Since we have a "Best Cartoon Series" thread, how about we do one for "Worst Cartoon Series". What are your picks?

The example I used for the best cartoon series will work:

RUDE DOG
This white dog has attitude, a RUDE attitude. Rude Dog drives a car, picks up chicks, and hangs out with his posse. His show is the worst cartoon series ever!

Bloody hell, where do I start
Smurfs
Nuff Said

Rescue Heros
Cause it's taking up space on my faux toonami line-up!

Here is my list:
The Gary Coleman Show. As much as I liked the idea he was DEAD, seeing him fly around as an angel and that series was entirely too painful.

Gilligan's Planet. If only the Harlem Globetrotters had built a space ship also to add a touch of class to this show.

Mr T. This one lasted three seasons. THREE SEASONS. God, in heaven, what was going on in the 80's????

Rubik the Amazing Cube. I guess I can't get all negative about this one. It holds a place in history of being perhaps the only animated series based on a PUZZLE. Oh, yeah, whenever I was trying to get that friggin thing to have one side at least one color, I was thinking, Man I would love to see this toy come alive as a CARTOON!

David the Gnome. This list was supposed to be five when I started out then I remembered this one and had to extend it. A gnome named David voiced by Tom Bosley (Wait Til Your Father Gets Home fame, of course). What better combination could you ask for?

A Pup Named Scooby. As if Scrappy wasn't enough torment!

My Pet Monster. I have to pet your
WHAT?????

Super Globetrotters. The first series was so great, why not do a spin off? Surely, this will be just as good! I will just post the picture and let you make your own caption.

http://www.yesterdayland.com/images/popopedia/shows/saturday/sa1219.jpg

Blackstar. I hated this show as a kid but watched it every week. I was WEAK, I tell you, weak! This show ripped off every sci fi convention you could think of. Possibly the worst sci fi animated series ever.

Hulk Hogan's Rock and Roll Wrestling! All I can hope for now that current govenor of Minnesota Jesse Vetura gets his own animated series.

p.s.-some may recognize this post. This is what I posted for the Worst 10 Cartoons EVER thread, but I have had no reason to change this list.

Yeah. The smurfs were all justified. They're communists. Any cartoon about little communist elf/fairy things is cool by me.

Sabrina: TAS (the absolute nadir)
CatDog
Rocket Power

Yup. Hate the smurfs..

What;s more, I LIKE Pokemon, Digimon, and have heard good things about Gargoyles (though I haven't seen it)

In fact, I've been considering posting POkemon on the Best list, since it's helped bring Anime into the mainstream, not to mention launched an entire kids network empire...

Seriously....what reason, aside from "Goliath chronicles", do you have for hating Gargoyles? Yes, it's from Disney, but that can't possibly be the reason!

Ok, I can understand someone not like the shows animated style and you do have the right to "claim" Gargoyles as one of the worst shows ever. But many feel that the writing was on par with Batman: The Animated Series. Please tell me you don't hate BTAS. :(

That said I feel everyone should slam The Goliath Chronicles. :D

My own pick? How about The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo.

Many come to mind, but I nominate The Family Guy.

Hey! don't put down Family Guy! I love that show! It's way better than all the other crap i nominated.

JustJack
01-13-2002, 06:11 PM
Heh, sorry...but I will second that nomination for The Family Guy. Sorry..its just...aweful...just....so...bad.

in my opinion..of course..

The Mad Hatter
01-13-2002, 07:03 PM
Family Guy, indeed... of all the things they could plagarize, why didn't they plagarize the humor?

But I don't think that show's as bad as, say, the Gary Coleman show or Captain Planet...

Jimmy Kustes

Donkey Kong Country

Rareware hated this show.

Overkill of ASE
01-13-2002, 10:49 PM
Pac-Man
Mortal Kombat
The Harlem Globetrotters

And let's not forget Rocket Power.

