Well that one looks good, but then there's this:

I'm already missing the longer ears from JL. :(
And there's also one with Batman smiling at Static. (http://www.***************.com/stories/0201/12/static2.jpg) :yakko:

I wonder why Bruce Timm and co didn't go with this Joker design when they launched TNBA (or used it originally for BTAS). It just looks so awesome, and is so much better looking then the one they used for TNBA.
It's so evil looking.
Too bad I won't get to see this Static Shock episode due to no longer having WB on my TV.

Because he hadn't come up with that Joker design until they started working on RotJ.

Even though I didn't like the BTNA Joker redesign AT ALL, I still think it's good that Timm & Co. didn't pass up the chance to experiment with their animation style.

They look a little bright, but otherwise they look good, although suddenly I like Batman's long JL ears. Is it me or do Batman & Robin look more cartoony compared to Static?

They look fine, except Batman looks a little weird. Its not the exact TNBA design I know that for sure. I think they made his head too SQUAREish opposed to rectangularish and his eyes are small, also his ears aren't right. Also the batsymbol on his chest is a little deformed. But the Joker is looking good, yea that was a lot of nitpicking right there :p

I have a hard time remembering Batman smiling in the animated series. The only time I can think of is at the end of Joker’s Favor. Anyone else think of a time he smiled? I’m sure there has to be at least one other time, and I mean Batman, not Bruce Wayne.

Exactly what I was thinking. If he's gonna smile, I hope he does that creepy laugh too.

I think there were two or three other times that Batman smiled, but they were the kind of smile that made the viewer very glad they weren't the object of Batman's attention at that moment. However that smile is just so 60's. Ugh. :(
One other thing I'd like to know is why the Joker get his RotJ/JL design but Batman gets his TNBA design. Right now I'm really starting to love the JL design and when you compare it to how he's going to appear in the Static Shock ep, it's just so bland.
I did see a commercial for it this morning and noticed a picture of Harley on the Joker's desk. :bosko:

I still favor the REAL TNBA design, not that static shock ver(ok so its not that diff but you can tell....) Also, I think Bruce Timm said that would be the permanent design for Batman(as in not BTAS style) in the WF's interview(I may be mistaken, but its somewhere)

lol, that'd probably make static shock want to never leave his bedroom again :)

To be fair, we don't really know the context in which Bats is smiling... he could have made some wonderfully in-character crack on par with the "Puddin!" "At this point, he probably is." exchange on World's Finest.
Then again, that toothy grin does make my inner fan-boy cringe a bit...

*sigh* It's a freeze frame...heck, it's so out of context...we won't know for sure...

It just doesn't look natural. I still say Superman got a hold of the mask again. *sigh*

" Holy bad charecterization, Batman."
Actually, If I'm remembering right, didn't he sort of smile at superman in the World's Finest episode? Toward the end, when Superman rips that huge door open, and Batman says "You're learning." ? Sort of a half smile, that's the only kind I can recall him wearing in the suit.
Oh, and waaaay back in On Leather Wings he smiles at Alfred when he says "I only toss butlers, Alfred."
(of course I'm being a horrible fanboy here, but oh, well....)

Bruce smiled during MOTP. Now even though he was out of coustume, he was still working on the case.
"I found traces of a chemical on a piece of glass on Chuckie Sol's car. A daptagentive of course."-Bruce
"Ahem.. of course..."-Alfred
Bruce then smiles.

Batman smiles, but it is always an ironic smile, usually at someone's expense. It's an "evil grin." This looks like he's about to call Static "old chum" and clap him on the back.

from the looks of it, the drawings for batman and robin, they look very similar to TNBA. is SS using the same animation studio or does professional animators really know how to draw like other people?

Robin's head is a diffrent size in just about EVERY pic (his nose, too). I like the fact that he looks older (kina neat). The Batman design looks alright. The smiling thing bugs me.... This had better be on a MUCH higher leval then the Batman guest star ep of Zeta. (the worst Zeta ep, imho.)
OH!, and the Joker looks friggin' awesome!! :)
