I'm not the type of person to wait on a long line for things or peroder ahead. Most liky tommorrow I'll be home all day and won't have any time to hit the gamestore till after work on Monday. So I'm wondering if I'm going to be able to find one or should I leave my house in the morning and try to get one before they are sold out?

I've heard only a few rumors, but is it true that the DS Lite has abuilt-in web browser? If not, would it be expensive to make one?

alex toon: i'm not sure, but i don't think mine does. mine just functions like my regular old ds, except it's brighter of course :D
got mine at 12:04am last night
me: "excuse me. do you know when you'll be getting the ds lite?"
storekeep: "umm... i don't know"
me: "could they be in that box labeled 'do not sell before street date'?"
storekeep: "umm... i don't know" *opens box and hands me a ds lite*
me: "wOOt!"
needless to say, living in rural minnesota has its finer points. reserving is pointless as you can just go to the store and get one anyway

Does anyone know if there are any cases for the Lite that can be worn on the belt like cell phone cases or pouches.

I checked one of my local Best Buys at a little after noon today and they had 6 or 7 DS Lites on the shelf. I picked one up along with a copy of New Super Mario Bros. and Brain Age. When I got to the checkout lane, I discovered much to my delight that Brain Age was free with the purchase of a Lite. I didn't check the ad, so I was unaware of this "coupon" to which the cashier referred, but heck, I'll take a free game anyday. :D
I haven't played anything on the system yet (letting it charge at the moment), but it's definitely a sleek little design. I tried to compare the weight of it with my brother's blue DS, but the difference doesn't seem incredibly noticeable to me. I think I'll be able to say for sure once I've played with it for awhile. I know my brother's would make my hands and/or wrists cramp up from the weight of it sometimes. My only complaint about the new design is that I would have liked an option to keep the stylus on the left side of the DS. They moved the stylus slot from the back to the right hand side on the Lite, which is all well and good, but THIS leftie has always held the stylus in his left hand. Oh well, I usually don't keep the stylus in the slot when I'm playing a game that requires it anyway. I just set it on my lap or on a nearby desk or table.
I don't know if my eyes were playing tricks on me since the size of a Lite is different from the size of a regular DS, but I'd swear that the screens are slightly larger on the Lite. Not much, but a little bit. I'm interested to see how bright the screen can be -- although I doubt I'd keep it on the brightest setting since it's sure to drain the battery faster (the manual claims 15-19 hours on the lowest setting and 5-8 hours on the brightest setting).
I had a moment on my way to Best Buy when I realized that I was going out to buy something on a "launch day." I've become everything I've always hated!!! My only saving grace is that I didn't go out and buy a new system, I just went out and bought a redesign on a system that I've used before and decided that I liked enough to buy....
Whatever helps me sleep at night, right?

WHAT!!!?? I'm going back to best buy and claiming my free game!
EDIT: the special is not listed in the ad, you have to ask the employees for a printout of said free game coupon.
Man I'm glad I bought the system when I did, when I went back, there were no more (and only 4 Brain Ages left)

Yeah, I'm not seeing any advertisment for it, but since everybody's been saying you can get Brain Age free with a DS Lite at Best Buy it must be true. I got mine elsewhere, since the discount I got is pretty much what I would've made if I had sold Brain Age (since I already have it).

The screen is the same size. However since the system area surrounding the screens is far less then the old fat DS it just seems to be bigger.
I have yet to play games on it (still charging), but I did run through the setup and it looked amazing. I was very hesitant to get the Lite (the GBA Micro looks better then it plays), but just after holding it and seeing the startup menu I'm already impressed. I bet I can play alot more Metroid Hunters with less left hand explosions now.

Well I held one of these things, not all that sure I really need the newer version. 130 bucks could buy alot of DS games and the future release scheduel has some promising titles(like Harvest Moon)
I think the Lite may just have bee made so the DS can match with the Wii to attain some uniformity, because astheticly it's VERY similar. I think the redone stylus may be the most practical of the redesign since it's a bit longer and wider enabling a bit more precision, as for the smaller size of the system and the brighter screens the practical uses of those could be argued since the original DS still works fine without.

I'll be getting one...sometime soon. I don't know if it's worth it to get the new system, but I'm trading in my Nintendo DS for 70 dollars, which is over half the price of the Lite (it is 130, right?). So I'm just paying 60 dollars. Not that bad of a deal, but...I suppose I'll find out. Unfortunately, there is NO place here that will sell you a DS Lite unless you've reserved. Oh well. I'll wait a few days, I suppose. By then I'll probably be able to purchase one. I'll get back to you when I get the system.

