View Full Version : Lose the Lemon? Keep the Apple?

You know, recently in bags of Starburst and Skittles and Sweettarts, they have replaced the lemon and lime flavors with a horrible SOUR APPLE flavor. This has got to be the nastiest development for the candy industry ever, on par with the "New Coke" fiasco some years ago. Is anybody seriously voting to keep the sour apple? I have a bag of Starbursts and I am throwing the apple ones away, but I miss my lemon flavor!

Seriously, I can't stand Lemon anything...the apple starbursts are ok, and well liked by my co-workers.

I haven't been able to get my hands on one of those bags. I personally prefer apple flavor over lemon, but I wanna try these out to see if the apple flavor agrees with me.

the apple isnt that bad, but i was under the impression it was a temporary thing. i do like the lemon sweettarts better, but the apple skittles arent bad.
BUT the worst development in the candy world isnt this, its the horrible rasberry/green apple color changing fun dip. I HATE THAT FLAVOR!!!! why do they have it, it tastes like crap. i mean i love the cherry and grape but that just reuins it all, i usually never even eat it, and if i do i only eat like a few dips before i feel like sick. whats with that? what was their old flavor, i think it was straight green apple, but i cant really remember. anyway, who agrees?

::drooling:: Those apple Skittles are the best! I got a bag of just Apple Skittles from a friend since the drug store she worked at had them for next to nothing... I'd keep 'em, but it doesn't look like it'll happen...

The sour apple candy would be better served in a bag with other "alternative" flavors. I just want to keep the classic flavors together. I like to mix the flavors, and that sour green apple flavor doesn't blend well with anything else in the bag.

I tried some of those Starbursts over the summer. I have to say, I really prefer the lemon. After a while the apple grew on me a little, but still, in comparison, I much prefer lemon.
I also mentioned this back during Halloween time, but one of my co-worker's friends mailed all of her apple Starbursts back to the company with a note indicating her dissatisfaction.
When I voted over the summer, lemon seemed to be in the lead. Isn't this thing over yet?

Lemon all the way! The first time I tried that apple thing, it was like YUCK! I've tried it at other times, but still, I'm not fond of it whatsoever. That needs to be in some other version of Skittles or Starbursts, not with the original flavours.

That's kinda funny, cuz I know somebody at work who did the same thing, and in fact, I was contemplating doing the same with mine.
As for are they done with it? Well, maybe the stores just have some left over packages and I was one of the lucky few to get a bag. But I still see the Sweettarts on the shelf with sour apple (and I really liked the lime Sweettarts) but the candy where I work part time has returned to normal, at least.
