BKN's Dragon takes off on Jetix

NEWS BRIEF: Legend of the Dragon, the action-adventure series from global animation company BKN International, has been given a seven-days-a-week broadcast slot in the US, as part of the Jetix programming block, starting from October 7.

Joy Tashjian, president of JTMG, which is handling all licensing and merchandising for the property in North America, said: "Jetix is a top-rated action-adventure programming block and will serve as a cornerstone of our extensive branding and media initiatives."

Aimed at eight- to 12-year-olds, Legend of the Dragon (39x30') is set in China and takes place within a world where old meets new, dark meets light, and the universal balance is controlled by The Golden Dragon. The guardian of the temple has passed on and a new Golden Dragon must be chosen from a brother and sister.

The series was produced and created by Rick Ungar, and written and developed by Sean Catherine Derek.

Thirty-nine episodes is a hefty acquisition for a first season show. But, it is running... seven days a week. I hope Jetix knows how to manage that.