Just got mine. Feels sweet in my hands have it charging now. It was worth being a little late for work (still get paid anyway). I just couldn't wait till later. The wife is going to kill me but at least I got one.

Man, Brain Age keeps not being able to recognise when I say "blue" unless I over enunciate "Blll-ooo". And I've gotten some math problems wrong cuz of the game not recognising my handwriting (there have been times where it mistook a 4 for a 7 O_o )

Well, here's a couple of follow up comments now that I've played with the Lite a little.
On the pro side: The brighter settings are great. There are four different levels, and even at the second lowest there is a noticeable improvement over my brother old blue DS. True, the old DS's backlighting got the job done, but I always felt it was a little too dim when I played games on my brother's.
On the con side: I'm not sure I like the new placement of the start and select buttons. It seems I have to be careful not to hit the select button at the same time that I'm trying to hit the start button to pause Mario. They are very close together, and take a little pressure to push down. Considering that I have very small, thin fingers, I can only imagine how it would be for people with the old "sausage fingers" (as I've often heard them called).
Now I just need to decide on some more games to pick up in the near future...

Say Blu-E. I works like a charm.

No, there's no built in web browser. There's an Opera web browser add-on coming later.

I've had these troubles too. The color test is an odd one because I did the sample test several times with no problems, but then when I tried to do the real test to gauge my brain age it had the hardest time understanding blue. This happened sometimes with the other colors, but most often (by far) with blue. For the moment it's amusing, but if I can't figure out a way to make it understand me it will quickly irritate me. As it is, I have this stupid hesitation now after every "blue" as I wait to see if it will accept my answer.
I've had some trouble with it reading numbers, but I'm slowly working around those since it not only pays attention to how you write the number, but also where your stroke begins and ends. It often got hung up on my sevens when I wrote them starting at the bottom and ending at the top, but it seems to have no trouble at all if I start from the top and end at the bottom.
I guess I have to retrain myself on writing sevens now....
Anyway, my Brain Age isn't where I would like it to be, but I partially blame that on the game not understanding what I say. I'm sure it doesn't help your score when blue text pops up on the screen and your response consists of "blue....blue.......blue..........blue.............blue..........BLUE........BLUE........." :p

It takes a while to get used to but once you get used to how to input the numbers you will be good. Rignt now I have my Brain Age Working like a well oiled machine.

Got the DS Lite. It's totally worth it. The design is so much better and it just feels so much better to hold it. It's a lot brighter than the DS and the games really look better on this system. DS is now better than PSP :p

Got DS Lite two days ago because my original DS wasn't functioning right. So basiclly in other words. (I really have to stop dropping my portable consoles.) But anyway, it's much easier to play and there's less pressure on the hands and fingers. I used to get quick pain sores after playing "Castlevania" before... But that's in the past.
More DS playtime.:D

Had a dead pixel returned it back to ToyRus got a shiney new one with less fingerprints on it. Works for me. I finally got used to the start button. I kept thinking it was still on top lol.

About the mic. Do you have to be speaking directly into the mic, or can't you just speak commands with the unit at arms length? I don't like how the mic is located in the hinge of this new model.

Despite the fact that it can't understand the word "blue," the DS seems to have a very good microphone. It picks up my voice on Brain Age when I'm holding it at arm's length and talking fairly softly. You definitely don't need to hold it up to your mouth or anything.

Good. I wouldn't want to get any spit on the screens if I had a DS Lite.

Funny story. Here's how careful I was with the DS Lite.
I bought it around 8:07AM on Sunday (they had to get the case out). I go over to the Deli section (where I work now), and ask if I could grab a pair of gloves. They ask, "Why?"
I respond. "I need to put something on something, and I don't want fingerprints."
... "That sounds illegal."
So, after getting the gloves, I open up the DS Lite, and apply my screen protectors.

i realized the poor position of the mic today while playing mario kart battle mode against a friend. on my old ds, i blew into the mic to blow up the balloons, but i realized doing that on the lite would cause spit to get on the screen
i'll be using select from now on

Well, try swallowing before you blow, then maybe there won't be any flying particles of spit. :p
I got my Lite on Sunday as well, but I had to call up Nintendo for repair/replacement. Got two dead pixels (one on each screen) and GameCrazy wouldn't take it back. Needless to say, I'm not dealing with GameCrazy anymore.

I've held off of buying a DS because I knew Nintendo would do a redesign (thankfully, too, because the original DS's screen was pathetic, IMO)
Even so, I'm holding off picking up a DS Lite until they release it in black...I may just end up getting one of eBay.

Ah, I forgot about how you can blow into the mic too. You probably can't do that with the unit at arms length, can you? In this case, maybe I don't need a DS Lite.
