Toad Patrol is a TV program which first aired in 2002 on Teletoon and Toon Disney. It was created and directed by George Sarson. Although it is primarilly aimed at young children, it has found popularity with young to mid teens because despite the fairly young and lighthearted appearance of the show, it had some rather dark undertones beneath the surface. Its cult appreaciation has also stemmed from the fact it is also one of the few American animated series' made in the 21st century to have featured an ongoing storyline with a distinct beginning and end. Usually a quality of anime, even before the turn of the century it was still very rare for an animated series in America to follow this format. A show sponsor page has stated that 13 episodes of the series are currently in production. However, with the recent passing of Long John Baldry, the voice of Mistle Toad, it is unknown if these episodes (assuming they really exist) will air.
I'm really hoping that there's some Toad Patrol fans here. It used to be one of my favorite shows, but since it was taken off the air, I've forgotten a lot about it. For some reason, I suddenly became interested in the show again. Rumors about the third season are still roaming the internet. Do you think the third season's doomed or do you think it will be back on Toon Disney/TeleToon?

I didn't care for this show much. When I first heard of this show, I thought it was gonna be some Frog cop show like "Fish Police" or something.

Never seen it, but I might check it out.

Count me in as another fan of the series. I really enjoyed the characters and plot continuity of the series. I do wish the patrol had been aged for the second series, which would have enhanced the continuity.
This is the first I've heard of a season three. I assume if there was such a thing it would have come out by now, it wouldn't be that hard to recast Mistle Toad (of course, whether or not we would be happy with the new voice is something else ...).
So far I've picked up two of the dvds and will probably pick up more although I'm unhappy that the openings and endings of most of the episodes were omitted.

Yeah, I really hope we'll all see it back on television someday.

Yeah. Just like The Secret of NIMH.

I remember seeing the last time I saw this. ABOUT five years ago or something. Why was it canceled?
May I remind you guys that any kind of discussion whatsoever that falls into illegal sharing of copyrighted programs is not allowed.
You can discuss the show, but I do not want to see ANYTHING involving illegal sharing of shows.

I remember this show when it was on Toon Dis. I only saw a few episodes but it was an okay show, had that grand adventure/epic quest feel to it. I didn't know it had an ending.
Like you said very few US shows have endings(well intentional ones anyway:rolleyes: ). Mighty Max and Conan the Adventurer are the only one's at the moment to come to mind that actually had "ending" endings.

Who said it was canceled? Rumors say it's still in production... Going for it's third season which will conclude their epic journey. The passing of Long John Baldry may have them stop the production of season three.

I'm another fan. The show was quirky, funny and interesting, but it sure had a lot of spiritual stuff. Yes, there is a season 3 in which the Toads manage to find the Fairy Ring and end up living in Toad Hollow, but when Mistletoad becomes encased in a layer of ice, they get a distress call and have to leave Toad Hollow in order to save him. After meeting an overprotective beaver who thinks the toads are thieves and eventually rescue Mistletoad after threatening to steal the beaver's belongings, they find out how to turn all the toadstools back into toads. Apparently, they are to play a song that the ancients played many years ago, but sadly, when they play it, it almost works, but fails. How come? :Slaps head: of course, they only have ONE instrument! They have to go out and find 3 natural items that pass off as a flute, a harp and a drum. They do so as that fat guy (Can't remember his name) uses the thunder tree hammer to beat the notes using icicles. In the end, they play the song and end up saving all the toads and Mistletoad brings them all to Toad Hollow. Sad moment in the season... that guitar player who always hit on Beauty Stem is turned into a toadstool while fighting off a giant rat. Good news: He changes back with all the rest.

I accidentally tuned in, when I was in CA visiting a friend in 2004 -- we watched a bit. After that, I kept tuning in until it was taken off of TD. It was pretty interesting -- the episodes had nice storytelling, and the music was surprisingly good. It's unfortunate that this series isn't airing in the US anymore, because I never got to finish watching the second season.

That was the second season. The third season is not supposed to have aired anywhere and that storyline already did.

Really? It was so convincing that I thought that was the end of the series.

From what I've heard, the cartoon based on Jumanji had an ending.
(Meanwhile, glares at Exosquad and Saturday morning Sonic, both of which ended their story arcs in their 2nd seasons' finales... and then laid the foundation for a new arc as a cliffie, and then got canned. Also glares at CN for not letting Samurai Jack join that short list of shows.)

Mighty Max's ending SUCKED though...such a flippin' cop-out -.-
If you want a nice North-American ending seek out CINAR's Patrol 03. It had an actual ending with the villains defeated! A nice 13 episode (I believe) serie.
