DANG!!!!!!!
Hope they get the same voice actors. A few of them have been known to jump ship to Funi every so often.

Well, this holds true to what ADV has been doing recently...absolutely nothing.

More often by the week. It's not a problem (at least not a big one). ;)
I'll miss Don Rush. He's been one of ADV's most consistently good directors for the past few years.

Sweet.

I haven't seen Chris Patton, Hillary Haag or Alisson Keith outside a ADV dub, so here hoping they say yes if Funi asks. Monica, Luci and Vic are no brainers

I haven't seen Chris Patton, Hillary Haag or Alisson Keith outside a ADV dub, Chris is in Fullmetal Alchemist, Galaxy Railways and one or more of the new Gonzo titles.
As for Hillary and Allison, there's a first time for everything. ;)

crap, missed him. My mistake :p
That leaves Tessa and Melissa for the main players.

I forgot that Allison's worked in Los Angeles before (.hack//Legend of the Twilight), so she's not Houston-bound except by choice.

While I do find the news of the license suprising, I don't think we have anything to worry about dub-wise. ADV and FUNimation have collaborated before with Gunslinger Girl and I'm sure they'll collaborate again with Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid.
Hmm...this means that the future license for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya could go to either FUNimation or ADV.

Oh, this is such excellent news for me. I would have purchased the title from ADV, but now I gets me ANB-approved subtitles. Pardon me while I go off to do the Snoopy dance. :anime:
It doesn't mention if they scored the FMP:TSR OAV (Wari to Hima na Sentaichou no Ichinichi) or not, but I hope they got that too.

Is it me or does Funi get 80% of what's really good nowadays?

Is it me or does Funi get 80% of what's really good nowadays? Nope, not just you; I agree. 2006 is looking really really bright for FUNi, in comparison to ADV which hasn't really bought any high-profile series and seems more intent on re-releasing all their old stuff. This, coming from a guy who used to think ADV was the best U.S. licensing company.
ANYWAYS...... great news on FUNi grabbing the rights. I've only seen one episode of TSR but it looks to be a big step above the already well-done original series, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it all.
(p.s.: Look for the news on the TZ front page shortly...)

Chris is in Fullmetal Alchemist, Galaxy Railways and one or more of the new Gonzo titles.
As for Hillary and Allison, there's a first time for everything. ;) On Chris: don't forget Kodocha as well. As for Hilary, it's possible that she may end up making her Funi debut on the Negima dub (remember, there's at least 31 female characters in that show).
Hmm...this means that the future license for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya could go to either FUNimation or ADV. Considering what Funi has plans to do with Negima and the upcoming Gonzo releases, I really want them to license Haruhi, along with School Rumble (same publishing company behind some of Funi's more recent announcements) and Pani Poni Dash (the show's done by the same people behind Tsukoyomi ~Moon Phase~ and the upcoming second series of Negima).

I think there's a possibility of more to come from the Kadokawa-FUNimation agreement. Gen mentioned this in the press release:
"These are the first steps in a mutually beneficial relationship and releasing Full Metal Panic: The Second Raid, with its high quality production values and established fanbase, is a great way to start."
Then I saw this in my e-mail:
http://www.animaxis.com/en/zine/newsletter/view.asp?id=N001591
(http://www.animaxis.com/en/zine/newsletter/view.asp?id=N001591)
Kadokawa Creates Anime Fund
Publisher Kadokawa Shoten has recently established a 2 billion yen anime fund.
According to the May 22 Nihon Keizai Shimbun, the investment fund is to be used to finance the animation of a total of 35 TV and feature film anime productions over the next five years. Apart from Kadokawa Shoten, a number of financial institutions including the Development Bank of Japan have invested in the fund. Anime funds are often created to finance the production of a single project, but establishing a fund to be used in the development of 35 is a rare occurrence.
Of course, I might be jumping to conclusions. :)

No, .hack//Legend of the twilight was recorded in both Texas and California. PCB Productions (http://www.crystalacids.com/database/company/95/pcb-productions/) uses talent from both areas, though Allison was the only one recorded in Texas for this particular title.

Well, "stole" is a bit harsh, I think outbid is more honest.
Meanwhile, I think ADV's lack of new title-age is a result of a double-bind situation. Part of it is that with money tight while they collect cash for Eva LA, they can't afford to spend past a certain on a series unless they co-pro'd it. Meanwhile, they have a backlog that has titles that they announced that dates all the way back at AX 2004, some of which they've only recently put out on DVD, so they have to be a bit more picky about what they pick up in the way of new stuff if they ever want to get themselves down to Geneon/Funimation turn around times of under a year (which they likely want to do because it helps keep the initial heat surrounding the property up.)
Basically, between necessary self-restaint and back-logs, ADV can't pick up stuff with the same frequency as they used to. It'd be bad business in the long term.

I wouldn't have expected this but no worries they should be able to get the main players back if not everyone.
Chris and Greg are all over FUNi dubs lately. Hillary is in Samurai 7 at least and Luci is in FMA and Negima (maybe others). Vic is pretty much just FUNi these days I think just a few roles with ADV lately if any. Monica is also in many FUNi dubs lately. I think Allison is the only one that hasn't yet but she may have or probably will be in Negima.

Hmm - most of the dub forums are saying Hillary Haag hasn't done any Funimation shows yet, so are you sure it's her? As for Vic, he's still doing ADV titles (he's in Dimond Daydreams and the Moby Dick show, to name two) but I think he's not been doing as much VA work across the board of late compared to what he was doing last year (seeing his primary job is as a music producer, my guess is he's been busying doing that lately over VA work).
As for Allison, someone at AoD's English Track forum mentioned they thought she was living in L.A. now. If that's the case then I'm not sure if she'll be returning to work on the show or not.

While I'm not a dub fan, considering that FUNimation went the extra mile to secure all but one of the TM!R cast, I think they'll go that same length to secure the same dub cast for TSR.

Fantastic. Then it doesn't matter who puts it out. It's not another Saiyuki, it's just like ADV still has it but FUNi has it instead.
Yes that's Hillary in Samurai 7.

Yes that's Hillary in Samurai 7.
Could you elaborate on this some more? Episode, character, etc?
CrystalAcids is less than useful regarding this show, and ANN is down.

Sketch, according to Geoduck at Anime On DVD's English Track forums, that isn't Haag but Luci Christian. The thread for this is here (http://forums.animeondvd.com/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=1351468&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=&fpart=all&vc=1) , so why don't you come over and join in the discussion and lets find out for sure if that is Haag you're hearing or not :)
PS: If the link doesn't work it may be because you have to be a forum member to access it (it's a quirk of AoD's Forum set up). However, joining AoD is worth it even if you never post (some of those "member only" forms are quite interesting :anime:)

Indeed. 99% chance the whole cast will make the trip up to Ft. Worth.
Funi didn't steal anything. ADV didn't want to agree to the terms that Kadokawa wanted to set and Funi did. Kadowkawa sees this as their own "in" to the US market, and they're goign to be hamdlign alot more stuff that the standard deal for one of hrese shows.
ADV has been quest for a reason, and it;s not Eva LA. They'll be anouncing more stuff leading up to AX.

Well, at least despite the change in company, it'd just be like ADV still had the license, except it was distributed by a different company, especially with the announcement that the ADV cast is returning.
Regardless, cool beans. I <3 the Second Raid.
