Guy for an evening when they actually have a shot at winning the night. There is no competing with NBC and CBS on Thursdays.
And lastly, while I'm on the subject of FOX, I heard a few years back that FOX wanted to do a Married ... With Children reunion show, but Ed O'Neill told them to forget it because he was still mad that they cancelled the series after the Kelly's Wedding episode instead of giving it a proper series finale. When you think about it, Married ... With Children sure deserved it. That show kept the ratings rolling in for a decade. And while it may not have been at its best when it was cancelled, it was still consistently funny and far from being run into the ground. When asked to do the reunion show, I believe Ed O'Neill replied by suggesting the opening scene be the family gathered around Al Bundy's grave, because he wasn't going to do it.

Yeah, 7:00 is a pretty lousy time. I'm either taking a shower or doing homework, and I completely forget to watch it or that it's on. Then I remember afterwards  I love Futurama, it's too bad it's being treated this way. We need more Bender! At least put it on DVD so I can see it every month or so ;)

I watched that Chamber thing out of morbid curiosity... ugh. Where's the entertainment in torturing people? And could they have put it on Wednesday, where they have a gaping schedule hole anyway? Lousy Fox...