Sailor Moon- It was so annoying!
Brats of the Lost Nebula- It got canceled after 1 episode. If that doesn't tell you anything, I don't know what will.

don Jaime
01-13-2002, 11:54 PM
Bad Dog is the sure win. Never have I seen a more abrasive toon. Not nominated, but should have been: What's With Andy?, Flint the Time Detective, Alvin and the Chipmunks.

Jowy Blight
01-13-2002, 11:59 PM
Any show on Nick except for Zim.

It's pretty much the only watchable show left on Nick.

Sango

Don Jaime, I'd forgotten about "Flint the Time Detective" until you mentioned it! That was one freaky show...I remember when I was home sick one day and just flipping through the channels I happened to leave it on for a few minutes. When I first saw that dude with the purple hair (I think his name is Merlock...) I thought, "What a strange looking girl..." Then it spoke and I found out it was a guy....

Let me think of some other shows I'd nominate...I also hate about every Nickelodeon show on now. I'm so sick of "Rugrats" I can't even stay in the same room as my sister when she watches them. Although I don't watch Disney's 1 Saturday Morning, I can tell from commercials that it's pretty bad. A Mary-Kate and Ashley animated series...*shudders at the thought*

It's late now and I can't think so if I think of more I'll post them later.

SilentBobWooHoo
01-14-2002, 10:25 AM
I'd have to say...

A PUP NAMED SCOOBY DOO: I think the old Scooby cartoons were ok...but this show was just a bad idea IMO.

SAILOR MOON: I haven't even been able to bring myself to sit through one episode of this crap...

and...THE HARLEM GLOBTROTTERS: Again, a horrible idea. The only thing worse then this show is when they teamed up with Scooby Doo....bleh.

Lachesis
01-14-2002, 12:56 PM
Brats was cancelled after four episodes. It outlasted Calamity Jane's three. Hee hee.

My vote goes to the New Kids on the Block cartoon. Yes, it did exist and yes, it was as bad as it sounds.

Danielle
01-14-2002, 06:11 PM
Waynehead and Butt-Ugly-Martians.

Jack
01-14-2002, 06:28 PM
Rocket Power! And really any Klasky-Skupo show, I can't stand any of them other than the early episodes of Rugrats.

I never cared for "Donald Duck's Quack Pack" (I think that was the name). If the only way to revive a classic cartoon star is to change the characters, then don't revive them. I much prefer Huey, Luey, and Dewey as children, and I couldn't stand the new Daisy Duck design.

Jack :D

The Mad Hatter

Ergh, I had managed to forget about BRATS. What a horrible, horrible idea...

Joe Tully
01-14-2002, 09:40 PM
I think this was in the Wizard one from a while back, but it's probably my favorite terrible cartoon...I can't believe I forgot it before.

"The shoes knew at once they had finally found their man
And soon he became known as...HAMMERMAN!"

M.C. Hammer fights crime with magical talking shoes. It's as good as it sounds.

Lizzie McGuire

Wait a minute, Lizzie McGuire is a cartoon!?!?

I know it's a live action show with little bits of an animated Lizzie on the Disney channel, but is there a completely animated Lizzie McGuire show?

mbaker
01-15-2002, 11:49 AM
No, it's not a cartoon, but there's an animated version of that Lizzie brat that looks so bad, she makes 90 percent of Hanna-Barbera's cartoons from the 70's look good. Heck, Sharron Spitz from BraceFace looks better than the animated Lizzie, and that's saying something! Hope i made myself clear.

Deltamon

Man, some of the ones you guys mentioned are good in their own right (Rupert and Little Bear come to mind...as for the latter, that's one of the three things on Nick I don't mind watching-the others are Franklin and Invader ZIM)

And a curse on the one who slammed David the Gnome!

But I digress. Now, for my nominations:

Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog DO NOT confuse this with the ABC Saturday Morning Sonic cartoon, which is up there in my 'Best cartoons' list. This, though...was a mockery of cartoons in general. I swear, I saw a scene that was A *TOTAL RIPOFF* of an older 1930's cartoon-I think a Betty Boop one, but to be honest I'm not 100% sure in this area.

