I've noticed that we're getting a lot more newbies than usual. They seem to be everywhere. It's not a bad thing, just interesting.
Is it just me, or do other people notice it too?

It usually happens around the beginning of summer. Happens every year... you get used to it.

Heh it's usually the opposite since kids in school have nothing else better to do than post on the forums. Just like I am right now. :D Then again I guess that only applies to us college students. :)

~s7Not really, though now that it's mentioned I have seen a few more than normal. I would have expected it around new shows starting but I guess it doesn't hold up.

Well, one would hope that while you're in college you do have something better to do -- like getting the education you or your parents are paying out the ass for.
Oh, who am I kidding.

Is that what college is for? Times must be changing cause back in my day it was about staying up all night getting drunk ;)

half a lie's still a lie, so half a loser's still a loser, BF ;) .
And yes actually, there has been more 'newbie' activity as it were. In WFWC for example, new blood's come in. Never really pegged it to anything. I thought the holls only started in July? People join during term break (isn't that like, kinda short)?

Depending on the state, some schools (pre-College) will wrap up between the end of this month and the middle of June... and most major Colleges & Universities are done with their Spring Semesters already, the rest are finishing up... tho, I think some not-so-major colleges may have to go into early June... heh ;)
the little kiddies get out of school--- and I know most of them get to sit around all summer so it'll lead to an influx of newbies on the forum.

Do we offend? :( Actually ,,, no.
If newbies end up in show areas I frequent and aren't pointless spammers (it happens) I like to see their new ideas. I take note of this because I've seen you around,,, final judgement is still pending, but you seem promising. :D

I've forgotten, is it number of posts, or is it ammount of time since joining, or what? Is it when someone stops acting "newbish"?

I think it's a mix of the above. IMO. If the person stops acting "newbish" such as asking: How do I make a spoiler box, how do I quote someone, where should I post this thread, etc. Then they are no longer a "newbie" since they know their way around the forums.
Also, once members get to know a person because he/she frequently paritipates in a forum, that person is no longer a newbie. I am not saying that a person should spam messages to converse in every single thread. The person should make his/her presence known, so that when forum members see a person's name (i.e. "Hey it's NORM!") they would identify that name with the type of posts he/she would make.
That's my 2 cents.
