View Full Version : Problem with 'Mask Of The Phantasm'...

I recently found and rented a copy of this film (which i've been meaning to do for the last 5 years!) and still love it to bits. Though I do have one question:

In the climax, Phantasm (aka Andrea) takes Joker with her to wherever leaving Batman in the inferno of the World's Fair, and we are all left to assume that she has killed him, or will kill him. This doesn't seem to be resolved in the movie, although of course we know he WASN'T killed.
Why is this so?
I mean, she killed every other dude who was in Valestra's mob, why spare Joker? Did Batman's final words regarding 'vengeance' change her mind or sumthing?

And where does MOTP fit in the continuum?

I don't wanna come off sounding too harsh or anything, but it's been buggin me for weeks.

Well she didn't kill Valestra, Joker beat her to that one. I also have wondered why she didn't snuff joker & I just assume that somehow during all the explosions going on around them they got seperated by a blast that knocked them off their feet & he took off like a BAT(pun intended}outta hell & she lost him. Sounds good? ;)

good enuff :)

but still, she had him beat. Joker was bleeding and basically defeated, and she still looked pissed. one would think killing him would be the next step.

oh, and anutha question. how was she able to diappear with the use of smoke? is this explained in the novelisation cos it's kinda cheesy in the movie?

i dunno. now i'm just nitpicking. great movie though.

In one of the Batman comics, this (http://www.toonzone.net/comics/covers/br/bran01.jpg) one to be specific, that Joker question is sorta answered....here is a scan of the page w/ Joker and Andrea..but it's on Geocities, so you'll have to open a new window, and copy the link into it..:

Yeah, the Batman & Robin Adventures Annual #1 tells the story and does a fantastic job at it. It's also got I guess the last artwork of Mike Parobeck in it. It's a good read if you can find it, good luck...

I think he means that if you open a new blank window, then copy and paste the URLs into the window, then they will load just fine. Worked for me. Oh wow these pages are so great, I'm just going to read them again and again and again! Then I'll leave the windows open and just let them sit there.

Okay, time for me to go into tech support mode.

Select the link you want from Bird_Boy's post; highlight it so the letters are now blue and the fill behind it is white. Hit "Ctrl+C." That puts it on the "clipboard, or a temporary storage location.

Open a new navigator window (File menu, new... window). Hit "Shift+Insert" in the location bar. That should paste it there, and then just hit enter.

If you are completely lost, austin, just type in the address manually in the the location bar.

Any questions?

Gosh you're very generous :) ... I mean, answering a question that's so politely asked? Is it me or is austin a bit... "blunt"? (I'm being nice as well)

Hey, Sal, that's me on a bad day...which happens every other day, so I sympathize with the kid. (No offense intended, austin). I don't like to beat around the bush usually. I'm pretty blunt myself.

Well, it ANSWERS, but it feels a bit contrived to me. I expected something a a bit more emotional and realistic...