TMNT By this I mean the last season that aired on CBS, not the whole show (which was godly in my youthful eyes) And CARTER...MUST...DIE.

Rocket Power 'Nuff said!

Bad Dog Bad indeed.

Megababies Not even Ren and Stimpy in their worst days have they've been this disgusting!

Weird-Ohs .Note to Mainframe-stick to action shows.

Mon Colle Knights I admit, I have a morbid liking for the show, mostly for the monster theme. But as an anime in general, this one's by far the weakest IMHO.

Flint the Time Detective Same as with Mon Colle Knights, especially in the morbid liking department. I've even done fanart! But I'm not stupid. Really.

The 12 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo What's worse than Scappy Doo? Scrappy Doo and FLIMFLAM! *grrrrrr*

Madeline Ok, it's not 100% bad, but I do have an inner hatred for this show since it replaced Sonic the Hedgehog's spot on ABC.

Free Willy See Madeline. On the plus side, the fact that it was somewhat a funny animal cartoon made me hate this show even less than Madeline-but not by much.

What-A-Mess Dirty dog. Dirty dirty dog.

...that 'bout it, I guess  :p :p

I actually liked the swamp thing, toxic crusader, and creepy crawlers cartoons in much the same way that I like old scifi B-movies like "attack of the giant leeches"...

I hated almost every character in creepy crawlers though, except that skeleton with the talking hat.

I like pokemon and digimon too...

Here's another bad one.

Gadget Boy! (Shudder) 'Nuff said.

I also have to agree with the person who brought up the Turtles. In the beginning, the series (though seperate from the Eastman & Laird comics) was awsome. It was hardcore, and action packed for it's day, plus it was alot of fun. Sadly the media watchdog groups demanded that they water down the show, and it became a shadow of it's former self. (The first movie was good, and had some elements from the first issue of the comics. ) things didn't get any better when the show moved to CBS either, and don't even get me started on "The Next Mutation". Pretty sad, huh?

The misadventures of a little yellow troll that wore blue shorts, made Jar-Jar Binks look like Lawrence Olivier, and had a bratty nephew--named Brattus, no less. Between each short a brief Claymation sequence of Bogus would air--that was maybe the high point of this monstrosity.

Evil Dr. Reef
01-15-2002, 04:50 PM
Let's see...Butt-Ugly Martians , Rocket Power , The Wild Thornberries .... Hell, everything on Nickelodeon sucks! With the exception of Invader Zim and the occasional Spongebob Squarepants . Oh yeah, and The Ripping Friends sucks too. Any show that relies on fart noises and excretions to be funny can cram it with walnuts.

The one who commented on the Turtles was me. Oh, good Lord, don't get ME started with the Live Action crapfest that aired on FOX Kids!

Here's another bad one.

Gadget Boy! (Shudder) 'Nuff said.

Oh, YESSSSSS. A hideous tribute to such a fine show (Inspector Gadget).

Ironically, it's STILL better than the Disney movie :p

Livewire: if you never have before,go to www.seanbaby.com and read his superfriends page. (Some of his other pages contain nudity, and theres a lot of cursing throughout, but the superfriends section is the funniest thing I have ever read in my entire life.Esspecially the page on the riddler)

mbaker
01-15-2002, 06:55 PM
Aw yeah! I love Seanbaby's Superfriends site! The character bios are hysterical, plus they got some funny comics that make fun of the Superfriends. And did anyone ever download that Budwiser parody where the're all saying "Whazaaaaaap"? God that was funny! I'll admit Superfriends can be crappy at times, but i think the show's last two seasons (Superfriends: The Legendary Superpowers Show, and Superpowers Team: Galactic Guardians) was definately the high point of the series. They were a little more faithful to the comics, and the stories were at their peak. But let's face it. Even with two improved sesons, Superfriend will never hold a candle to Justice Leauge.
