In the comics, Tim's parents were archeologists, I believe. Well, while on a arch trip, they stumbled upon a lost Native society, who eventually captured and tried to kill them. Tim's mom was killed, and Tim's dad suffered severe, but repairable, spinal injuries.

I never got the impression he died in the cartoon. He changed his name to John Doe and moved to Metropolis River. I thought he just ran away. Anyhow I'm not sure

Rewatch SINS OF THE FATHER and watch the Batcaves scene smore carefully. "A John Doe turned up" means that he's head. 'John Doe' is the name coriners and doctors give to a dead body that can't be identified. The dead body matched the finger prints of Tim's father, meaning that they are one and the same. This means that Tim's father is dead. He tried to escape Two-Face but his past caught up with him in metropolis, where he was killed and dumped in the river, and where is body washd up soon afterwards.

Lay off Tim, DB. If it wasn't a joke, I'm sure it's just a British thing. :-D

Thank you very much for the...wonderful...question
FYI i am 15, but a friend introduced me to Batman in great proportions only a few months ago, all i knew was the movies and very little about the cartoons.
So lay off me! Or else...

Yeah I guess I just misinterpreted the scene. I didn't know John Doe was what police called unidentified bodies. I'm not that young though. I'm 20. And I go to The University of California Santa Barbara. I'd like to think I'm intelligent. I graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA and a 1400 SAT. I suppose I'm just naive perhaps.
Anyhow sheesh I'd had no idea that my dad was dead. :-) I guess I should be heartbroken. Or at least in shock...........

Yes. Jane Doe, for female stiffs. I knew Drake's old man was dead, but it didn't get to me...I mean, you reap what you sow, and all...and at least they didn't show the body. Imagine how vile a corpse would look after a couple days in the river....http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/otn/other/bulbool.gif

Who killed Tim's dad? I don't think it was Two-Face because he was in Gotham but then who was it?

"Who killed Tim's dad?"
Good question Firefly. They never did go into that. But you've gotta figure anyone who had the cajones to rip-off Two-Face and skip town, which wasn't very smart, probably did the same to Lex or someone else who wasn't kind enough to let him slip away.
Very interesting question. Maybe DC could do a Gotham Adventures issue dealing with it. It would be interesting to see how Tim handles meeting the man who killed his father, whether he liked him or not.
"It's your type of picture, Pukeface. A double feature!"
