All-Day Cartoon Network Marathon Supplies Plenty of Courage
Petrified Pooch Headlines 9-Hour Marathon on Monday, January 21

Cartoon Network's shivering, sniveling scaredy-cat canine with the oxymoronic name, Courage the Cowardly Dog, will star in an nine-hour marathon on Monday, January 21 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. (ET, PT). While Courage would like nothing better than to mind his own business in the rural farmhouse he shares with elderly couple Eustace and Muriel, he nevertheless finds himself battling a curious assortment of malevolent visitors, ranging from a devious French duck to giant bananas from the future.

Courage the Cowardly Dog is a half-hour series that chronicles the life of an incredibly timid dog named Courage who must regularly defend his owners - an old couple living on a farm outside the small town of Nowhere - from paranormal elements that threaten their simple existence. Despite his temerity, when things get hairy, Courage overcomes his nervous demeanor and exhibits enough fearless ingenuity to rescue his oblivious caretakers from the endless barrage of menacing malefactors that invade their lives. Based on the 1996 Academy Award-nominated short "The Chicken from Outer Space."

Courage, the Cowardly Dog , created by John R. Dilworth, had the best debut ever of any Cartoon Network original series when it premiered in November 1999. Since then, it has become one of the most popular series on Cartoon Network, with particularly strong ratings among teens.
