Just watched it for the first time, and all I have to say is "WOAH!" That was one great movie. The first thing that catches you is the animation. It looks like nothing I've ever seen before and outside of the sometimes annoying camera shaking, it's up there with greats like Spirited Away and Mind Game in terms of sheer beauty. The vignette style was interesting; I liked the constrast between the calmness of the conversations and the trippiness of the accompanying visuals. It's an inspiring movie, with tons of great food-for-thought and a wonderful message to live life to it's fullest. I recommend that any fan of serious, philosophical animation see this movie.

Word.

I'm with you on the annoying camerawork, although I find that it's really only bad in the first couple scenes and tends to settle down after that.

I agree. Waking life is a really great film. Thought provoking, with interesting animation, and entertaining throughout. There should be more animated movies like this, and less Chiclen Little-type annoying crap.

I don't really consider Waking Life an animated film since it's just painted over live action footage (like its upcoming "sequel" A Scanner Darkly). That being said it's an amazing film and one of Linkletter's best.
