I like this cartoon. but i was wondering why are there so many Chinese jokes in it? I'm not offended, but this just seems odd. I know one scene was edited, but there are two others that remained: the scene with the Chinatown bus being carried off by Chinese guys and the eye exam chat with the guy who says while referring to the small print, "If you can read this, you're Chinese." Who directed this one? And isn't the Egyptian Cigarettes scene the same one that was used in a Bugs Bunny cartoon?
Who directed this one?
Friz Freleng

Pretty much, a extremely similar scene appears in "A Hare Grows In Manhattan" in which Bugs hides in the sign at the top of a building (must have been Times Square), it made sense to reuse it, since both cartoons take place in New York City, so Bugs was just sort of visiting a place seen in an older cartoon.
I don't know why there were so many Chinese gags in it, perhaps Friz was just on a role when it came to Chinese jokes that time, like how some people can tell a long string of blond jokes or dirty jokes.

Lights Fantastic seemed much shorter than usual.
Were some of the gags edited out?
Fred.

Just one edit that I know of: There was a scene in which Chinese people were speaking Chinese really fast.
