For franchises I mean...
what would you do if you were in charge of development? Any ideas you'd wanna pitch?
Just off the top of my head I think a new game in the Star Fox universe would be fitting...
the twist... you don't play as star fox or anyone on his team.... enter the world of intergalactic piracy my friends... corporate espoinage, smuggling, bounty hunting, and gun running... what do we need?
A Star Wolf game! :)
anyway, that's just one idea I guess
what are yours?

An actual turn based RPG not involving any current or previous nintendo characters
Giving Oblivion Class exploration to the next Zelda(but not the attributte leveling)
Making a Metroid Prime game that does not involve scanning
Having a full 3D mario platformer that uses the items and level styles of NSMB
Using the Wii Controller for what it was really intended, a full fledged Hooker Beater simulator game to give GTA a real run for it's money.

I agree with a Mario platformer that echoes classic platformers. While to some it doesn't seem like a "new direction," Nintendo's gotten really emphatic on the gimmicks with the Mario franchise and while I have high hopes for games like Super Mario Galaxy, I really hope to see a game with the variety and simplicity of Super Mario 64. All that talk about using the Wiimote in extremely "innovative" ways makes me uneasy. I kind of just want to make Mario jump around in fields and pirate ships and lava worlds and oceans...
Space is cool too, but not if I have to poke the air and stuff and not if that's the only setting Mario is going to have. Sunshine suffered from the same type of level over and over again, as Nintendo focused on the water-jet, oooh...This time if they focus on gravity gimmicks and sacrifice level design, I won't be too happy.
But yeah...a simultaenous acknowledgment of their roots as they go on with innovation would suit me fine.

I'd like to see some more 2D scrollers occasionally. Super Paper Mario looks awesome, as does new Super Mario Bros... but it took too long for this to happen, and it needs to happen more often. A 2d Metroid, Zelda, Kirby, anything really. Now, when I say 2D, I still expect high production values such ans ultra smooth animation and voice actors... but it's something that would give them a little more old school base.
We should see more 2D things every now and then, they're cheap to produce and absolutely addictive.

Didn't they call that Golden Sun?

Wasn't released on Consoles, it allso wasn't a first party title IIRC.
I'd also have to say that any instances of a new GS being made seems to have died. At this point a Phantasy Star 5 has a better chance at being made.

Making a Metroid Prime game that does not involve scanning
That game was Metroid Prime: Hunters. Your hangup on the inclusion of scanning in Metroid Prime games... is odd, because that's one of the major bulletpoints of it. That's like saying you want a Super Mario game without item blocks.
I'd love to just see a Mario game that takes advantage of the entire Mario world, and applies GTA levels of Sandbox to it. Grab a Mario Kart to get from place to place, enter into a sports tournament, etc.

Didn't say anything about it having to be on consoles, and while Camelot is not a first part, they tend to work very, very close with Nintendo nowadays.

Phantasy Star seems to have it's future set on something bigger, like... a Universe.

I believe that's up to Square-Enix.
BUT... given the history of Square-Enix supporting the handheld Nintendo market (along with being one of Nintendo's oldest allies)... I wouldn't be surprised if you saw a remake on the DS.

Bricks do not get you completion points
they'ren't used in the same way. and sofar Prime is the only metroid spinoff to use scanning, where as Metroid, Metroid 2, Super Metroid, and Metroid Fusion had no such scanning.

If you don't care about story, then you shouldn't worry about the completion points either. Completion points only open up frivolous stuff that doesn't add to gameplay any more than the story.

It effects the ending, that's how the player's guide words it
if it was scanning w/o consiquence that would be prefered

The ending, once again, is story. You can play the game with very minimal scanning (to activate and attain), and skip the story. Or, you can fully immerse yourself in the story by scanning (to learn) and be rewarded with more, or better, story at the end.
Don't like playing a game for story? Don't scan stuff. You might walk away quicker, and happier, but the ending won't be as good... but that shouldn't matter, right? If you didn't care enough of the story to scan throughout, you won't care enough of the story at the end.

Alot of the Adventure aspects of many recent games like Oblivion more or less have system refinements that could be easily implemented into Prime 3. While I did enjoy Prime 1 and 2 I just felt that alot of the systems used for it didn't seem as smooth or refined.
I just hope the endings have better scripting for 3, both were Samus destroys main boss, samus unmasks, samus flies off, new metroid enemy forms. The girl is just like a RealDoll, no persona whatsoever.
If anything choice based conflicts like Starfox64 would be ideal to mix things up. Not all that sure if More or the same would be good for the Wii(also both primes had far too many backtracking sequences). Especialy considering that Halo 3 promises to give all other FPS esque games a run for their money.

What I can't figure out, and please answer this...
Do you want story?
or... Do you want gameplay?
You get gameplay by running through the game scanning only what is required to move on. Theoretically, once you defeat the final boss, a "Game Over" screen could show up.
You get story by scanning everything, reading all the logs, and getting a good ending.
The worlds of Metroid Prime, where for the most part, you are the only creature on a planet that's not out to KILL, require that the story be told via documents. It's no different than, say, walking up to an NPC or reading a sign on a wall in a game by moving up to them and pressing "A", with the only additional step of going into Scan mode, and the information being presented as facts and diaries, instead of dialogue... either way, it's text that has to be activated, some text is important to continue in the game, others add to the story.

Real Time Story akin to Half-Life or GRAW I feel would be ideal for prime. If it's About Exploration/Action that's usually the best way to go about it. No text boxes, just discussion and talking as things unfold and they follow you or communicate thru the radio, ofcourse this would require VA's. But the benefit is no stopping while in the midst of fighting and keeps everything flowing smoothly.
I mean Samus obviously has alliences with the Chozo, they all bowed to her at the end of Prime 2. And her suit seems to be a production model so there has to be other people out there that could act as Support units in firefights.
