View Full Version : Would a movie theater get into trouble with the law...
...if it ran cartoons before the feature, but didn't charge extra money for people to see them?

I don't think so, if the theatre already payed for the cartoon film and played it as a bonus.

No way will they EVER do that again.
Advertisers and the studios KNOW they have a captive audience 15 minutes before every movie starts - that's why you'll see some trailers, music videos, concession promos, even COMMERCIALS - but never a cartoon!
Why entertain 'em for free, when you can SELL 'em something?

It's a shame they still don't do it. But the trailers and ads before movies are getting WAY to long. I mean, when I saw Harry Potter on Sunday, there was at LEAST 20 minutes of ads!

I know, but it's nice to know they could do it if they wanted to.
I'd go to the movies more often if they were showing cartoons.

My local Four Seasons theatre has a bunch of film prints of cartoons. Occassionally, they'll play a cartoon, most of the time a Disney cartoon. This happens because they get prints of movies about four or five months after other theatres and don't have to play any ads. :)
