With Directors like Brett Ratner, Alexandre Aja, and Len Wiseman being interested and Hugh Jackman pretty much confirming that it would be one of the next movies he does. Who would you like to see in this movie and what story should it be based on?
My Story:
Based Heavily On Frank Millar's Wolverine Series. Logan finds his way to Japan, falls in love with a simple Japanese woman but loses her when she is killed by Lord Shingen and his warriors. Logan goes on a quest for revenge to avenge his lost love.

I would rather see Wepon World\Plus saga.. With characters such as Sabertooth, Silverfox, Maverick and Deadpool as Wepon World subjects.
And maybe his visits to Madripoor and Japan can be its sequal.

Personally I could do without the Wolverine vs a bunch of samuri warriors storyline.

Personally I'd rather see them allocate their funds into letting Bryan Singer make HIS version of X3.

Comparing Ratner to Singer, Singer was to constained and was too safe with his movies. Singer made a Danger Room set, for X2 X-Men United, a huge set, spent a lof of his budget money on it, and didn't use it. Ratnet not only used it, he also included the Fastball Special and a Sentinel. Ratner went all out fo satisfy the fans of the movie. "Im The Juggernaut B*tch" and so forth, Singer would not have done that. He was much more safe with the movies. He only intoduced one new characted to X2 (Nightcrawler), Colossus was there for like 30sec, he could have been longer, Shadowcat was there, she could have had a larger role. Jubilee could have had a bigger role in the museum, Syrin was included, but had 10sec of screen time. All those characters could have had larger roles. Gambit would have been been in X2. Ratner took over the damaged franchise left by Singer and made something great out of it.

I see someone's been reading Stan Lee's book on the wonders of hyperbole. Anyway I didn't have a problem( not major ones ) with any of the directors. Im not sure what kind of Wolverine story I'd like to see, i guess Weapon X is always a safe bet, but if it fits in the movie continuity I don't really see the point as in X2 he made a choicce to forget his past.

Well, assuming you don't care for competent writing and direction.
Back on topic, I find the whole "Wolverine" concept interesting because he was already the central character in all three X-Men movies. I wouldn't be surprised if the film ended up essentially being X4.

I do care for both. Zak Penn was the writer, and he is one of the best, he also did X2. As for directing, Ratner is very good at what he does.
Hugh Jackman has already pretty much confirmed that Wolverine will be a prequel. I believe they've mentioned bringing back Lady Deathstrike and Sabertooth too.
Anna Paquin also signed up for the movie too. Which confuses me, but eh. Wolverine is Wolverine, so see it I shall.

Speaking as someone who has studied film and filmmaking extensively, both the writing and direction are mediocre at best.
Don't get me wrong, I found the film to be very fun despite these things, but, from a technical standpoint, it's not good.

While we can like and dislike a movie, we have absolutely no real experiance to judge their work on proffesional level.

Wolverine had no idea who lady Deathstrike was in X2 and didnt seem to know Sabertooth in X1 now they are going to be in the prequel?

Wow. That's one of the most ridiculous things I've ever had the displeasure of reading. I don't even know where to start.
Experience in actual production has nothing to do with being able to recognize well-made film. It's a craft, and quality is subjective, but there are standards by which it can be judged. Incompetencies in writing and direction should be recognizable by even the most pedestrian mind: Plot and logic holes, contrivances and lack of creative diction in dialogue, complete failure at subtlety, pacing/continuity problems, etc.
It's okay to enjoy a movie despite these things (there's a hell of a lot to like in X-Men 3, IMO), but saying a person has no right to point them out is flabbergasting.
I paid $10 to see the movie. I paid another $8 to see it a second time. I paid thousands of dollars to go through film study and filmmaking courses in college. Not only that, but I live in a country where the right to free speech is a fundamental cornerstone of society. You're telling me I don't have a right to say that a couple of mediocre filmmakers who don't really deserve their jobs didn't do wonderfully with the technical aspects of X-Men 3?

Actually I think you don't need to be on a professional level when I say that Plan 9 From Outer Space or Robot Monster sucked on all levels.

I heard somewhere that this'll be a prequel based on the Weapon X comics. I hope it is because it sounds like it could possibly be really cool (I think the story is interesting). I find where I found this out I'll post it.

I hate that they killed off Sabretooth because I would have liked to have seem more of the Wolverine / Sabretooth rivalry in a Wolverine movie.

Chalk me as another one for not seeing the difference in a Wolverine movie from the X-Men movies, him being the star already and all.
If you can't criticize a movie without working in production and stuff...then you ALSO can't say a movie is good either. Criticism isn't inherently positive or negative.

A Weapon X movie would be awesome too. Bringing in Sabretooh, Lady Deathstrike, Silver Fox, and Maverick. My cast for that would be

They actually brought him back in one of the X2 movie tie-in comics, which are supposed to be official continuity, so you never know.

I always thought the best time for a Wolverine movie would have been the time between X1 and X2 where he went to Canada. Him not recognizing Sabretooth or Deathstrike could have been due to the amnesia. Sabretooth then showing up in the Wolverine movie and dying, thus explaining his absence in X2.
A WeaponX prequel would work. Have Captain Canada in it? Or maybe Logan's time in WW II with Captain America? I didnt see X3 yet, so I dont know if this happens, but have Magneto pull out his adementium there...making it as if he dies in the X-Men franchise, but in the Wolverine movie explain how he still lives because of the healing factor.
Wolverine vs Hulk vs Spiderman movie would be hot too.

It would take more than being optic blasted out of the Staute of Liberty and into a boat to kill Sabretooth. He always comes back for more! :D

just kidding
I highly doubt they'd bring back Lady Deathstrike in a prequel (continuity issues) They'll likely delve into Weapon X, Sabertooth, and Logan's past dealings w/ William Stryker. I just hope they don't pull an "Elektra" on us.
