While browsing around YouTube for a while, I came across this clip. The most unpatriotic thing you could do with the US national anthem is have tons of non-Americans (and a few Americans) singing it, and guess who pulled it off (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBDi-hxwUNo&search=4kids)? That's right, 4Kids. This aired the weekend of July 4 last year. Wanna bet they'll try to put DoReMi and/or the Bratz in for this year's version?
(At least if they get the Bratz to sing it, they'll actually have more Americans than last year ;))

I would have no problem with it if the VA's could sing. God Luffy and Ussop somehow sounded even worse then normal.
Splinter was funny though.

We did a thread about this a long time ago. In the end we ranted about Japanese cartoons singing the American National Anthem and the horrible Photoshop/After Effects done at the end with them all together.
O'er the ramparts we watch'd

If they're living in America then they're Americans. He's talking about nationality, not ethnicity.

Ahaha, Splinter was the funniest. That alone made the clip worth watching. :D
Oh yeah I remember this being discussed a year ago and everyone was complaining about it and how except for TMNT none of them were American cartoons.

If anybody is wondering about what has happened to me since that incident, they've stopped the beating.
But the scars still hurt... Painfully... Tearfully...

Seeing Splinter sing a different song than "Skipping Stones" owned the video.
(Only a small percent of you will know what I meant by "Skipping Stones" ;) )

Easy! Replace the Mew Mew Power, Shaman King, and maybe the Usopp (please!) with Dorie, a Brat, and Commander Duke.
Edit: They could also replace Luffy with another witchling or Brat as One Piece is off 4Kids TV for good.

Man forget the insult to the National Anthem, this is an insult to those anime characters!
I meant in terms of the horrible singing of corse, nothing nationallity related.

First off, I remember hating this... although Splinter sounded pretty good.
But out of curiousity...how would you guys feel if 4Kids did their research and used characters from their stable of shows clearly established as Americans? Ok, that does include most of the TMNT cast... Chocolove from Shaman King... Bandit Keith, Rebecca and Pegasus from YGO. Think that's about it.
It's not so much that 4Kids relies heavily on foreign animation as much as it is that it's utter trash. The singing, the clip choices, the horrible photoshop... I mean, ugh.

Why are you so negative all the time?! Are you obsessed with 4Kids bashing? You're not even in the USA for crying out loud. At least 4KidsTV did something for the 4th of July to show some USA patriotism. What did KidsWB do? Nothing.
WOW. That's... er... embarrassingly bad to everyone involved. Yikes.

He's negative about this because it may be hilarious but it's still crap.

As far as kids are concerned, all the cartoons 4Kids make are American or take place in America.

And that's what 4Kids want them to think because they think kids can't handle the idea of 'foreign'.

They were trying to use characters that were actually on the block at the time, not characters from their properties on Kids WB.

It's not uncommon to bash a 4th of July celebration if it's done poorly. Remember the Roseanne Barr incident where she sang the 4th of July poorly and contemptously which aggravated the stadium crowd and even George Bush Sr.?
I also didn't like that video done by 4Kids. They should've done something more dedicated such as getting in a celebrity or two to sing the anthem rather than photoshopping the characters onto an American flag.

And what better way to show of patrotism than have a bunch of characters from Japan sing it!
But if they left out the anime characters, I wouldn't mind it, but they did, so tough.

Like it when Luffy and Usopp had their turns, and of course get the lyrics wrong. :D
While it seems corny and extremely out of place-- you need to remember this is something aimed at young kids.

If they did that, all that'd be left would be Winx and TMNT, and people are complaining about Winx being there as well!
(Though, I would love to see Shredder sing...)

Yet I remember the claymation commercial breaks from CBS saturday morings when they would sing. They never sounded terrible or made you feel stupid.
Oh and School House Rock. You can't beat that.

As I mentioned in the original topic, Sonic X takes place in an alternate dimention America, so there's no real reason to complain about them singing it. (and before anyone says it, they DID legally apply for citizenship)

But if they left out the anime characters, I wouldn't mind it, but they did, so tough. Why is it okay if the Winx Club girls sing this and not anime characters? They're not American either. Or is this just about people not wanting their favorite anime characters "ruined" by singing an American song for the kids?

Well, how would you feel if the Japanese used Peter Griffen, Bart Simpson, Hank Hill, and Eric Cartman to sing the Japanese national anthem?
While it seems corny and extremely out of place-- you need to remember this is something aimed at young kids.
But still, there are plenty of clever people who have over the years put a lot of effort into material for small children (CTW, Mr. Rogers, BBC). This is just so obviously slapped together, it's an insult to children's intelligence. Even if they had to do this, they could've made it so much better with just a few more hours of work.
I showed that video to my ten-year-old sister. She noticed EVERYTHING that's wrong with it. I didn't even hint her.

I don't really give a crap. They're cartoons. All I care about is the character's personality--- thats what entertains me. I don't care about little things like this--- I just care about seeing funny stuff. I'm not going to sit on here and brood about anime characters used in a holiday bumper on a kid's lineup. It's going to happen because theres a lot of worldwide cartoons in that lineup these days.
You can give them accordions, have em dance a polka, and I'll be as entertained as all heck.
i'll add that while it seems really dumb to have anime characters for a bumper like that--- I honestly doubt they do it with intent to anger people.
Cartman--- would probabaly be quite funny.

When 4Kids characters sing the US national anthem, it becomes one of the worse songs on Earth. Why can't 4Kids get Jessica Simpson and all those other celebrities to sing it instead? Then again, I hate America with a flaming passion, so I don't want to hear a song nor a speech about how America is a "great, precious and beatiful" country and crap like that as long as I live.

Well, how would you feel if the Japanese used Peter Griffen, Bart Simpson, Hank Hill, and Eric Cartman to sing the Japanese national anthem? Do they even have an anthem? Either way, that'd be awesome/hilarious. :p They already use Simpsons to sell lemonade like how Bart is the spokesman for Butterfinger here, so it's nothing too different
It's a dark time when people have to take cartoon characters so seriously like this and can't laugh at something simple made to celebrate a holiday.

Why would Jessica Simpson make a good celeb for that particular bumper?

Since 4Kids has a love for snobby valley girls who crave men and money, I was thinking that she and similar celebs would be better for that bumper, since they're singers.
Um, why?
What are trying to question from my post here?

How was I off-topic? I answered your reply to my last post and was wondering what Remnant was refering to when he/she replied to me with an "Um, why?".
How was I off-topic?
The discussion concerning the animated bumper started to turn into a political rant and I just wanna make sure the discussion stays towards the topic of the animated bumper-- and the characters/show clips used for this particular bumper.
Edit: I was watching it, and at the end--- did they just flip back and forth with the clips of characters mid-dialogue to get it synched up with the song?
That must have been fun, lol.
'What was your job?"
"Oh, I just made the little cartoons mouths line up with the music. Yep. A hard days work."
