Batgirl dominated the polls this week, so here *they* are by popular demand!

After a great deal of discussion amongst the crew, we're going to be moving John's DOW poll to the comics forum starting monday. We believe that there's so much traffic on this board that it's causing the poll to get a little lost amongst all other posts. And because there's three posts (Old poll, Drawing, New poll) up at any given time.
I'll post an announcement across all the boards to let everyone know when it's up. Look for it on Monday! Keep sending in those poll suggestions. I am receiving and reading all of them! =)

Hey naraht
Busted!!! I saw Batgirl was burning up the poll on Thurs. and knew I wanted to draw both girls so yeah I did it early and hoped for the best.
By the way thanks so much to everyone and all their compliments it's really nice of you all. I gotta tell ya I never realized how much fun this would be, I really enjoy checking the poll each day to see who's going to come out on top.
Kudos to the kats at ToonZone for putting this together
Cheers

Next Week's poll should be more interesting. I think the choices are gonna be completely different than this week's. An dit was easy to tell you'd be the easy victor. Within hours, Batgirl had 17 votes before any other choices had a single one. I'm anxious to see the diverse poll for next week...
And this pol cintinues to amaze me. John, you continue to outdo yourself and I find myself with a new appreciation for your art. I'm likign this - and I'm glad you are as well.

Two bats for the price of one!
So say what happened if there was an upset and Batgirl lost on Friday? Would we have had two sketches in one week?
Great job Mr. Delaney! Both look great, but I particularly like the second Batgirl.
So, the new poll starts Monday on the Comics Board, I'll be there! :)

Yup - but we'll still be linking to the poll through this board, just like how we do it in the Justice League forum. For those who've never been, here's the link:

I'm looking forward to new poll myself and c'mon people let's throw out some unusual choices, I love the DC Universe it's so filled withg great characters like Captain Marvel(the first one!) or the Blue Beetle or the Question (het did I mention the Question?) or Steel or Catwoman (maybe in her new gear) or Powergirl ( I always like drawing her!)
Looking forward to thisweeks poll

No I hear ya, I was just kidding. :D With two characters covered in that much black, I just didn't think it would read as well just in pencil so out came the brush! I can't guarentee that every one of these will recieve the full ink treatment, just depends on the character and my schedule but I'm really enjoying doing them so who knows?

Hey John, how long does a drawing like that take you? And could you break it down by pencils and inks, too? I'm just wondering from an amateur artist's point of view. Thanks!

Hey Domino
I usually sketch out a couple of poses, really rough and loose to get a dynamic line of action. I do that pretty quick maybe 15 - 20 minutes. Once I have a pose I like, I sometimes xerox the loose drawing up to the size I want to draw at and put it on my light table to act as a skeleton of the pencil pose, which I tighten. The pencil drawing usually takes about 20 - 30 minutes for a 2 character no background. The inking takes abit longer because I don't do it near enough compared to pencilling but I think I inked it in about 45 minutes.
These are all aproximates because I often sit on the drawing for a day then look at it and add or subtract bits.
From my experience every artist moves at a different speed and sometimes we spend too much time on a drawing or sometimes too little, Personally I just try to draw it at the speed I'm comfortable while trying to keep it loose and vital.
Cheers
John

Great job on the colors. I really liked the red B.G. fading to black .The deep purple on Cassandra's costume was areally cool mix with the crome orange belt and bat insignia.
Very Nice!

:) WOW John! Great work...we're all really impressed as I am sure you can tell!
And this two-for-one deal is really above and beyond the call of duty...you're a great guy!
I noticed that the animated Batgirl is in her ...um..what's it called...you know, the main pose that Timm makes for the other animators to follow? Model sheet pose? Is that it? N-E-Ways, have you ever drawn Batgirl before? I don't recall her showing up in Adventures in the Dc U...
In any case, those two gals look awesome! PLEASE GO WORK AT BATMAN: GOTHAM ADVENTURES :) :)

Hey DB
Batgirl is in a similar pose but her model sheet pose has one arm hanging down and I put a bit more tilt into her hips and head, but I was definately paying close attention to the model sheet. Also I gave her the "shiny" Justice League look to her uniform instead of straight black like in Gotham Adventures. Yep this was the first time I'd drawn Babs as Batgirl and the first time I'd drawn Cassandra in the animated style
Glad you liked it!

Okay, nice. Very nice.
But the one on the left is the only real Batgirl in the shot. ;)

I didn't know that. Like I figured it would make him mad. He would be like, "Umm don't do that again." Being a pro and stuff. Is there a week 3 poll btw? I only look at this section.

I never said I was any good. ;) Like there are some Ivy's I did in the drawing section. You would have to go back to like 20 days or so and it would still be on page 1 though.

Yum. I had to clean the slobber off my keyboard before I could type in a coherent reply.
Actually, it's not going to be all that coherent anyway. I look at the "sketch" and break out into one of Homer's "schoolgirl giggles" teeheeheeheeheehee!
Thanks, John! :D
