Does anyone read the Marvel Adventures comic line? There have been series like Marvel Adventures Spider-Man, Marvel Adventures Fantastic Four and now Marvel Adventures The Avengers. To those who have read these comics do you think there is potential for animated series from these all ages books?

Of course, these books are awesome and still they are aimed for families so it will be no problem. There should be more Marvel Adventures titles like X-Men or Hulk. I would love to see MA Avengers ( http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a270/Shantosh9500/MAAvengers.jpg )get animated. They have the best Avengers line-up ever.

Marvel Adventures is more aimed for younger audience and more classic than the regular universe.

Why is Giant Man a girl?

I've never read these books before, but am I right in assuming they are books in a new continuity aimed at younger readers? It'll be interesting to see if we get a similar themed book spun off from the new Fantastic Four animated series when it airs in the fall.

Its actually Wasp who apparently adopted her husband's powers and his identity of Giant Man and change it into Giant-Girl and yeah i was surprised too that they made Janet a female version of Giant-Man. And you are right Marvel Adventures are aimed for a younger audience.

Who is third from the left?

That would be The Wasp (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wasp_%28comics%29).

To answer the original question, I think that the Marvel Adventures books would be easy to adapt for a series aimed at a younger audience. I've read a couple of the titles, and they are a bit more juvenile than the other Marvel titles. I wouldn't want to see a animated series for teens and older using Marvel Adventures as source material.

There actually is a Marvel Adventures Fantastic Four and Marvel Adventures Spider-Man and they aren't bad books. They've had contributions from the likes of Peter David and have had some amazing artwork. They're very old-fashioned and kid-friendly books. That doesn't mean they are all dumbed down or simple but they are fun and free from the constraints of comic continuity. I recommend picking up some of the digests for them some time. I think these books would translate very easily into new animated series.

Something like Marvel Adventures The Avengers is something I would love to see animated. The first issue of the comic may not have been the best but the possibilities from the line-up is quite limitless!

With the news that infamous "Black Costume" will be appearing in Marvel Adventures Spider-Man in time for Spider-Man 3 (click here (http://forum.newsarama.com/showthread.php?t=89691)), I thought now would be a good time to bump this thread back up. With a very The Batman Adventures way of reintroducing classic Marvel stories to a new generation, could Marvel Adventures prove to be blue-print for future Marvel cartoons?

I just looked at the Amazon listing for these books and they're only 7 bucks for the TPBs! I'm going to buy one of each I think.

Be aware that these are all digest sized, not full-size TPBs, which is why they're so cheap.

That being said, Marvel Adventures: Avengers is pretty cool. The team is wildly unbalanced and the first issue is not terrific, but it gets much better as it goes on, and gets wildly creative by issue #4 (the end of the first digest).

Plus, Janet Van Dyne is way cooler as Giant-Girl than as the Wasp, even if she's the least well-defined character and the most redundant power-wise.

That said, I don't know that the Marvel Adventures line is any better or worse for animated adaptation than anything else. Most of the Marvel animation that's aimed at kids pretty much turns into the equivalent of the Marvel Adventures titles, as they drop continuity and tie-ins with other titles and make the content more suitable for children. Since all the Marvel Adventures titles are all pretty much done-in-one titles, I don't know if there's much point in trying to adapt the Marvel Adventures titles.

Ahh thanks for the heads up. But still they look fun. Maybe I'll ask for them for Christmas.

Actually, Marvel adventures was formerly called "Marvel Age". Marvel Age was supposed to recreate the original stories. They never really touched on the origins of the titled characters since it was for kids. The MA line-up featured Spider-man, FF, and Hulk. They changed their name after 20-something issues of SM and started all over again, I think. Marvel age actually got me into comic books.
